RE: Solar Flares - Ghanyarah - Dec 27 2015 He watched the pooch expectantly, flicking just the tip of his tail as it hung lazily over the edge of the tree limb. If she could accomplish what he commanded of her, then his hopes would be assured. And she did. Before long, the air began to take on a deeper chill to it. It started to bite at his hide, the cold like flickers of an icy flame washing over his entire body. It made his muscles feel tight and sluggish, and he could even feel his heart begin to slow with the change in climate. Ghanyarah flicked his tongue, tasting the air, and it stung. Much like the ice he so adored, it felt comfortable, like home. He rumbled his pleasure. "How interesting." Ghanyarah mused out loud. She could lower the temperature of the air. Make it cold, make it icy. In turn, it made his ice magic easier to control. It made him more comfortable and he imagined it would have similar effects on anybody else around to experience the temperature shift. Make them cold, slow their muscles. Maybe it would even make them uncomfortable where Ghanyarah felt like he was truly at home. The komodo slowly began to raise himself from the tree limb, adjusting his body so that he faced outwards towards the ground. He positioned himself and lunged, leaping a good five feet from the limb onto the muddy, snowy ground. Ghanyarah had landed with a wet thump, sending gobs of half frozen mud. Once he landed, he took a few seconds to elevate from the ground, extending his limbs and stretching them. His head ever so slowly turned to her, curious and enlightened. "How do you do it? Whatever it is, it would be of great use to me. You see, I am of Ice." Ghanyarah explained, taking a step towards her. "Perhaps you are of Ice too? In some way?" He suggested thoughtfully. But no... she was capable of things he wasn't. "Show me how." He then added, though it was more of a command than anything. He would learn how to do this. @Nova RE: Solar Flares - Nova - Dec 27 2015
@Ghanyarah RE: Solar Flares - Ghanyarah - Dec 27 2015 She stepped back, and Ghanyarah had a feeling that she wasn't going to make this easy. From all the time spent walking through these caves, he knew body language as he saw it; placing distance between herself and the reptile meant, at the very least, that she was leery of him. Aleera had done the same. Ghanyarah liked to think that he would have won her over though, over time. Perhaps he should take a more direct approach to this then, lest he risk losing her and his chances of learning her magic. Her words had confirmed his suspicions, but Ghanyarah didn't waste any time proving the point he was about to make. He too stepped back and sent out tendrils of his cold magic into the mud below. Post-Roll Edit: A burst of frigid energy snapped out from the reptile's body, turning the atmosphere to ice - cold, colder than it had been before. Colder than he'd anticipated. Ghanyarah's eyes widened and he stifled a gasp of surprise, feeling crystals almost immediately synthesize on his hide. Before he could stop it, a thick layer of pointed frost manifested along his scales, turning the air around him to snow, and oh how it ached - the cold bit at him through his skin, freezing near everything in his body, lining his muscles and steeling his toes. To the mere observer, it may have looked like Ghanyarah did this on purpose. Covering himself in sharp ice, radically altering the atmosphere around him, but this was far from his intent. He was freezing. It took him a few more seconds to regain control of his magic, quelling it enough to allow warmth to return to his limbs. Then the reptile gave a great shake of his body, shattering the layer of frost that blanketed him with a rattling gasp. "See," His teeth chattered and his sunset eyes stared distantly beyond the dog. "See what I can do. I can train you. M-Make you strong." Ghanyarah wheezed as he continued to shake the ice from his hide. "Let me train you. In turn, I will learn from you." @Nova RE: Solar Flares - Nova - Dec 28 2015
@Ghanyarah RE: Solar Flares - Ghanyarah - Dec 29 2015 While the pain and the cold slowly began to ebb away and the chattering of Ghanyarah's teeth began to quiet, he watched the black dog come to entertain the thought of his offer. It would serve them both well in the end; if he could figure out how she had changed the temperature to make it colder, than he would have what he wanted. She would want to be strong, didn't she? She seemed like the type to pursue such magical prowess after having proudly blown up a tree stump, and maybe there was something deeper, something hidden inside that little canine head of hers that he could use to control her. The biting cold was replaced by no more than a tender chill and the snowflakes had stopped drifting down from above; Ghanyarah lifted his body from the mud, feeling his muscles stretch with life again. "Yes." He answered with a slow nod. "That simple." They would feed off of one another. And besides, Ghanyarah needed the training as well. After having his ass handed to him by that stupid white dog... The reptile closed his eyes for a moment, shoving the thought aside. His focus returned to her, pink eyes lightning up with amusement. "You will be my pupil. Come, I will take you to my domain." He raised his head, turning it in the direction he intended to move. Then his limbs sluggishly churned and his body adjusted itself, and that fat reptilian body started off towards the tree he called his home. "I will teach you to be strong. But this means you must spend considerable time here practicing. You must be ready to fight. Are you?" Ghanyarah asked over his shoulder as he walked. @Nova RE: Solar Flares - Nova - Dec 29 2015
@Ghanyarah [this is taking place after she visits Polaris in 'Leaving the Universe'] RE: Solar Flares - Ghanyarah - Dec 31 2015 Her answer prompted a confident, reptilian grin; if reptiles could grin, at least, that's what Ghanyarah would be doing. His long tail dragged through the mud as he went, and before long the pooch had quickened to keep up with him, joining him by his side as he led them back to his tree. He had never really had a pupil before so this would be interesting - he was sure to learn more from this encounter, and found himself rather enticed by the whole prospect. Surely this would be more rewarding than if he had eaten her. "Good. Hurry along. You have a lot to learn." Ghanyarah said idly, plunging into the heart of the swampy jungle. (Exit yara! Do you want me to make them a new thread?) @Nova RE: Solar Flares - Nova - Dec 31 2015
