RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Mau - Jun 02 2015 ooc: short post sorry x: just wanted to get this in. RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Fisher - Jun 02 2015
This was what Fisher got for rushing to the kitten's rescue! The long brown mammal hissed as the baby gembound's claws scrabbled around the gem that gave him life and yanked his scruff around. Those claws were pointy, y'know! She even had the nerve to yowl in his sensitive ears, and it was all he could do to keep his patience and not just dunk her in the freezing water.
The lynx told him to go, which he returned with a flat glare, but it also gave its name. Fallah. It seemed like the feline wanted to meet up after this mess. It was then that Fisher spotted the dog. A bark friend. Staring at him like a huge lost puppy, waiting for something. By now, Fallah had already vanished, leaving him with the big black bark and the small screechy shrimp. His brain swarmed with trying to solve this problem, the buzzing ringing in his ears. ... The dog didn't seem to understand him. Frustrated and actually in pain, Fisher's tail lashed as he reared up on two legs and waved frantically with his paws at the hole and at the small rocks and chips of ice at his paws. Fisher had to get the kitten out of here... But if the dog understood, was he sending another barkfriend to their death? The thought made his skin crawl, and unable to bare waiting to find out, Fisher ran off, away from the flooding to safety for the kitten. He could return once he got rid of her, right? He wasn't leaving the giant black woof to drown in his home's buzzing waters... Was he? RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Black - Jun 02 2015 ![]() ________________
A brown creature had appeared beside him, eyes blue as a sky he'd never seen and knew nothing of. It nodded. He stared, taken slightly aback--and then there were words, things he did not understand, and a yowling. A hideous yowling, from the tiny-white-thing which was now riding aboard the slender brown one. He flattened his ears back in shock. Who knew something so tiny could be so loud? The Dog stared, blinking, and then whipped his broad head to stare back at the place where water rushed down. There was rock below, and the water gushed over it and down, but could he stand below it and slightly uphill, to reach it? The water was the problem, he could see that, hear the buzzing noise. Something within resonated with it, spurring him to urgency. He was larger than the other Gembounds, that was for sure. Possibly they needed his strength? Or his height? He turned, galloping toward the tunnel wall, leaping over and splashing through icy water that puddled from the spray, making his way directly to the hole in the ceiling. The hole was about eight feet in the air, maybe slightly more, and the Dog was panting by the time he got beneath it. He looked around for the other Gembounds, and stood beside the leak, sometimes standing on his hind legs to try to get as high as he could. He looked a bit foolish, the ungainly puppy dancing around like that, particularly so close to the roaring water--but maybe if the other animals could climb him...? Alone, he could do nothing, but at least he might make a good stepladder. They would just need to bring something to block the hole, though the Dog did not think of this--he thought, instead, of magic. He turned back, still dancing on his hind legs, and let out a couple of bellowing barks. If he could make darkness, surely one of them could make some sort of block for the thing! He focused, going motionless on his hind legs, and thought of the void within. A shadowy cloak briefly shimmered around him--barely there, weak from his magical exertion from earlier--but he hoped that they would see it, and understand. If not, maybe he'd still make a good ladder... RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Game Master Madison - Jun 03 2015 Water continues to flood into the room; the status of the hole hasn't changed, however. The buzzing in the room is beginning to grow louder. Upon taking a closer look around, the Gembounds in the room could possibly notice the presence of some large rocks that fell near the ground below the opening - rocks that had once blocked the water passage. These rocks are large enough that, if shoved into the hole, could be used to block it - but they may need to use some magic to secure them there for good. Fire, Water, Earth, Energy or Arcane magic would work best for this task. RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Fallah - Jun 04 2015
RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Game Master Madison - Jun 07 2015 The feline's attempt to close the hole was successful. The rock was lodged into the hole and the water surrounding it froze, securing it in place. However, water was already beginning to dribble out from between cracks in the ice. While the water had stopped pouring out of the now blocked hole, they would have to move quickly to secure it for good. Black started and winced as the young lynx sprang onto his back, using its claws to climb him. But that was why he was here, and he endured it stoically, bracing himself with forepaws up against rock as the cat clambered up him. RE: Quest: The Strangeness of Cetus (P2) - Fallah - Jun 08 2015

It took him a while, but once his thick, snow-built paws got up the third hill, the kitten seemed willing to let go. Fisher sighed with relief as the claws came out of his fur and he set the kit down, giving her a stern look.
With that, he sprinted back to the others. The air was cold and damp, and his breath came out in stammered puffs. Copper eyes flashed in alarm as he saw that Fallah had returned and was already starting to block the hole, with the help of the Big Black Woof as a ladder. His head tilted and he grinned, picking his way along the water's edge. He nabbed a medium rock and crept forward, eyes alert. If another hole appeared, he could quickly go and block it up for her to freeze. Or, y'know, if a crack appeared in her ice. Black watched as the lynx bounded toward him again--and winced as, again, it scrambled up his back. This time it used fewer claws, though--or seemed to--and this, at least, was a bit of a relief. The surge of cracking cold came faster this time, like ice dropped snapping into water, and he looked up. And then he stared at Fisher, as if fully expecting him to understand. It didn't occur to him to worry about the hissing ice, now, or the strange buzzing or the flare of darkness above. On whether the lynx would be successful in its magic, or whether Fisher's rock would be required--or maybe whether the entire waterfall would break past and sweep them all away. His mind was on the tiny white cat, and whether the creature required his protection. |
