Why do We do This to Each Other - Lust - Jan 14 2019 How long had it been since their argument? A cycle? Two? Lust had lost count. They had largely avoided the area that Envy noted as home, either flying directly to their nest or roosting elsewhere. Their last discussion had ended in disaster. While there were many that Lust had grown fond of; their Komodo dragon mentor, their beautiful deer acquaintance, their heroic eagle savior, Envy had wiggled their way deep into the center of their heart. The idea that they were upset with them had been too painful to bear. So, the pigeon had pulled away from the Sinful Seven, away from everyone … away from the weasel and the pain they caused. And yet, somehow their body had betrayed them in the end. Ruby colored eyes looked forward towards the small opening in the wall. His scent lingered strongly there; Lust couldn’t help but take a deep breath to inhale it in. Yet their eyes looked past the stone to see what should be there. It should be that strange green weasel, quills quivering and claws tapping against the stone. They should be rushing out, smiling to see them there. They should be pleased that they visited, promising to never hurt them again or to cause them worry. Why weren’t they there? Why wouldn’t they do as they asked. Lust bristled their feathers. Instinctually they groomed them back into place to distract their thoughts. But they were not so easily banished. And neither was the pigeon as they sat before the cave’s opening, lost in thought. RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Livius - Jan 15 2019
Envy's spines prickled as they pattered back towards their old home- out of no other purpose than boredom. It had been cycles since they'd been this way; usually nowadays they slept on the throne, and caring for Charity left them little time to leave. But they had... possessions in their old home. Jewels and crystals that they feared might have been stolen in their long absence, and glowing pebbles given as gifts in their distant childhood. @Lust RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Lust - Jan 15 2019 The familiar sound of bristling quills came to her ears yet they weren’t registered as being real at first. Perhaps just a distant memory flooding to the forefront of her mind or a daydream of a happier time maybe. But Lust did not expect to see the object of their thoughts. Yet them their voice soon followed, saying their name. How wonderful and yet how painful it felt to hear it spoken by them! The fancy pigeon spun around in surprise just in time to hear the question. And Lust had no response. They were surprised to see the weasel here when they had been so distant as of late. And they were bewildered by their own thoughts and what drove them to where they now stood. Did some part of them desire to seek King Envy out? For what purpose? More importantly, did they too wish to seek them out as well? Did they still care about them the way they had before? For in Lust’s mind, the weasel viewed them as preciously as they did the other. “King Envy!” they responded softly. It was as though they couldn’t believe that the mammal was there. Yet while their gizzard lurched and their heart pounded, their talons stayed firmly in place. Both longing to go by their side and to run away, instead they remained paralyzed in their spot. All of a sudden, their mind was blank. But a response had to be made. “It’s …. It’s been a while. Quite a long while ….” A slight blush appeared on their face as they ducked their head away. While it was partially their own fault to blame for the absence, Lust couldn’t help but wonder why it had been so long. Before it was so easy to talk to them. Now? … Now words were mixing up and getting caught in their throat. Emotions swirled in their clenching gizzard. What wanted to terribly to ask if Envy was well, if they were doing well as king, if they had been missed. Yet words did not come. All that came was awkward pauses and pleading glances before shifting their eyes away. "Speech looks like this." Envy nodded. They opened their jaws to speak, and then paused, finding that the words quite suddenly deserted them. Their heart hammered, and spines quivered in frustration... even if they had no idea why. Disgruntled, they settled down and hoisted themselves onto their hind legs to look taller before the elegant pigeon. @Lust RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Lust - Jan 20 2019 Silence hung, broken only by the shifting of strange quills that lined the weasel’s mutated body. It was equally an unsettling and reassuring sound. Lust had come to understand that such bristling was a sign of strong emotions and mental thought from the other. What kind of thoughts, however, was a mystery to them. Was their great majesty angry at the bird being close to their den? Elated? Was Envy’s thoughts on something else altogether? Were they already lost in their mind? The very thought made the pigeon quiver with a knot in their gizzard. A part of their brain clung hard to the idea that Envy had seek them out. That there were some outside forces that prevented her King from coming to her side after that discussion some cycles ago. In their head, they could see Envy fighting against foe after foe with only the thought of seeking out their beloved … friend? Once again. It was that thought that gave Lust a burst of hope when King Envy asked if they were missed. All ideas of being nonchalant and cold faded. This was the moment the two had obviously waited for. Surely King Envy had been eager for this moment as well. That was why it was awkward, both had waited so long for this joyful reunion. Lust suddenly tossed aside all pretenses and hopped a few steps closer, being less than a feather’s length away from the mammal. Close enough to try and read their eyes, much like how Envy could now read theirs. “Oh, King Envy! It’s been far too long! Of course, I missed you! And I’m sure you missed me as well. I’m sure that there was some reason, some important task or monster to be slayed, that kept you away for so long. None of that matters now, though, because you’ve come back to me.” The last bit was said softly with a bit of a chirp. How could Lust agonize over the past when their King had returned to them finally? "Speech looks like this." As Lust hopped forward in an unabashed display of glee, Envy stayed where they were, and simply let her come. Their quills perked up to alertness and continued to tremble, and they raised their head. Her display of affection was something that they had little idea of how to respond to and they found themselves frozen to the spot. @Lust RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Lust - Jan 25 2019 While their mammalian object of affect continued to appear stiff, Lust attributed the fact to simply the length of time they had been apart. There was no doubt that, given a bit of an adjustment period, the two of them would once again be as they were before. They would dolt on King Envy, in turn they would be cool and suave and lead them gloriously. Happy daydreams already began to form in the bird’s mind. Things were going to once again be wonderful. How they had missed it. And already Envy was returning to normal, assuming a stance of pride and puffing out their chest. Yet the words that came forth next were so utterly unexpected that it caused Lust to stare with beak a gap while processing them. It felt like ice had ran through their veins causing goosebumps to form and bristle their feathers. Those sanguine thoughts faded from their mind like dust settling in a barren cave. “A … an heir?” Lust stumbled over the word as though a rock had gotten mixed in with a pile of seeds, feeling alien and immediately out of place in their beak. King Envy … their Envy … had an heir? With a jolt their avian brain went from standstill to a rapid firing of thoughts. Lust was old enough to know about the shards and the spells. Had they been truly gone long enough for a child to be made? Had they already been so easily and so quickly replied. Their gizzard clenched tightly into knots as feelings of jealousy, angry, resentment, despair, and other complex emotions rolled one after another. It took all they had to keep from swaying on the spot. “A … an heir,” Lust repeated softly. Then they turned their sharp ruby eyes back on the Mustela. “Wh-who? Who did you combine with?!” "Who did you replace me with?!" their mind silently wailed. "Speech looks like this." RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Livius - Feb 07 2019
Envy nodded vigorously as Lust echoed their words, seemingly oblivious to the note of sheer shock on her tone. @Lust RE: Why do We do This to Each Other - Lust - Feb 19 2019
Lust silently attempted to digest the information that Envy so readily gave them. Their dear Envy had combined with Pride? In truth, he was a beautiful creature. It was no surprise that he would capture the eye of the noble king. Lust had hoped to become closer to him as well, to learn more about him and be able to watch his majestic form…. Yet it seemed that an act of betrayal occurred so strongly, the bird was yanked away from both of them at once. These thoughts did not accurately reflect the reality of the situation, but that fact was inconsequential to the avian’s mind and imagination. It was already believed that the two had an affair in their time of absence. Rage fumed inside them. Yet, unlike last time, it did not release itself in an explosive manner. It simmered quietly below the surface but for their red piercing eyes and tight beak. Lust purposely puffed their feathers, readjusting their stance and pausing before responding to Envy. “Yes. I’m sure your child ... Charity... is lovely.” The word was dripping in venom as the very thought of Envy having a child with another sickened her. “Loyalty. Yes … I suppose it was fitting for Pride to pledge his ... loyalty towards you like that. You need loyal members in your court, after all. Those who care for you and remain by your side. Those who would never betray you. Yes, I suppose Pride would be fitting for that.” Sarcasm and quiet accusations punctured the words. Regret at having tried to meet the mammal was felt. And annoyance that they had been given a chance to earn Lust’s favor in the first place only to have their heart twisted like so. "Speech looks like this." Envy could be thick skulled, usually through wilful ignorance, when it came to picking up subtlety in body language and dropped hints. But at this moment in time even they knew that something was off. The venom dripping from Lust's words caused them to immediately tense and slightly narrow their eyes, looking at her with a mixture of disbelief and trepidation. @Lust |
