Appearance

Bayo is largely canine in appearance; about 80-90lbs, midway between coyote and large Spotted Hyena weight. He has slender forelimbs, more like a coyote’s, and stockier, shorter hind legs, like a hyena’s. His markings are more subtle, with soft grey spots coloring his sooty grey and dusty brown coat, which is thick and shaggy, with forward facing, black ears, curved forward and almost dish-like. He has golden eyes and a black mask and a black snout, and a short, bushy tail with a black tip, almost sooty in appearance.

Each forefoot has five toes with pale claws on each one, and their hind feet have four toes, also with pale claws. Each forefoot has a dewclaw and black paw pads. His neck is a little long and thick, and he has a strong head with an incredible bite force, allowing him to snap bones and scavenge carcasses for just one little scrap of meat, and get inside bones to suck up the marrow.

His gem clusters on his belly in sharp orange spikes, making it uncomfortable to lay down on, but perfect for fatal belly flops. Unfortunately, this means he can’t receive belly rubs without risk of harming whoever offers to give him any.

Personality

Bayo is aloof in that sort of way like a coyote investigating a campfire. Sticking to the very edges, trying to figure out if it's safe to come any closer. Cautious yet stupid, and absolutely curious by nature, always one to smack at a hot coal to see if it's hot, before running off yelping, because of course it was you dummy-

Though his curiosity isn't a defining feature. That would definitely be his wit. Of which they have little of. Typically he'll be told something and walk off, only to come back moments later asking what he was told to do. He's not entirely clueless but a lot of cues seem to go over his head a lot of the time, and manners are something he struggles to grasp, so 'please' and 'thank you' are rare phrases.

He does try his best to be strong like his mother, seeing her as the best in any situation. He gets their odd comments and weird mannerisms from her, like how he bounces and sway sometimes, and some that seem to have almost been inspired, like how he tends to change the subject without any connection whatsoever to the previous topic, which can be jarring and inconsiderate. He himself knows the connections, and tends to not really understand how he's being rude sometimes.

Sometimes, though... Giggle can be scary. Talking to herself, constantly changing her outer mannerisms at the drop of a hat. He tries to understand and be empathetic, tries to be like the best parts of his mother and tries to be as great as people say she sometimes is. He tries. For her.

Bone Bag:


A bag originally found filled with seeds, it fell out of the rift in Gemini and he took it to the Collector to trade the contents for his scarf, but kept the bag for himself. It is made of worn, green-dyed leather with a drawstring top with a button flap over it. Attikias made a harness for that it attaches to, ensuring that it won't be dropped or broken if he were to run or jump and risk jostling it.

A fine, pressed-felt cowboy hat of expensive make--straw-colored, and with a dark red ribbon around its brim. The hat fits perfectly--even better when rakishly cocked just to one side

- very protective of their siblings to the point of perhaps being smothering, doesn't quite understand that being too protective is a bad thing

- not technically an outcast, but will mostly hang out around the outer edges of the bonebound, and will probably be the most likely to catch any stragglers wandering around canis in his travels

Bones: Bayo's collection of bones for bone-reading

Funny bone - A mandible of a canine creature, named after his mother. It was taken from the bone pit she reads from and he uses it as his guiding bone or his guiding light. It reminds him of her and he uses it to 'lead the way', sort of.

Wish bone - The wish bone of a bird, specifically a caroller. It represents wants and hopes, whether or not they'll come true depends on how it lands. Curve-side up? They will. Curve-side down? They won't. The simplest to read of his bones.

Claw bone - A claw that someone either shed or ripped out, found on the ground. It tells him of conflict, though its meaning is often vague.
