Appearance

By all appearances, a creature of decay. His silhouette--seen at a distance--is simply that of 'horse,' though one of mammoth size--nineteen hands, or around six feet, at his withers. If the size is not hint enough that perhaps Wicker is a horse out of the ordinary, a closer glance would reveal the gleam of green ghostlight eyes, and further scrutiny, the paler tracery of root-like structures across his dull black coat--a coat made patchy with what looks like longstanding illness. Occasional areas of bare skin or fur slicked with fluid show where this strange diseased nature afflicts him most.

Structurally, Wicker is a horse with a combination exo-endo-skeleton: though he has bones inside his body, they are a hybrid of typical calcium bones and dense wooden structural support, interweaving inside and outside the surface of his body. In places, they show through, protruding through flesh to wind like vines across his muscle; they provide their own, hydraulic power, like insect limbs. His blood is a thick sap, a green that gives off a soft glow, but still smells of iron should it be spilled. His skull is particularly pale, and its structure odd: rootlike muscles attach beneath and behind the jawline, his tongue relatively plant-like and almost dry. The sinuses within his skull's cavity are damp, and should one draw close, he smells faintly of petrichor--like damp earth after a rain, edging into sickly. Likewise odd are the scale-like feathering at his hooves, and his mane and tail, which are almost more plant-like than animal: fibrous and limp, always feeling a little greasy and a little sharp to the touch.

His gemstone is a Titanite encased in woven fiber at the front of his chest. His voice is a startlingly deep bass, like the boom of a predator--and he is indeed omnivorous--but touched with a breathy rasp.

Personality

Despite his forebidding appearance, Wicker is rather a jovial fellow. He takes little seriously, and is generally outgoing, confident and friendly, with a somewhat dark and very open sense of humor.

To some extent, his cheer is a little twisted: he sees the diseases that he carries as a sort of gift, and will happily share them. Whether this turns out to be outright delusional and dangerous, or carefully tended, will depend on how others, and experience, mould him as he grows. If he is taught what he should and should not do, he may be relatively benevolent; if not, or if his logic isn't convinced, he may be rather accidentally dangerous. A perhaps surprising depth beneath his joking exterior is a fascination with deeper magics: with history and philosophical meaning, with life and death and what might come after. Wicker sees beyond the here and now, and looks past it for deeper truths--even if there are none; even if he takes them with a laugh.

Either way, those he considers 'friends' will be under his protection, and aside from this strange quirk, Wicker will always be up for an adventure.
