RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Ace - Mar 12 2023

This he much preferred to the close confines of Canis. A wide space to fly, a ceiling high enough that no stalactites could impede him as he swooped and cartwheeled his way through the air, Ace was hit anew by the dizzying exhilaration only battle could bring. Sure, the lack of those annoyances mentioned removed a convenient tool to use against landbound enemies, but such a loss mattered little when the draconic Drone delighted in the freedom brought by outstretched wings. A breeze slapped at his face, warmer than the chill ones of Ursa; he drank it in, eager to fill lungs so that a bellow might once more be loosed upon friends and scum alike.

Not yet though. Not when their opponents' ugly faces were absent from the scene. True to his role as air support, he circled about, perhaps with a bit more acrobatic flair than necessary. Eyes must be kept aware of all surroundings for when they did become present. Then he could inform the others of any potential attacks they might be unaware of before unleashing fury from above.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Orthus - Mar 12 2023

Though Orthus yearned to return to the rough grounds of Canis, Leo proved interesting. The sand would prove an interesting medium to chew through. Soft yet rough. An interesting texture to whet his appetite against. Orthus squinted up at the sky, watching foreign creatures approach Bone. Orthus sent a silent word of caution across the link, before dragging his claws across the sand. He'd make a pit for himself to hide in, hopefully. The sand proved a difficult medium to work in. Every scrape or bite was easily filled in with more sand. Pleasing to Order, but not pleasing towards his goals. Orthus growled, frustratedly continuing his fruitless efforts.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Glory - Mar 12 2023

Glory stepped out of the Workshop, donned in his near-full armor. The brilliant steel alloy gleamed in the lights, freshly polished for this special day. It was his first time wearing the newly enchanted pieces outside of his forge. There wasn’t exactly a reason, but he wanted to see Dread - he hadn’t had a chance to greet the dragon yet, not since he’d moved here, and he wanted to show off his masterpiece, as well as his recent body changes.

He opened his wings, basking in the warmth of the day. He casually flicked out a small thread of magician to pinpoint his friends in the resignation of the spell against obsidian, as well as another he didn’t recognize, although he could see from here that it was another dragon, fishing in the bay. Perhaps one of Dread’s friends.

He was quickly distracted, however, by other gemstones. Lots more. Arriving in the cave at that time. He squinted towards the entrance, but could t really see anything besides some vague white shapes. Hm, well, maybe some friends visiting? More dragons maybe? He didn’t really care. As long as they didn’t bother him.

He leaped off from the volcano and flared his wings, taking off over the bay and banking around to head towards where he had sensed Dread’s gemstone.

ORDER VS CHAOS
THE SIEGE

It was a bit of a shaky start--but it was a start. Encouragement, praise, ran along the link to each of them as they tried to prepare for combat. Through the eyes of her spies--and her Children--Mother could see the denizens of Leo awakening, as if stirred by the knowledge that something had arrived. They were, perhaps, unsettled... but they had no way of knowing, just yet, what was coming.

Ahh-... Oh. Alarm thrilled through the link, though she tried to suppress it. It became, instead, a warning, a klaxon bell hammering at the Hivemind.

Here they came, slick with Oil, jutting with spines, glowing with their unnatural Chaos: "Ready yourselves for battle, my Children. They are coming."

She flooded their minds with savage tenacity. With a lust for battle, and a ferocity, that would drown out any doubt. It was time to fight, and kill. It was time to take this pustulent nest.

Chaos characters may join the thread and attack both Order characters or Praetors this round, or take any other desired actions. Anyone may join this thread at any time, for any reason. (If you join to pick flowers on the side, note you may be injured in the crossfire.)

Chaos/Order successful rolls will be added to the overall Order vs Chaos event tally. Other characters of any alignment are welcome to try and stop them. THIS IS A FREE-FOR-ALL BATTLE THREAD: a character who is attacked may post additionally to roll for defense against each attack, as well as posting once for their own single action. See the Order vs Chaos Master Thread for scoring and more information!

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Vargas - Mar 12 2023

- THE LEVIATHAN -

The Leviathan had only briefly considered the optimal approach.

His orders, barked out just after leaving Draco, had been the following: "Those based in magic, stay in the middle. Scouts and assassins, stay out of the way and hit what you can."

He was expecting to lead them all the way to Canis, but the moment he entered Leo his step faltered, six eyes narrowing. No--he sensed them here. En masse. His eyes shot to the sky, and around him--and he strode forward again. "They are here! Prepare for battle. Those who fight well, will be rewarded!"

Vargas had to admit to himself: he was looking forward to this. It had been quite some time since last he'd truly fought--life on the line, throat in his teeth, blood on his tongue.

It was Alcina he saw first--a disgusting twist of bony, gleaming white flesh among the golden sands. Is it trying to hide? he thought, with grim amusement. He intended, however, to give none of these creatures the chance to react, or to escape--he broke straight into a charge, aiming a sweep of arm-blades for this one's face.

...Faces?

@Alcina

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - The Sentinel - Mar 12 2023

The Sentinel's entry was one of squinted eyes and irritation. He could barely see, out here. The shadows that swathed he and his halberd both helped just a little with his immediate vicinity, but past that-? He had to watch for movement, alerted only by Vargas's call.

It was the shape of... something white, almost white-on-white and blinding on its own, that alerted him. Something--digging, he thought? in the sands.

He made for it, eyes nearly closed against the light, halberd raising for a downswing, all his power shoved behind it. He could not even really see what he was attacking until he was nearly on it: a bulbous-headed thing far larger than he'd initially realized. This was a risk, a big one: he had not known that the Drones could be so immense. They rivalled Valkhounds in their forms.

If he missed this initial crushing axe-slash--perhaps even if he didn't--he was in great danger, here.

@Orthus

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Nidhogg - Mar 12 2023

Nidhogg bounded in, an excited hiss in his jaws. He heard Vargas say there was fighting, and he looked forward to it! To biting! To nipping and tearing and eating!

He spotted only one real target: a HUGE kind of circular white thing with a lot of points. He saw a huge red-and-white pig, too, but that thing had a tail that looked like it would hurt, and the big thing looked slower.

At least, he hoped it would be slower. He didn't intend to bite it just yet, anyway. Just-... annoy it.

If there was one thing Nidhogg was good at, it was annoying things.

He skittered across the sand in ferret-like bounds, arrowing for Juggernaut. "BITE!" he yelled, though who exactly he was addressing wasn't clear.

Nidhogg had nearly reached the gargantuan beast--intending to circle around it, nipping from just out of range as a distraction--when the sand abruptly gave way beneath him. He barely managed a "MMPH-" before simply... vanishing, falling down and in just at Juggernaut's feet (claws?), immediate victim to one of the Drone's sand-pits.

@Juggernaut

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Alcina - Mar 12 2023

Alcina's attempt to hide herself didn't really work, obviously. If her own displeasure with the sand beneath her claws didn't announce it, the massive valkhound charging towards her definitely did. She was thankful for the hive-link blaring warning, as she scrambled back to her feet, flailing in the sand to move.

The valkhound's blades nick her jaws, causing a small amount of clear sanguine fluid to splatter on the sand. Luckily the brunt of Vargas's charge didn't catch her, but the pain would flare in her brain and in the link.

Curses! They're on us!

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Alcina - Mar 12 2023

She has no idea the oil-beast on her is the enemy general, but even so it must be purged. She is disgusted with it daring to touch her, one of Mother's precious.

So she whips around, jaws yawning again in that horrifying flower, reaching for Vargas's back as he passes. Bone white teeth glitter in the light, for a precious moment, before they come down on his spines.

RE: [Order vs Chaos] THE SIEGE - Cain - Mar 12 2023

There was Master Vargas! The army of Chaos charged headlong into Order's trap, and with a hiss, the winged cat dived down to meet the battlefield. It was too late to stop them, and it worried about distracting it's Master, but it seemed urgent to provide Master Vargas with as much information as it could provide.

It was instantaneous, the magic flowing free from Cain to Master Vargas. It did not pry or push information into the Master-- who was thick in the throes of combat within moments.

But Master Vargas would be made aware of it shortly if he reached for the information: the state of Canis, covered in white Order. More presently, its attention focused on where its allies and foes were. If Master Vargas wanted it, Cain provided a bird's eye view of targets, the heartbeat of each flurry of movement. Numbers were easy to provide.

Cain might have worried about overwhelming its Master, if it did not have full belief that Master Vargas was of the same blood-- assassination, war, and perfect plans to seek and destroy. Every bit of information was valuable, and it was eager to provide. Should the members of Order try to gang up on the Master, or one try to ambush him, Cain would foil those plans.

As such, thus far the only information that came to Vargas was simple: Pitfalls, careful. Nidhogg fell into one. The white dragon has ice breath, may try to encircle or divide. But it was convinced: this would make the difference in the battle.

And when it was time for Cain to strike, it would be swift and final.
