The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - Mara Jade - Jun 16 2020 Sleep, it came and went in intervals. But when she dreamed, she dreamed of a pure white girl, Their snowy pelt always closeby. She shifted in her ever smaller sleeping arrangements. She stirred within the confines of her tiny prison. Claws scraped against the solid surface of her prison. She could feel someone nearby, someone just like her. Who was it? Was it her other half? Were they one and the same or were they two halves of the same being, born in different bodies? She twisted within the confines of her solid walled prison. She growled in her own mind. This prison was too small now. She could barely move, everytime she tried to fully stretch out she was stopped by a solid wall. The young black creature curled into a small ball, then she stretched out as far as she could. She placed her paws against one of the solid walls, she pushed hard against the wall. Suddenly, a small crack appeared in the wall. Light began streaming through the crack and into her little prison. Excitement filled the little black creature as she relaxed for a moment withdrawing her paws from the wall. Closing her eyes she placed her paws on the wall once more, she focused all her strength and pushed against the wall. The crack grew larger by just a little. More light began to fill the inside of the liquid filled gem spike. The liquid from inside began to leak down the front of the gem cluster. Again, the little black creature, a dog she called herself relaxed and let her legs rest. She placed her paws once again on the solid surface, she focused her energy and pressed as hard as she could again on the surface. This time the wall gave way with a resounding crack. The liquid from inside the gem flowed freely onto the ground as the little black canine like creature tumbled out of the gem chrysalis. Sunset orange optics cast around the area. It was a small room, with four walls, a single entrance and a small window on one wall. There beside her own little prison stood another gem. Weakly the young canine with paws far too large for her own body to be graceful yet carried the canine over to the other chrysalis. Was this the one she dreamed about? Was this the one she thought was her other half? The small ebony colored canine lifted onto her hind legs and rested her forepaws on the gem. @Riverdancer RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - PlaceholderName - Jun 16 2020 River, on the other hand, was rather content to stay in her warm chrysalis, curled up in a tight ball, fast asleep, and dreaming. Something like her, but with ebony fur and amber eyes. Her other half, she thought vaguely. Eyes opened and she heard something, muffled by the liquid in her egg and the thick wall leading out. She struggled and wiggled, feet scrabbling at the wall of her egg, striking it once, twice, before it split open and she spilled out onto the floor, coughing weakly and inhaling sharply. She shivered gently where she lay, ears flat against her head, her stark white fur gleaming in the dim light, like a moon. Her sky-blue eyes peeled open, and she coughed wetly, head wobbly as she lifted it to peer around. She saw Mara, the one she'd seen in her dreams, and slowly stood up, shaking herself off. She 'boofed' softly as she stumbled towards her, sniffing the other eagerly as her tail began to wag. Her sister... @Mara Jade RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - Mara Jade - Jun 16 2020 The young canine girl watched as her snowy other half tumbled out onto the ground coughing and sputtering out the liquid from her chrysalis. The young canine leaned down and nuzzled the new young one. The young ebony canine watched as the snowy one lifted from the ground. She was unstable on her new legs, while Mara was already strong having forced her way free from her chrysalis. She had been a determined one always moving and shifting this way and that in her chrysalis. Always testing her muscles to make them stronger while she floated alon and dreaming often dreaming of this lovely other half. The ebony girl stood there dripping for a moment as she watched her other half shake off, making sure she wasn’t going to collapse. Then the ebony girl shook her body free of the liquid from her chrysalis. The young ebony girl let out a soft whine as she allowed her lightly furred banner to wave lightly in happiness, she stepped forward nuzzling into her sister’s shoulder. The ebony girl stood there allowing the snowy girl to rest on her side if she wished, so she wasn’t putting all her weight on her new legs. “Sister, River?” The young girl managed to vocalize these two simple words. The first a word that came to mind anytime she had dreamed of the white one, and the second the name she heard anytime she tried to speak to the whiyte in her dreams. She was sure of this. “Sister okay?” The ebony girl asked nuzzling into the white girls back. @Riverdancer RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - PlaceholderName - Jun 16 2020 River sneezed and snuggled into Mara's side, shivering gently from the cold air on her wet fur, "... Okay. Mara?" She shook her head out and sniffled gently, taking a few steps to sniff at their broken chrysalises. She looked to Mara and then around at the room they were in, and walked forward on shaky legs to inspect around. "... Where...?", she said softly, ear perking up as she poked her head outside. Gasping softly, she looked up, the cave ceiling sparkling above them. It was... beautiful. "Mara,", she said, "Mara!" She jumped out into the open air and skid to a stop, sniffing at everything she saw eagerly. Her floppy ears were all over the place, her tail wagging a mile a minute as she explored the area. @Mara Jade RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - Mara Jade - Jun 17 2020 The young ebony colored canine leaned into the snowy female. She gently nuzzled the snowy female reassuringly. Then the snowy one spoke assuring her that she was okay. A wave of relief washed over her as she allowed her gaze to shift around the rather nondescript room. It was in bad shape, but still acted as a good place for them to hide at the moment. The ebony canine watched her sister inspect their chrysalis’. “Pretty.” Was the only word that came out of the young canine’s mouth as she stepped up beside her sister to inspect her own former home. They had come from those gems. It was lovely and strange at the same time. They had been born from those large chunks of gem. Standing there thinking it over the young canine gave a wave of her elegant banner. Mara watched her sister for a moment as she asked where. Obviously meaning where they were. The young ebony canine gave a shake of her head. “D-Don’t know.” Was the answer that came in a sweet gentle voice. She had no idea where they were, or exactly what to call the place they were. She watched her sister move to the door out of their protective cave like thing. She tilted her head to one side as her sister reacted to something beyond the doorway. Then her sister began excitedly calling her name. Curiously the young canine trotted up beside her sister, to see what all the fuss was about. The young ebony canine turned her face to the ceiling where she was awestruck by the beauty of the glittering ceiling. She stood for a moment just admiring it. Then turned to look at her sister, both ears falling in on the center of her head. Her sister was romping and bouncing about like the joyous pup that she was. Without a second thought the young ebony girl followed eagerly after her sister. @Riverdancer RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - PlaceholderName - Jun 17 2020 River shook her head and padded off through the abandoned streets, ears perked up and eyes roaming, her tail wagging happily. So many scents- so much to see! She turned to Mara and got down on her belly, yapping at her before taking off at a dead sprint, wanting to start a game of chase to get rid of her anxious energy. Only... she skid to a stop suddenly, ears pinning. A rabbit. The two of them stared at each other, stunned by the sudden appearance of the other, the tense air so thick you could cut it with a knife. River took a step forward and bolted, jaws snapping at the rabbit as it took off. They darted around the area like their asses were on fire until finally... River's jaws snapped down on its tail, grabbing it tightly before throwing it to the ground and grabbing it again by the throat, shaking back and forth to kill it quickly. Her breaths came in short pants as she turned around to canter towards Mara, holding out the rabbit proudly. @Mara Jade RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - Mara Jade - Jun 17 2020 Mara watched as her sister began to walk off down the empty street. The young ebony canine leaped after her sister, large paws much too big for her body flopped as she trotted forward after her sister. Amber colored eyes looked around at the ruined buildings lining the street, and she couldn’t help but wonder what this place could once have been. Brilliant amber eyes shifted down to her sister, who was posed with her hindquarters in the air. She wanted to play. She watched her sister dart off and she quickly took after her sister, always ready to play. Suddenly her sister slid to a stop, and Mara slid to a stop right behind her, narrowly missing being nose first in her sister’s hiny. “Why do that?” The young ebony girl questioned why her sister had stopped so suddenly. Mara stood watching her sister chase after the little rabbit, head cocked to the side. She wanted to chase too but her sister was already on it before she could even twitch a muscle. Then it was all over, the rabbit let out a squeal only once before River had taken its life. As River cantered back to Mara, the little ebony pup danced in a circle and grinned at her sister. “River good!” The young pup exclaimed joyously. River had just caught their first meal. In her excitement the young ebony canine let out several happy yips that were accompanied by little flurries of bubbles coming from her mouth. @Riverdancer RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - PlaceholderName - Jun 17 2020 River dropped the rabbit and jumped along with Mara, laughing happily as she chased the bubbles, delighted as they popped mid-air. She returned to the rabbit and tore it in two, giving Mara one half before digging into her own, munching quite happily on the bunny. "... Mara good too,", she said after a few seconds, smiling up at her sibling as she chowed down on her meal. River started to lick herself clean after eating the rest of her dinner (or breakfast, it was hard to tell in a cave), washing her paws and her face thoroughly, blue eyes blinking away gently. After a while she stood again, exploring around once more as her sibling ate as well, ears perked and tail wagging gently. She flopped down next to Mara and rested her head on the other's shoulder, eyes closing as she dozed peacefully. Foolishly, she believed that nothing could hurt them. Though there was nothing around, she was wrong. Hopefully, they'd find out peacefully. @Mara Jade RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - Mara Jade - Jun 17 2020 Mara looked stunned for a moment as the bubbles began floating from her mouth. SHe couldn’t help the delighted giggle that escaped her as she bounced around for a moment chasing the bubbles. The young canines stomach growled making her realize just how hungry she actually was. A bright smile spread across the pup’s muzzle as she looked down at the half of the rabbit. It looked tasty and she couldn’t help the bit of drool that dripped from her mouth before she dug into the soft delightful flesh of the rabbit, rump in the air tail waving joyfully. The young canine consumed everything save for the bones, which he little baby teeth could not yet crack. After finishing her dinner the young ebony canine sat down and began the arduous task of cleaning herself. It was after all polite to clean oneself after a meal, was it not? Or at the very least good etiquette to keep yourself clean right? As River lay down against her and began to snooze, the young ebony girl yawned wide as she lay down beside her sister. Another wide yawn parted the young ebony canine’s jaws as she glanced around through half lidded tired eyes. It was nap time, and hopefully there wouldn’t be anything to disrupt their sleep. RE: The Jade River [Hatching Mara & River] - PlaceholderName - Jun 17 2020 River snuggled up against her sister and sighed happily, paws stretching out before she curled up with her tail flopped over her nose, blue eyes closed and breaths soft. It wasn't long before she truly drifted off, the warmth of her sibling at her back comforting her as she dozed off. Exit Riverdancer to sleep. @Mara Jade |
