RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Esther - May 31 2021
Yes! The attacks and spells were working! They moved into the room rather than just in front of the door then, wading right through the area that was making everyone feel sick. Them, included. The feeling situated right in their throat, a heat that made them want to hack up their insides. They didn't though, and instead prepared their magic once again. BATTLE REPORT 100%
ATTEMPT: Create an oxygen bubble around the kraken to drown it
DEFENSE: N/A INJURIES: Diseased RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Whale - May 31 2021
The impact, when it came, was like a fully-loaded double-sized truck crashing into a regular-sized truck. Whale was slammed backward, taking the full brunt of the blow as ribs cracked and a flipper was crushed against her side. She was finding out quickly that blubber could only do so much to defend against a fifty-foot kraken. Attempt: body slam the kraken right back (preferably somewhere without ice spikes sticking out) Defense: just the usual whale anatomy, recently consumed a regenerative gel ball Injuries: diseased, several fractures from being body slammed (if Kaimana wants to toss her an orb I can edit it in to before she attacks) RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Kaimana - May 31 2021 Hopefully that tip would be of use. It seemed as though some were focusing their aim on the pustules, which was pleasing and intriguing to Kaimana. She wanted to know what would happen -- if the pain would only rile the Kraken up further, making it a more dangerous enemy, or if it was too weakened to suitably retaliate. (Kaimana was of the adamantine opinion that she would be exhausted if she were being mobbed by this many creatures at once, but then again she was not a fifty foot long Kraken.) Words of encouragement would be given, and Kaimana, too, would feel inspired by them. A figure would catch her attention, one quite large and seemingly suited to the water. They looked terribly injured, and yet they looked to be ready to charge right in again. Acquainted with the recklessness of others, Kaimana could only hope to help as best she could: by trying to get their attention before they went off (swimming over, flashing her light, and wiggling around), and tossing them her regenerative pouch. Well, 'tossing' -- as close to 'tossing' as one could get down here. "It's a regenerative pouch. Eat some of the gel in there before rushing back in. Good luck!" Text. Kaimana said via the Pattylink: "It's a regenerative pouch. Eat some of the gel in there before rushing back in. Good luck!" RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Ascent - Jun 01 2021
As it turned out, they did not die. Yet. The whale, who called herself Whale, had blocked the full force of the Kraken's attack, giving them a precious moment to get farther away. Still, the flailing tentacle lashed into them, knocking them backward and stunning them for a moment.
Encouraged by the others' successes and their adamantine will: the lightning, the slashing of Khavur's claws, Whale's determination, and particularly their mother's ice magic; they darted forward, taking advantage of their sinuous shape to dart between the icy spears Carja had created. Their eyes focused on a festering sore. Almost instantly, they decided that biting it wouldn't be a good idea--they were already feeling rather sick as-was. Instead, they lashed out with their talons, aiming to tear with claws rather than teeth. Then, they would aim to get away as quickly as possible in order to hide in the relative safety of the ice spears, already in the process of turning around even as their claws swept at the kraken. Attempt: Scratch a sore Defense: hide in the ice spears if they can get away in time. Injuries: Slightly smashed, diseased RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Dragon - Jun 02 2021
Brandle's cry echoed along Dragon's link, and he struggled to weave back, to stay close. "HERE!" he thought, and though everyone would hear the thought it was very clearly his. Dark eyes flashed over the writhing tentacles, the open wounds, the--everything, churning in the dark waters--and Dragon cast his mind back to the warning someone had called in the chaos. That the sores seemed a weak point. "AVOID THOSE TEETH, AND THE TENTACLES!" he warned his child (and anyone else who would listen). Then he surged forward, ridged tail propelling him swiftly ahead. He cut through the dark like an arrow, limbs tucked close. Made for this. He slid in close, jaws parting, snapping shut--on nothing, as a thick arm jerked away from him at the last moment. The vacuum it left spun him forward, then away into the dark again, and he hissed his disapproval. RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Blight - Jun 02 2021 Attikias's words rang in his mind, and sparked that little bit of hope in him. Not that he was hopeless; but now the thrill of combat was striking him, where it hadn't before. Carja had called out for help but someone else had gotten to her before he had--and he had a feeling, looking over the pustulant, festering wounds across the Kraken's body, that he alone was in a unique position to strike, here. Blight summoned up the full reserves of his power, building--building--and then released it in a blast toward the Kraken, holding nothing back. If this beast was the host for a thousand diseases, he would damp down its body and let its own weapons surge through it and destroy it. He could not get a grip--his magic slipped--and he began a slow swim forward, careful in the chaos not to get struck by a passing combatant. Slithering, snakelike, he wound his way closer--he'd need to be closer-... Could he do this? RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Hestia - Jun 02 2021 She traveled, not able to say or do much else other than hope her will to cleanse what sickness stood within the waters and of her ally would take hold and come to fruition. @Whale
Battle Report Attempt: Healing and removing the disease from Whale! Defense: Maintaining distance, and general defense Injuries: Slightly battered, diseased RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Fahl - Jun 03 2021
The sharp rake of claws over Kraken flesh, the plumes of blood as he darted past—a thrill ran through him at his proximity to the enemy, the riskiness of the close quarters shooting tingles up dorsal spines. Sped by the target, a flick of his rudderlike tail spun Fahl around. Drifting backwards in the dark, acute pain spiked through subsiding adrenaline; though swift, he'd not escaped unscathed. There were bruises and new ones growing on top of those. Fahl is trying to cut and poison the Kraken a second time while also making his way to the cover of the ice spikes. RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Electrum - Jun 04 2021 The dragon's mind is white noise, now, his last thoughts having been ones of threats towards the hurtling, hulking beast that had struk out at the group - and had struck his daughter. One look to the side, to check on his mate, the majority of the group, a glance to the other to try and keep track of the other dragons in the group. He can see Deep Dark doing it's thing, and he takes note of their lightning with a small sliver of appreciation. Blight, with his proximity to the Kraken, is next on his note list, and so he now has to take into account that the green dragon had swam into his magic's strike zone... and do his best not to hit him if and when his lightning arcs back. Carja, the one with all the ice, seems to have freed herself from her armor, and seems okay with the small group in her area. He then takes a second to register any ideas being projected- advice for others, or himself even - and he has to look down to get a lock on Whale, who looks... rough. Hopefully they can finish this fight and he can try something he's never done before for the other. That one might not be his family, but someone with a sense of justice like that one deserves any help he can offer. Sores, then? I'll aim for one on the body of the beast- the limbs are moving too fast for me to reliably strike. With that, he rears back, and looses another type of electricity, with this kind crackling in a flung orb that seems to build between his horns before discharging. If the magic actually works... RE: [Quest] The Black City - Part III - Garnet-Epsilon - Jun 04 2021 strong language One word- Ow. Okay, uh no. Two. Fuck, ow. The last time they'd felt their insides turning like this, they'd seen something they are not quite willing to compare to what's going on right now. After all, this is a beast, and a willing battle- that was. Decidedly not. Everything hurts, from how they'd been struck, but they get right back at the lizard's idea and follows him as best they can, wincing with some movement but readying their claws none the less, with a toxic orb between their paws. A part of them wishes they could do something... more, for everyone else. But right now, it seems the best method for removing this threat is to completely destroy it. |
