More life. More young ones. Reseda watched the cat hatch from its shell. There was so much going on in this cave. It was so loud here, so filled with power and life and magic. Much more then the room of bones had ever felt. She wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not. It was at least a good place to gain allies and practice the art of speaking. Befriending the naive, innocent young ones was the requisite to her plans.

She stepped forward and moved so that she was approaching the cat in a direction that it could see. She heard its first words and almost laughed aloud. What a ridiculous thing to say, especially before anything else. If the cat didn't want to drown, it would stay away from the river. Simple. She sometimes couldn't believe the stupidity of the gems in the caves. But she had to work alongside them. That was the only way. Hopefully, this one would at least give her some amusement.

"You will not drown," she spoke, kindly, "if you do not fall in. Be careful near the edges of the river and do not swim until you know how." Advice. Teachings. Reseda was still young in relativity, but she was old enough to know. She stepped up next to the cat and smiled down warmly, letting copycat emotion fill her eyes. "Welcome, child."

Reseda tilted her head in mock confusion. "You said out loud that you didn't want to drown." Was this gembound yet another idiot that she'd thrown herself at? Would she have to put up with another fool being ridiculous? She hoped not. She'd had enough fools pestering her. She needed amusement and she needed allies.

She nodded at the cat's name. "Aurora. What a pretty name. I am Reseda." As with everyone else, she did not actually care about the gem's name. She'd find a better one, one that suited it more. Perhaps the furred one or the foolish one. No, there was more to define. She just needed to find a good one.

"So, tell me, Aurora, did you not hear yourself speak aloud?" She hoped that the cat was not deaf. That would be annoying. She didn't have any spells that would help her communicate with it. If it was deaf, then she would leave. She had no need for a deaf ally. But, then again, it had responded to her question. So it was not deaf. Perhaps just stupid.

Reseda's tail twitched with amusement. Watching gems blunder over themselves was one of the things that she truly did enjoy seeing. And this cat did it perfectly. She looked over the cat before giving her a kind smile. "That's okay! We all make mistakes sometimes." But not me.
She felt a slip in the conversation, she could feel the edge approaching. What would they talk about now? She wasn't quite sure. She had never been the forefront in a conversation before. Other gems just kind of...talked to her and she responded in kind. But now the cat had handed the lead to her. Probably because she was older, smarter, and much bigger. Or maybe the cat had nothing to say. Either way, Reseda needed to keep talking to her. Gembounds liked to talk, she had discovered.

"You speak well for your first day. There are not many gembounds that know how to communicate as soon as they hatch." This was, of course, a lie. Every gem she had ever met, save Chaos, had known speech. She had been at few hatches and those she had seen, the gems were speaking. But it would be better to let Aurora think that she was, in fact, special.
