RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Toboggan - May 08 2022 Toboggan had pondered the He waited until there was a lull in the crowd- he wanted as few 'witnesses' as possible, in case people got angry at him for turning this cool magic rock into a cool, perhaps non-magical person. And then he'd scoot over- trying to use his new gift from the wishing stone to boost himself along. Once he got there, he'd place his nose against the stone's surface, just like before. "You've been giving people all these cool wishes, right? Like me 'n Vasil! Thank you for that by the way- BUT ANYWAYS- You're like, a person, i think? Like, you have emotions like a people! But you don't have a body, so you're stuck here, and I think that's sad. So I'm wishing for! A body for you! And maybe once you have a body, we can explore and hang out? If you want!" And he'd supply ideas for the 'body', trying to remember every gembound he'd seen, greater or lesser. So a lot of ursa's wildlife, and Vasil, and maybe a few other's he'd found wandering through Ursa. Oh, and the great deal of people around this rock, but he figured the wishing stone had already seen them. Urm, if it could 'see.' He had no idea if this would even work, but he hoped it would- after everything The Wishing Stone had done, it deserved this, right? ((Note to GMs: Please grant this wish LAST since like.. otherwise it'd probably mess with things.)) RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Bayo - May 08 2022 Bayo returned today after having left the previous day rambling about his new bones. Today he showed up with flowers and set them around the stone before sitting back, a grin on his face and his tail wagging behind him. ”I brought ya flowers! I didn' know wha' color ya liked, so I jus' got all of 'em,” he said. ”But fer today's wish, I want a horse! I read in th' library that cowboys have horses! I wanna have a horse that'll take me anywhere and can be a friend t' me. A companion! If that's alright.” Bayo licked his lips bashfully and looked down, tapping his front paws in excitement. And boy was he excited. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Akane - May 08 2022 Well, who's going to say no to investigating a cool rock? Certainly not Akane, now squatting before it with her hands propped upon her knees. Her tail lashes to either side, thinly-veiled curiosity in dilated pupils and crookedly-grinning tusks. She's not going to take wishing upon a star for granted, no— "Hey there, rock-stuff," she says in the same way you greet a particularly nice-looking lady at a club, "hear you have the power to grant wishes and make thoughts into reality, or whatever. Cool shit."
Clawed fingers rap against the surface of it, chiming along with the song already emanating from the surface of it. "So, hear me out. I've been thinkin' about this... cool axe. Not a crazy big one, so it's not like I'm swinging with my entire body, but it's also got a string or chain or something so I can windmill it around and reach stuff with it. Maybe on fire, too. I wanna be able to protect my kid better with it. She means... a whole lot to me, and she's a good'un." Glittering eyes refocus on the stone, and no matter how instantaneously or not at all her wish is granted, the Oni nods resolutely, "Listen, I'll add to this nice collection of stuff you've got in a bit. Hang tight." RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Pip - May 08 2022 "Ah, there! I knew I heard something Blue! Its another rock--like you!" Pip said. She hummed a pleased little melody. Pip wasn't that far from it when she saw it, but she was leagues beneath the size of other gembound. So a short walk for a creature of normal size became a comparatively long trek to the stone for her. Little Blue was silent for a good few moments as she walked, its googly eyes softly bouncing. Then it spoke. '...Can it make me not a rock? I'd like to be able to walk. Or roll. Maybe I could..rock and roll." The stone said. "Sure!" Pip said, oblivious to the heinous crime of comedy that Little Blue had just committed not even an inch away from her. "You can roll already though, cant you? Well, I can make you!" Pip hummed. Maybe I could wish you could roll on your own!" "I guess...um, do we have to go near so...many gembound? I'm sure there'd be another opportunity. It'll be here for another thousand years or so." Pip hummed, stopping in her tracks. "I guess we could wait! Oh, ill just wait until more people leave! Then we can go up!" Little blue begrudgingly agreed, and when the gembound for the day had thinned the slightest, the over-excitable Pip could wait no longer. She bounced up to the stone, excitement flooding her. As at last Pip came upon the stone, she braced her legs before jumping upon it. It was smooth and hard to stick to, and the little mantis barely kept herself and Little Blue from tumbling as she clambered atop it. The melody it chimed filled Pip with joy, and she began to hum along with it."Hi stone! You're very pretty! I like how you shift colors and your garden here! You make very good music--ooh, look! I can make music too!" She began to shake as her body resonated. It was hard to keep track of two melodies at once, and while Pip began the same notes with gusto, her melody fell off, drowning into a sound reminiscent of a sadly ringing bell before fading out. "Oh, thats too bad," Pip said, her voice dipping slightly. She recovered quick as ever, though. "Thats okay, though! I like listening to your melody all the same! I really like talking to you even though you've just made noises, can you talk like Little Blue can?" Pip said, holding up the stone, who offered a somber sounding little 'hi', its googly eyes swirling. Not that it was likely the stone would be able to hear it. "Oh, its okay if you cant! The spire--that big glowy rock in the center cant talk, but its still my friend! It gave me Little Blue! Oh, uhm, I actually have a wish for Little Blue! Can you give Little Blue legs? Little Blue says it wants to roll but doesn't have legs so I think giving Little Blue legs would make them happy! If you can do that i'd be super happy!" Pip's purple eyes stared at the stone, bright. Emotions were hard to parse through her face, though her speech and excited mannerisms gave it away easily. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Effluvium - May 08 2022 The aura of excitement and joy around the stone was soon to be disrupted. A horrible stench, the sickly sweet of rotting animal wafted over the area. And not long after, its' source was soon visible. The hulking form of Effluvium, looking absolutely fleshy and altogether unpleasant as usual. Effluvium was oblivious to those there as it pushed its way through, leaving a trail as it went. The creature commanded space of the crystal as it placed a wretched arm on the stone. red mucus leeching off of it. It worked its collection of jaws and tongues into a speaking position, before it formed words. Guttural, wet sounding words. "Effluvium...want...one...free..meat. Or..kill...meat easier. Effluvium...give...rock." It said. A curled tentacle on its back unfurled, dropping three pebbles and sticky globules of dust and mucus in front of the stone. Effluvium clearly hadn't put too much time nor thought into this. Yet even so, it was oddly kind of Effluvium to give something back, despite what...it had, exactly, given back. Was it a change of heart? Self-reflection from the many mistakes it had made in its previous cycles? Or was it simply mimicking the actions of those nearby? Most likely the latter. Effluvium sat back, its multitude of feet scraping at the ground impatiently, and its' collection of multicolored eyes staring at the wishing stone. A tongue swept out to clean its eye, as the rest of them panted, dog-like. "When I speak." When I think. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Kaimana - May 08 2022 Kaimana swiftly accepted the shiny and the directions, excited for meeting this mysterious black dragon of Leo. She hummed back to the stone, almost unconsciously mimicking its notes. This reminded her of two things: one, studying music in Cepheus, and two, a wish she had yet to make. She'd slither off, gold in maw, heading for safe storage. It was likely this dragon could wait 'til after her next wish, which would also make things quite a bit easier. ~*~ He came back with a swift order: RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Skein - May 08 2022 Skein tried very hard to act as if it hadn't noticed the wishing stone watching it. So hard that it was painfully obvious that it knew its' attempted stealthy approach had failed, and judging by the way its ears were pinned, it was at least slightly embarrassed. Then Skeins brain caught up to the vision. "Wait--what do you mean the Aquarian eats people? That...thats not right we live so close to him and..and...I was RIGHT! Dads judgment was wrong! Aquarian eats people which means we can't trust Aquarian! Or any other gembound , they could all be people eaters!" It was a bit of a leap of logic, sure, but it worked for Skein. The clatter of wood on stone had Skein's eyes drifting down to the magnifying glass. It glared at it suspicion, then looked back up at the wishing stone. "Why'd you give me a stick with clear stuff on it? Do I throw this thing at intruders or something? Looks pretty sturdy, I guess..." Skein said, trailing off. They picked up the magnifying glass with a foot, eyeing it, as if expecting the magnifying glass to pull some heinous betrayal. As Skein waved it in the air, it briefly hovered over the form of the wishing stone, illuminating it in bright colors. Skein's eyes widened. Conflicting emotions flooded Skein. With this they'd know for sure who was and wasn't safe, sure, but Skeins siblings relied on Skein. Saw them as the bastion of knowledge and truth! If they knew they could trust whoever the magnifying glass showed them, would they still rely on Skeins assessments? Would they follow a kind gembounds assessments into harm? With a plotting squint of the eyes, Skein waddled back the way they came, to Cetus. To share the gift they'd received, and warn Dragon that Aquarian ate people. New knowledge, surely. Maybe also exaggerate what the colors Skein had seen meant. Not even offering the poor, generous wishing stone a word of thanks or acknowledgement. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Friend - May 08 2022 Friend.. had been without their namesake for a while. As it turns out, most friend-able people tend to live on the land, which was inaccessible to the (now quite large) fish. There was Brandle, but he was often busy, although he was apologetic that he couldn't spend more time with friend. There were the lesser fish, but they often swarmed away at any attempts to conversation. So, the wishing stone lured him in like a fishing hook, if not for the promise of a wish come true, then for a promise of a potential conversation. He'd pop his head just out of the water, leaving his gills and everything else submerged. "Oh! Hi! You're granting people wishes? That's really nice of you!" He'd begin. "If you don't mind, I have a request. I'm stuck in the water, you see, but everyone else in on the land. I'd LOVE to go up there with them, but I simply cant. Anything to let me go on land for even a little bit would be the GREATEST help." He'd lurch out of the water to awkwardly slap the stone, quickly submerging back into the river. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Wilder - May 08 2022 Wilder returned a few days later, looking a little shy, eyes narrowed slightly and ears curled back. She sat before the stone again when nobody was around and leaned forward. She'd been thinking about her last wish for a number of days, what she needed right now. Well, obviously she knew what she needed - companions, friends to talk to and love. But sometimes it was difficult to forge those connections so easily and sometimes she was alone with her thoughts and had nowhere else to put them. Sometimes she needed someone to grab and cry onto and break down with who wouldn't judge, wouldn't require anything back but her care and affection. It was too much to ask of anyone, of course. She just hoped it wasn't too direct or out of the stone's power. RE: [Event] The Wishing Stone - Vasil - May 08 2022 Along with the hyperactive hyperthoughtful puppy came his sententious rider-coatimundi-friend-thing, who had thought a lot less about the stone since they first saw it. I mean, granting wishes was super neat and all, it was just... not beneficial to Vasil at the moment. Like, okay, it wasn't as if they had everything. There was still a lot they lacked, but it was mainly... there was a perfectly logical, rational explanation for why Vasil Anyways, Vasil had come up with a thing they couldn't quite get through their own willpower. Something To would definitely enjoy. 'Ok, so I'm also going to need an adventure for To. Something he'd enjoy in a place he can reach. If you can do that.' And that'd be all from Vasil. Hopefully that would be possible, probable, and now Vasil would presumably have the means to keep Toboggan somewhat healthier on that adventure. It was rough, looking after a thrill-seeker like him, but not as rough for Vasil because Vasil had it down. |
