Appearance

Alaska is a tiny creature. She’s only a bit smaller than your average White-tailed Deer in terms of height, but in terms of weight, she leaves much to be desired. Her ribs often show through her fur, simply because eating is not an important part of her life. Eating is more of an afterthought. In fact, the taste of food tends to make Alaska feel nauseated, so she often gets her “food” through spells that suck nutrients from other sources, whether alive (plants, microscopic creatures in water) or dead (deceased creatures). She only eats plants as a last resort.

The thing that makes Alaska stand out is that she carries a gene that causes her fur to be white. This is not like albinism, which is a lack of pigmentation. She is not hyper-sensitive to sunlight either. And her nose is black, not pink. She also has dark eyes, however her eyes will lighten over time into a silvery-grey-blue color, depending on the lighting.

Her gem is a light blue topaz, the color of the sky on a cold, clear day, or the color of a glacier against the sunlight. It is in the shape of a large, intricate snowflake, and lies in the center of her chest. Her eyes and gem glow a glacial blue whenever she performs magic. This, combined with her pristine white fur, makes her look like a winter wraith from a distance.

Alaska speaks only in a whisper at all times. It is unclear if this is by choice, or if she is physically incapable of raising her voice.

Personality

Current Personality: Alaska has changed, after an encounter with a Monster (Teyouma II). She is even more distrusting of others and has panic attacks if others get too close to her. She may become hostile if approached, and will attack if physically touched, or if she thinks she is about to be touched. Beware. This once innocent girl has become cursed. Approach at your own peril.

Alaska is the epitome of winter, whether that be in the form of snow, ice, rain, or mist. She loves the cold, the dark, the mysterious places of the Caves. She was born in Cetus and in Cetus she shall stay unless somehow convinced otherwise. The cold, dank marsh is natural to her, and has plenty of water for her to drink and absorb nutrients from. It also means it is a natural place for her to practice her Water Magic, something she enjoys doing immensely. Actually, it is not so much the water aspect of it, as the ice aspect. She thinks that falling snow is the most beautiful thing in the world, especially as it reminds her of herself. She has a bit of an obsession with causing mist and snow to appear, though it won’t be ’til she is older that she finally creates snow for the first time.

Alaska is extremely soft-spoken, and only ever whispers. She is a gentle, fae-like creature, with an innocence about her. Yet, at the same time, there is something about her that could be taken as… well… a bit creepy. This is partly due to the way she looks, being emaciated and wraith-like. But it is also because the way she views the world is probably different from the way other Gembounds view the world. For example, the love of heat is something she doesn’t understand, despite being a mammal, and therefore warm-blooded. And she doesn’t understand why anyone would choose to eat by mouth when using Magic for nutrients is just as good. She just doesn’t understand a lot of things that seem instinctive to others.
