RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Ace - Mar 29 2023

So far the entire battle had been a joke for him: a pathetic showing, his opponents did little more than clown about in a vain attempt to lay a single graze upon his flesh. Mirac, that poor excuse for a blade, had to call upon Chaos' Oil-dripping inferiority to finagle the scarcest chance of landing a blow against the flying fiend. He knew it from the clench of an invisible giant's hand upon wings which had forced his flight to dip and miss his mark. As soon as the sensation hit, Ace snarled and spat at the cheat, no skill evident in the use of such tricks.

"What's wrong, Wrecky? Can't live up to the hype? I thought this was a battle of the worthy, not a pro against a yappy hunk of metal chump!"

Pulling up from his dive to the sound of the sword's own boastful claims, he peered down to catch the attack that might follow. Upon witnessing the rise of a wavering tentacle only for it to collapse into a dark spill on the sand, laughter boomed. This, he mused with tears pricking at eyes, was what the self-proclaimed bringer of death and destruction had to offer? The Praetors might be better foes if all he could provide was side-splitting failure to harm.

Then a armor-clad golden-brown meteor of feathers blasted by to crater into the beach below. The comedic cymbal clash after Mirac's anticlimatic drumroll of danger, it finally was too much for Ace to handle. He paused his ascent at the uproarious situation, a shred of willpower what kept him from plummeting to earth himself to crash as a quaking, guffawing mass of Drone.

"Hey, I get it now! You're a distraction!" he crowed. "Good one! True blade, my pretty pale ass!"

Before he could decide next whether the fight was worth more than a single hit extra to end it, a shock hit the entire Hive. A mind had been extinguished in a blaze of anguish. As if it'd been his own throat thrust through, he jerked in place, a gasp gusting through fangs. The space in the network once filled by Bone lay empty when he probed at the other flyer.

The first casualty of theirs that had a name attached, one of his comrades though clearly lower ranking than him when it came to aerial support, the absence agitated. Mother, his dear Mother stoked that small distress into a crackling bonfire. He'd been dallying for too long with weak opponents, should have been targeting the true threats. The price had been paid by another's life.

He snorted, shook his head. "Oh, you got me good there. But I've got better things to do than play war with some stick. Can't believe I fell for that shit."

Three priority targets. Choices to make. Or he could decide at random. Whichever, the enemy would have lost a valued member of their operation, more than enough to make up for Bone biting dust.

About to resume his climb upward to gain a better vantage point of those designated as dead meat, the charge of a non-Ordered dragon from beneath took him off guard. The torrent of sparks and heat expelled from Dread's maw almost scorched his underbelly and drew out an indignant squawk unbidden when it threatened to burn away at neck and face alike. Throwing himself to the side managed to save his good looks, but nevertheless the fact it'd nearly happened left him a spluttering, undignified mess.

"Everyone wants a piece of me, is that it! Well, tough luck. This guy isn't anyone's toasty lunch. You hear that! Nobody!"

Like an answer to his challenge, the lights began to die at that very moment.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Alcina - Mar 31 2023

Alcina has scarcely a moment to realize that her opponent is about to use her momentum against her. Vargas's gleaming black spikes shine in her eyes as she lashes out with her talons, trying to find some purchase in the sand beneath her to stop her from impaling herself on the Valkhound.

She slows, stopping just at the limit of Vargas's reach, his spines scratching the insides of her jaw and knocking a few teeth loose. It hurts like hell - but she can keep going.

@Vargas

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Alcina - Mar 31 2023

Cursed things! she hisses mentally, even if it is drowned across the link by all the chaos of the fighting.

Alcina is thinking of her next attack, as she backpedals away from Vargas. She sees Dread's shadow coming, and her scrabbling across the sand turns from practiced to frantic as fire rains down.

It's pointless though, as the sand refuses to give her purchase this time, and the burning flames wrap around Alcina, twisting her white hide into a blackened gnarled mess. She howls in pain, a terrible roar of agony.

@Dread

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Alcina - Mar 31 2023

She's on her last legs, even as the lights shut off and plunge the room into darkness. She is, however, galvanized by Mother's fury pouring through the link, as She points out her current opponent is the enemy general.

Even as the flames still cling to her hide, she charges at Vargas again, trying to slam him and knock him off his footing. She lets out a horrible shriek as she does, wild and rampaging.

@Vargas

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Vargas - Mar 31 2023

- THE LEVIATHAN -

Vargas snarled, jerking back in a scrabble of limbs as a flamethrower blast of dragon's breath swept the sand just before him. The heat was blistering--a strike on his own target--and it was blinding, too. It did not help that an instant later, everything went black. Not shadowed, as if by wings above, but pitch blinding black.

Well done, he thought to Cain--assuming that link remained--a roar of praise mid-battle. Then he was pressing his advantage--lunging blindly for the space Alcina had been an instant before as she'd missed her strike, all claws and fangs in a rare attempt to shred with his sharktoothed mouth.

He did not know where her gemstone was--the Clearstone he could sense, with its unnatural rigidity--but its location he could not pinpoint. If he had, he'd have tried to tear it out but for now, he'd have to make do with shredding: latching onto whatever flesh he could find, and destroying it.

@Alcina

feel free to leave this to next round if it's too much for one round lol

Also @Cain sort of-

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Bebby - Mar 31 2023

Bebby liked leo. she really did! even if she got sticky and gross, the fruit was great and there was fish to eat.

so of course, when she shoved up through one of the opposite tunnels and heard the commotion, she rushed over.

her eyes flicked between the warring forces, some were gembound that looked kinda normal, but others were weird as HELL. among them, she recognized vargas. heyyy, she just saw that guy a few days ago!!

he was fighting someone, everyone who seemed to be with him was, the weird white n red toothed monsters. she could do that!!! vargas said she could be useful to them right??? nows her time to shine!!

its time to blast.

she would divebomb into the action, only barely managing not to hit the ground nearby, before swerving back upward.

"HI MASTER VARGAS!!" she would screech, before her eyes locked onto the other flying beast, one that shared the characteristics of the other monsters vargas and his jolly crew were beating up.

"ohohoho, lets GO"

she would fly closer, still a good several feet away, and yelled to ace. "HEY LOSER, CHECK IT"

she would try to spark forth her magic, a BLAST from her throat, but it fizzled in the back of her airways, making her cough. she'd attempt to save face by making it seem like a regular taunt, no failed magic involved, but how affective it was is to be determined.

@Ace

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Zoey - Apr 02 2023

Content Warning
This post contains potentially sensitive material:
death threats

Darkness swallowed the Zoisite whole as its target slipped away. Its foes did not seem to register it as a threat, or simply figured that they would deal with it later. Maybe there was something more pressing to deal with.

Mandibles ground together, frustrated as the worm swung through the darkness, talons tearing through the sand. It threw its head skyward and screeched.

As it did, light began to pour from it, becoming a beacon in the abyss. "COWARDS!!" It roared, feeling the rage that had blinded their sibling cycles, cycles, cycles ago. A perpetuating cycle of destruction, the ouroboros devouring its own head.

Kill. Kill. Kill.

"I WILL KILL YOU!! YOU ALL WILL BECOME NOTHING BUT BONES!" The shadows that danced in its vision from the golden light that poured out of every inch of carapace were hard to discern, but it did not hesitate, it lunged toward any movement before it. It threw itself into the hypothetical (and perhaps literal) flame, quills rattling a war song as it screeched for death.

It had never, truly, been taught how to fight in a true battle. Instinct, rage, fear, they all mingled together in a sickening cocktail. "FIGHT ME! KILL ME!! I WILL DESTROY YOU!" Its voice was drowned out by the sounds of dragons' roars and magic, but nothing could stop the light from making it a literal sun among the abyss of war.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Juggernaut - Apr 02 2023

It did not consider itself a petty creature, nor one that was fond of causing upset on purpose. But such etiquette was often thrown to the wind in war, paper in a hurricane. Weightless, worthless. He couldn’t deny the glee it brought him, to see the goat man’s face contort with such emotion. They were such fragile creatures. and then

A black blade cut through the air, and then and then and then

Flesh. Bone. Brain. Mind. Friend. Family.

Sister.

The crash to the ground, shattering force - but even that felt tiny, insignificant, pointless pointless pointless - compared to the roaring of oblivion, surging down the line like black waters. It swallowed him. It swallowed them all. Juggernaut choked out a suffocated scream. It did not know death.

It was only a child, after all.

Her life leaked onto the sand.

Chrysalis or corpse, it did not matter. Another pale shape swooped down, and although she shrieked her own grief, he didn’t feel anything down the line. Nothing but his other siblings, angry, distressed, mourning - and the absence that their sister had left. The lack was an entity itself, tangible like a leaking wound. It would not leave his mind. ’End them.’ Silent to all who couldn’t understand.

As the Warden knocked away at a stinger, the entire cave fell to darkness, heralded by Azrael’s roar. He could whine all he liked, kick and scream - the drone would not give him the attention he craved. But before he could knock the thing down, trample and crush it for daring to assist that- the wretched mistake of a life that had struck bone down - it felt more distress down the line. Alcina was under threat too, by the leader of the oil-beasts himself. As much as vengeance was an alluring concept, his main priority was keeping everyone alive. He had failed once already. Never again.

’Sister - fall back. I can help.’ Its leg throbbed with use, liquid dribbling from the end. It retained full use of the other three, and that was more than enough for it - it rushed to her defence, trying to shove his body in the space between the combatants. But it was too little, too late. He stumbled, blinded and limping, so close, so so close to where he had planned - but he was too far away. There was only prayer now. Mother, keep her safe - please.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Draconua - Apr 03 2023

And after all that fanfare spent heralding a cataclysmic end, it's the Leviathan's (second) favorite little pet who seizes all the attention; who spears the glory of being impossible to ignore. Draconua, the Sleepless Chaos, a footnote in comparison— !

It makes her furious. Incandescent. A twisting, writhing mass that crashes into the watery depths back-first.

She cares not for the consequences of such an impact, nor the darkness swallowing Leo whole; not even for her own dignity as she flails like a drowning dog to remain with her head above the waves with a spluttering roar.

Claws catch on the sandy bottom of the sea, and Draconua hauls herself out to her elbows with a gasping, rattling wheeze. A beacon shines out across the sands, and isn't it almost unfortunate how quickly a drowned rat's attention can redirect toward the idea of security? How quickly Draconua reassesses her goals? The Sentinel is no longer visible in the dark, and this clamoring beast is— all to draw attention to itself.

An incidental rescue is no longer in store for the Sentinel. It, instead, is for Zoisite.

The Valkhound shambles over with heaving, limping strides. Oily water cascades off her in waves as she half-gallops, seeping into the sands with an audible sizzle of evaporation. Leftover electricity seizes her joints at the last few meters before her destination; but, before she skids to a halt to avoid falling flat on her face a surge of wicked magic is launched through the very earth in front of the zoisite.

What forms, then, is a veritable pit of spikes amid cascading, falling sand. One that swells and grows with every rush of magic until Draconua nearly finds her front half slipping and falling in.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Glory - Apr 03 2023

Glory was taking a while to piece himself back together after his devestating fall, taking his busted, dented chestplate off before it pressed too hard into his chest. He groaned with despair as he tossed it aside, away from the fighting, hoping that it would survive the rest of the fight so that he could repair it later. Right now its condition was unwearable but fixable. But it could easily get a lot worse.

Once he was freed and recovered, he stood up, thankful that nobody had attacked him while in such a vulnerable state, but just as he turned to try and figure out where Dread was so that he could assist, all the lights blinked out.

"SHIT," he squawked, trying to reorient himself, but he couldnt see anything in the darkness. There were flames, but he couldnt pinpoint their origins. There were eyes glowing in the dark, but no bodies to go with. He whipped around, unable to fly when he couldnt see, unable to do anything.

But then a beacon alit, a single ray of light cut through the blanket of black. An insectoid creature, blood-red, screaming about death and violence and certainly making itself both a target and a threat.

Well! Such bloodlust was a danger to the innocent! That was his simple line of reasoning at least as he swung fully to face the zoisite. He didnt trust his near-blind night vision to carry him safely over so he stood a distance away and made to send his own torrent of flame its way.

But...nothing happened. No fire spat from his beak. He clacked it shit and stood back, affronted at his own failure to cast magic. What the hell was happening?
