RE: Counting all the starfish - Thalassa - Aug 06 2025 There. Thalassa stiffened, lowering himself into a crouch as he caught another silhouette along Polaris' wall. Patience seemed to be the uniting theme of this hunt. If he rushed himself, he was more likely to miss. Step by step, he crept closer. He was a living shadow, the brights of his eyes kept hidden underneath a darker lense. The abyss between stars he'd yet to see. RE: Counting all the starfish - Thalassa - Aug 06 2025 Again, he waited for the opportune moment. He stalked the rodent, who was entirely unaware of Thalassa's approach, death encroaching. He pounced, his arc graceful, practiced- He skewered the small, pitiful animal with a single talon. But it had another surprise for him, a gift. A second mouse attempted an escape towards its den, and Thalassa caught it too, trapping it beneath a paw and finishing it off just as quick. Thalassa set both to the side and lowered his head to carry them back by their tails, but something caught his eye as he did. The hole the mice had attempted to escape to seemed to have something inside... Something shiny. (10/10 Luckbites) (1/1 fish (13 inch Whiteling)) (2/2 mice (Red Mice)) (GM tagged for Red Mouse Hole contents, if any!) RE: Counting all the starfish - Game Master Dark - Aug 18 2025 It wasn't clear how the hell the mouse had gotten this item into its crevice of a den. The tarnished, silvery medallion within was, in terms of diameter, larger than the mouse itself.
It had, in fact, dragged the medallion by a dark blue ribbon that had held it as a pendant. But the mouse had proceeded, over the space of a few days, to eat that ribbon. So all that was left was a disc, with a small hole at the top for a chain or a cord (or a ribbon) to be threaded through. The medallion itself depicted a strange creature, slender and humanoid, with a somewhat hammer-shaped head. It had a multitude of engraved eyes, and raised freakingly long fingers to press to its temples. The metal was enchanted with Mind Reader. Should Thalassa touch it while another did, too, he'd share their thoughts; it offered unspoken communication. For example, should the mouse touch it now, as Thalassa took it, there would be an uninterrupted stream of pure, garbled terror. @Thalassa RE: Counting all the starfish - Thalassa - Aug 20 2025 Thalassa crouched down low, its starry cheek scraping the rocky floor as it peered through the tiny crack in the wall. There was a medallion there, about the size of its palm, and a third mouse hidden further back. (It was luck the bounty was only for two mice.) It shifted, leaning to the side so it could thrust an paw inside to grab this piece of treasure. Thalassa's eyes squinted with focus, before it felt its claws wrap around the cool metal- and then it scrambled backward as it felt an alien sensation rocket through its body. The shot of fear faded as quick as it came, leaving Thalassa to try and puzzle what on (Let) it'd been. It examined the medallion now, and the image engraved on it. The medallion shined dully back, offering no immediate answers. RE: Counting all the starfish - Thalassa - Aug 20 2025 She returned with two dead mice and a strange medallion, no doubt enchanted (with what, exactly, was to be investigated later.) Thalassa took a moment to admire the haul in its totality. Content, she puzzled out the necessary steps to bring it all back in one piece, and began the walk back to Scorpio and the tavern within.
