Appearance

creams and browns - 4ft shoulder height - ~400lbs - emerald beak tip

Kai is just about your average red deer--though she forever looks as though she's stuck in the body of a fledgling, with stubby antlers coming out of her skull that never grow beyond a few inches. Her body is fairly lightly but well-built, her coat a pale brown with creamy-white undertones. There is a great amount of feathering on her hooves--particularly her hind legs, which leave a trail of pale hairs behind on the cave floor.

Oh, and she has an owl face.

That's probably important.

Okay, so she's only half red deer. It doesn't mean that, if you were to look at her from behind, you wouldn't automatically assume that she was anything but. Unless she turned her head all the way around to look at you. Then you might think overwise.

Her (disconcerting) face aside, however, Kai is host to many flowers on her back-- pinks and reds and yellows --but her fur and skin underneath seems to be brittle and damaged from carrying them for so long, only really noticeable by touch or by parting the fur to see the cracked skin underneath.

Personality

kind - eccentric - hermit mentality

Kai is your typical recluse. Having been first raised by a deer who knew a total of four words, and then having lived almost all her life alone in Pisces, Kai has become someone who avoids both interaction and other Gembounds. She's trying to change that--she's just not very good at it. She doesn't understand social standards, or even typical accepted knowledge, like the fact that you can't simply adopt another, existing Gembound's identity if you like it enough. At least her "being Astraea" phase didn't last very long. She tends to find herself more at home with the plants she lovingly tends than with strangers, in any case.

It may be long solitude, or her lifegiver's disappearance, but Kai is finally beginning to seek out others--she craves interaction, and misses companionship, but doesn't really know how to do it right. The traits her mother did impart--patience and kindness, to both Gembounds and plants--may aid her in her attempts, if Kai manages to push past her unfamiliarity with it all. Just don't expect her to be anything less than "a little weird," as nice as she can be--and deeper eccentricities will take her time to unlearn, if she ever does.
