JUVENILE · 2.5FT@SHOULDER · 237LBS HORNS · GROWING EACH CYCLE As a calf and aging juvenile, Jinsei is quickly growing each cycle and thankfully so. His large, round ears give him a rather goofy looking appearance compared to his narrow body and face, especially while his horns are simply short and straight, slanted back from his head and only diverging slightly. At a young age, his coat is mostly reddish-sandy in color and does not show much bluish-grey in color yet near his neck or shoulders. The mane along his neck is developing quickly, quite prominent already as a calf. The mane along his back is quite ridged and short, however. The white markings on his body are clearly defined and saturated as a juvenile, and will not develop much more as he ages except for the chevron between his eyes (please note, the calf reference image I used was one of the only free ones I could find, so please reference his adult images for his chevron).

ADULT · 5.25FT@SHOULDER · 693LBS HORNS · 67IN LENGTH · 3 TURNS Jinsei has a large but narrow body with long legs. His coat is mostly a reddish-sandy brown in color and has some brown/bluish grey near his neck and shoulders. He has ten white vertical stripes along his back/torso. Jinsei's head and face area are darker in brown than the rest of his coat, which makes the small white chevron that runs between his eyes stand out. He also has white markings on his lips and on the edges of his cheeks. His ears are large and round in shape, and though one might not think an antelope has a long tail, the greater kudu do! Jinsei's tail is about 20 inches in length. His eyes are seemingly black in color with a distant green sheen, visible at certain angles when his eyes shift in just the right lighting. Greater kudu are one of the largest antelope species and Jinsei will grow to be as large as most greater kudu bulls do; they grow much larger than the cows, and Jinsei will grow to be 5.25 feet at the shoulder and weigh 693 pounds. The bulls also vocalize much more than the cows, utilizing low grunts, clucks, humming, and gasping. Along his throat is a large mane, longer than that which runs along his back; it will grow to be nearly twice as long in length than the mane along his back. While the mane along his back will have patches of white riding his spine where his stripes are, the mane along his neck will be mostly golden in color with a horizontal blackish line running through it. Jinsei will develop large horns, and during his second cycle, they will only have two twists through them. If they were to be straightened, they might reach a length of 60 inches! The horns only diverge slightly as they slant back from the head at this age. When he grows to be fully matured after passing into his fifth cycle, his horns will develop a third twist and reach their full length; if they were to be straightened, they might reach a length of 67 inches! The horns diverge more widely as they slant back from the head at this age.

and we're hard to stop · rise up · we're hard to stop Ignorance and innocence plagues Jinsei as a juvenile. During his first few cycles he may have little interaction with other Gembounds, and so his learning is mostly from observing those that come near the Warrens where he has sheltered himself; and from spying on the fluffy cat and strange shadow that also live there. He will learn speech in small amounts from this and also what will come naturally to his developing brain overtime. At this young age, he is impressionable. Interactions he witnesses, if far and few between, stay with him. It is all he will know, and so it is what he will replicate. This does not necessarily reflect who he may develop into, simply what he thinks is supposed to happen. Jinsei could be considered curious of new interactions, if only that he may wonder what value or lesson might come of it. A calculating creature develops from the kudu's earliest cycles observing and waiting. It chose an unfortunate nesting area in the Warrens and thus was exposed to personalities that may have corrupted his better thinking, had he the chance to develop otherwise. An adult now, the Gembound has overheard much and has paid its price for snooping several cycles too long. Nightmares of shadow haunt its restless tries at sleeping and flickers of shade reach at the corners of its waking vision, but are never there if it looks just so.
His ambitions are true, still. Grow. Strengthen. Life. He knows the cave is larger than this. He needs to see. Roots have tangled around hooves, but nevermore; this place cannot keep one bound forever. How foolish a thought. He will emerge and meet them. Gather them. Rally them. He has but one purpose now. One goal. Use this as an opportunity. His disposition is neither friend nor foe, but allies will be needed. He is unlikely to be able to achieve things alone. His tendency for disorder makes it difficult for any ambitions or goals to be reached without help or guidance. Not likely to take orders, however; but might accept almost equals. ORIGIN C34 · JINSEI C1 A quiet birth. Hatches within the shadowed corners of Orion during the uproar of the Three Kings' and escapes to Pisces. He hides himself within the Warrens, discovering a feline there rooted in its research; it is unwelcoming, overly obsessed with its stones. A shadow drives the kudu calf away. He finds his own den to observe from; he watches, learns, and grows slightly.
ORIGIN C35 · JINSEI C2 Becomes bored cooped up in the Warrens. Horns have started to develop. Found an opening while trying to visit the cat with stones—the shadow was gone! Again, the cat was not very welcoming, but the kudu calf lingers at the entrance of its den to see what it is doing with all of its pretty stones: "I'm busy! Get lost," hissed the cat as it turned on the kudu calf, glaring at the young Gembound through his glasses.
"Eyes look weird," the calf remarked absently, confused by the strange things on the cat's face; this was his first good look at them, and he still didn't know what the heck they were. "Not busy. Look tired." The cat seemed taken aback. His ears flattened but he didn't have a response for that, and instead turned back toward his den slouched and defeated. He was tired. "What you doing with them? All so shiny, me see them from there. Then some gone." The kudu calf flopped its head from side to side as it regarded their surroundings idly, waiting for an answer. It would wait all cycle if it had to. It didn't know any better. "What are you doing with them? They are all so shiny. I see them from over there. Then some are gone," the cat corrected after some time, his tail twitching. The kudu calf dropped its head back into position, committing the lesson to memory. His green eyes blinked. "What are you doing with them?" he asked again, correctly. The cat pawed a stone near the entrance of his den, it would have been his next choice. Perhaps the calf was here for a reason. The idea of it made him snort air from his nose quietly; certainly he was growing too tired of this if he was beginning to brew such thoughts. "I was creating life," he answered after some time. "But not how I wanted." "WOW!" The calf was wide-eyed behind him, and the cat started at the sudden noise. "Can I try? I can make life?" Glancing back over his shoulder sadly, the feline was suddenly agitated by the presence of this creature: its shape, its hooves, its stature; its stupid ears, its big stupid eyes, its stupid looking teeth. "You are life." His body shook at the sound of his own trembling voice, and he retreated into himself, crawling back into the confines of his den where he would remain out of sight. Struck by the oddness of the departure, the kudu calf sat staring into the cat's den for a moment, regarding what it had said. "I am life," he repeated. And so he was. Life. |
