Appearance

Born lanky and awkward, it's something Aster never truly grows out of. Her legs are long and clumsy, as if she were walking on stilts. Velvet-black fur is soft in some places, but like wire in others-- particularly her chest and tail, where instead of sleek, straight fur, her skin is covered in tight curls.

Her kyanite gemstone replaces a part of her skull; some of her upper teeth are a pale blue, particularly those near the back of her mouth. Her stone protrudes out her forehead in a line of three circular dome-like shapes. The largest is just above her eyes, the second right between them, and the smallest planted neatly where her forehead meets her muzzle.

There's nothing particularly graceful about this creature; under the thick inky-black fur she is gangly and underweight. Her eyes seem a little too large for her face, though they take a stunning colour that matches her kyanite gem. While looking at something, she seems to simply stare right through it.

In fact, while looking at anything, she seems to be watching something else, unseen.

Her snout is pointed but naturally crooked. Her slicked-back, curly ears occasionally jerk and twitch unprompted, as if trying to listen to someone that isn't speaking.

One of her hind legs is twisted and broken from a misfired spell during a spar. Aster can barely walk on it, and it seems to hinder her greatly.

Personality

Aloof and borderline unapproachable, Aster will always find it difficult to not only make friends, but to have any sort of social interaction to begin with. It will take her a long time, even, to be able to properly speak.

She does not act how one would expect a dog to act. She spends her days mostly alone and staring off at something that doesn't seem to be there at all. She rarely sleeps, meaning that every movement seems to indicate exhaustion.

Aster, however, seems to be very interested in the past. She is eager to learn about the Caves and it's history, but it's unclear why or what she intends to do with said information-- because it seems very likely that she won't be willing to share it.

The borzoi's life seems consumed by it. She exhausts herself using her magic to peer into the past. She does very little else and she prioritizes her own basic needs in favour for watching one of Origin's ancients from afar, as if waiting for them to blurt out all their secrets.

Perhaps in time, and with the right guidance, Aster might learn to act less like an emotionless, bug-eyed little weirdo and more like a functioning member of the caves, who can actually hold a conversation for more than fifteen seconds.
