Appearance

Yewberry seems to be a perfect mixture between her parents. For the most part, she bears Jayberry's body. Long, wolven legs, a wolf-like head, and a wolf's torso. She won't be quite as tall as her Life Giver, standing two and a half feet at her shoulder, and five feet in length. Yew is built more for speed than strength, with long, lanky limbs.

Unlike her mother, however, Yew does not have fur. Instead, she is covered in millions of tiny, iridescent feathers, each one only as big as a strand of fur. Normally, they appear to be a light green in color but, when hit by light, they appear to gleam every color at once. Instead of a wolf's muzzle, she has a beak, sharp and pointed, but still bears her wolven fangs. Her gemstone, a rubellite tourmaline, sits at the base of her throat, much like her stone giver's. Her right eye is black-brown, and rather birdish, gleaming and bearing a transparent eyelid. The other, however, is wolven, golden in color. Instead of a tail, she has tail feathers, folding out in a fan behind her.

On her back, she has wings like a hummingbird. These are not, however, strong enough for her to fly. They are able to be moved, and can support her weight long enough for her to glide short distances.

Yewberry, now Yew, has very little to show from the War of Eridanus, physically. The pin-feathers at the base of her skull have never quite grown back right, always a bit darker than the rest, duller, always in some state of arousal, always sticking out this way and that.

A fight with her Mother left her greatly scarred. Her left ear is completely gone, nothing more than a tuft of feathers, a great scar of dull feathers zig-zagging down from it to her neck. There is a fist-sized chunk missing from her left wing, torn out by her Mother's fangs. There is a fist-sized circle on her chest where the feathers never grew back, nothing but flesh there.

Personality

One thing that can be said about Yew, is that she is inexplicably shy. She doesn't approach others without a reason, and even then it still is hard for her to find ways to interact. She flinches away from touch, from others who appear like the Bloodberries. From those with any of their names. Her name is a curse, as theirs are - Yew wants to run. She always does. Away from her family, their memories, away from anything that reminds her of them. It hurts, her heart, her scars. They itch with pain - reminding her of things she'd rather not remember.

Yew is not a fighter anymore. She is a coward, pleading for her own life, soul screaming with want to survive. Survive on her own, she does not need to rely on anyone but herself anymore! So she says, anyway. Yew hates being alone, however, she seeks out loneliness as if that will cure the curse of her own name and past. As if that will change anything that happened in the past. Yew clings to good times, wanting to make things different, wanting to change herself, those around her. She can't, it's not how things work.

It doesn't stop the gembound from wondering if she could.

Yew wants to see the world, she wants to meet all kinds of gembound and see all kinds of caves. She drags herself along to try and be better, and make Uncle Mercy proud.

Yew has damage to her brain, which has caused a permanent stutter. She will sometimes slur her words, be unable to say certain ones, or repeat words despite trying to say one thing.
