Booker cringed at the mention of the trial, trying to play it off as sympathy by quickly adding in a soft, gentle smile. "Trial? Murder?" The numbat blinked, playing dumb - well, semi-dumb. He'd never honestly understood how any Gembound could harm another, especially not to the point of wanting to kill them. "Ah dunno how any-one could want ta hurt someone that much, but I'm glad Quix is alright," the scribe offered honestly, whiskers twitching. "Ooh, a choir? Like singin'?" Booker's eyes lit up, and he chattered in excitement, coat puffing up and sending a cloud of spores into the air. "I'd love ta sing! n' Bara can hum real good," he offered happily, thinking of the tune that had signaled their bonding. "We can come ta the meetin', sure! Who's your leader?" The tiny Gembound's head tilted to one side, brow furrowing. "I didn't know anyone had leaders. Well, the cats have the Monarch, but She's more than a leader," he reasoned, huffing. The numbat perked up once again at the thought of the Mother, clapping his hands together with a grin. "Ah! 'ave you heard their tales o' the All Mother? It's real speck-tack-you-lar. She can do great things, won-der-ous things! She even gave me back mosta my mem'ries, when I lost 'em," Booker added, ears flicking forward in exuberance at both the memory and the opportunity to teach. |

MAKYNA"let's sing a song for the heart"
Makyna shook her head, just as much at a loss as he was. "I don't know either... Only a monster could do it." A sigh. "But, Quix is a tough girl so she'll make it through just fine." That much she truly believed. That girl would make it through with flying colors and realize that her father was a killer.
"Exactly like that! And great! I'd love to have you both!" Yes! More gembounds for the choir! That would be perfect! More people to help sing! "Bevy is our leader now. She was elected not too long ago after Cancer was ousted." Justice. Even his name dictated that he should eventually be killed off or removed.
At the mention of a mushroom leader Makyna quirked a brow curiously, peering keenly at the numbat. She knew what the Monarch was but she thought it just a large mushroom, not anything special. "The All Mother? I can't say that I've heard about her... Who is she?" The Monarch? Surely not! It was just a mushroom, how could it be so special? But here the numbat had a testimony to give. "Can you tell me more about her? And... Can I meet her?" Surely if she was so special she could learn more.

Only a monster. Booker hid a flinch, only a faint tremble of his front paws giving him away. Only a monster. A soft intake of breath, another, before the numbat managed to smooth out his expression back into a soft, understanding smile, placid as the water of the Eyes. "Then we'll be there," he promised, huffing out a quiet laugh. "Though I 'aven't met a Bevy, ah don't think. Then again, I coulda! Memory's kinda shoddy these days," he added, grin tweaking his cheeks. At the mention of the Mother, he nodded, straightening up, only his perked forward ears telling of just how much he enjoyed talking about the gigantic mushroom. "Oh, but the Mother is grand, She is." The words held a contemplative awe, as if even mentioning the Monarch was hallowed. "I 'spect most folk still call Her the Monarch, if you've 'eard of it," Booker offered, chuckling. "But me n' my Sisters, we call Her the All Mother. Kinda like a true name, y'know? An' the Monarch's a nickname." A solemn nod, with complete and total confidence in his words, before the scribe continued. "Ah didn't believe m'self for a while, but I've got a con-nek-shun with mushrooms, with 'em all. And the Mother, well, She just about lights up the world. Everythin's connected to 'er. It's amazin' to see," he murmured, eye slipping shut at the memory of a tall pillar of light piercing the heavens, as if calling him to his destiny. "Took me a long time, still, to truly believe. First saw 'er when I was a lil' kid, but I didn't really see 'till I was a bit more grown, y'know? Met the Sisters, prayed to Her for the first time, and wouldn'tcha know it, some of my mem'ries came floodin' back, just like that." Booker snapped his fingers in example, opening his eye with a pleased-as-punch grin. "Nothin' shorta magic. Don't think I'da ever rem-em-bered, if she hadn'ta helped." The little moments might be gone, wiped away by snapping at the battleground, but the important things were there: Bara, Mags, Bones, Delphine, Diot... though it hurt to remember a good half of those, so the gift wasn't free. "She's sent signs n' visions, so far. That's my job, act-shew-lee! I'm her Scribe," he proclaimed, proud, whiskers twitching and wiry fur puffing up. "I'm gonna write down everythin' She says an' does, so when I'm gone, Her feats will live on, y'know?" Booker blinked, before grinning, sheepish, scuffing at the ground with his healthy leg. "Well, that'll be my job soon as ah learn ta write, o' course." At the lionesses' question, he nodded, peaceful smile back in place, clapping his hands once in excitement. "Oh, yes, you can meet 'er! We can 'ead over now, if ya like. I'd just need ta let my family know, 'case they need me while we're with the Sisters." |
