The hybrid had wandered around Polaris for a few hours or so now, bored out of her mind. With a lick to her muzzle, she had decided to walk down towards the Spire. It was a pitifully short walk - seemingly a few seconds and there she was, sitting as she always did, watching the blue lights pouring out of the Spire and flooding Polaris with a blue hue.
Lazily, she lowered herself onto her chest.

Derby lurked amongst his Tunnel Runner peers and loved to get free pats and food from the cowboys and ranchers that worked in... Polaristown. Whatever that was! Sometimes, the cowboy would take him out and play with him! He thought it was a game when the little vine halter was placed on him, and that he had to buck it off and run away. He'd already played that game today.
So he was back in the pen, but he was too curious to stay in there. There was a white thing to see! Derby wiggled through the fence and trotted towards the white thing.

At first, the creature hadn't noticed the little musk deer come out towards her, but when she did, she was excited. White loved herself some new friends after all, and with every new friend brought a weird and exciting creature for her to see.
Scrambling to her paws she bounded towards derby, half-stumbling over her bird feet. "Hi!" she half-squawked, half-barked. "I'm White!"

Derby clicked in excitement, little toes clicking on the floor. The white thing was awfully weird-looking. It had the big weird things like the turkeys and wrinkly little feet. But it also looked like the wolves! It was a hybrid friend! How awesome!
He brayed and bowed down in excitement. He figured why not try and talk back! "Howdy!" He squealed to White.

White had no idea what a 'howdy' was, but boy was she excited! Instinctively, the pristine tailfeathers of the hybrid began to wiggle. "Who are you?" she asked with a grin, sitting down onto her haunches to engage conversation with her new-found friend.

White didn't even know what a tunnel runner was! She assumed it was Derby's species, like how Caravaggio was a cow and Black was a dog. "That's cool!" she said. "I'm not a tunnel runner, but I'd like to be one!"
She nodded. "I'm a hybrid! I don't know what that means, though."
