NO.
BAD.
RE: Origin Speculation Thread! - Dragon - Jun 21 2015
Does anyone else think that the animal Gembound were never meant to exist? I feel like they're an accidental spontaneous generation of the magic crystals left about. Like the caves were meant for something else, and maybe animals were meant to be inside the cave--but that the crystals were perhaps meant to generate humans or do something else entirely, and have started utilizing what they can, instead, namely animals.
Like maybe the crystals aren't at all just simple gems, or the magic isn't--after all, what cave in existence has THIS many diverse and densely-packed gems & gem veins?
I feel that the story might go something like--humanity finds powerful source of mutation & health radiation in form of "magic," said "magic" seems to be easily stored by crystalline objects. There's a war of some kind, one of the self-sustaining "safehouse" places is a giant cave with a good magic source & crystal pathways inlaid to keep the magic flowing. One day the people all die off, and the crystals lie dormant for some time before beginning to infuse the animals of the cave, instead, with magic, whether from cave life or stored DNA or what have you.
Another option is that the humans set up the system because there is something specifically targetting humans for death--be it the gem magic itself or disease, war, or an enemy.
Maybe the crystals and magic are sentient, and humans' harnessing and abusing the power caused it to lash out, spawning an army to destroy humanity. Now it's "trying again," or even creating an army of its own to fight any more humans that may turn up.
(Idon'tknow but speculation is fun!)
RE: Origin Speculation Thread! - Usui - Jun 22 2015
My thoughts:
"Origin" can be called the beginning, or Genesis. Why do the first generation critters have to be of realistic species? That is because, like a fresh new world, mutations can only happen with time - more and more things stem out of the original "intention", similar to evolution. This is a new start from the last wars among the strange beasts carved in Tunnel J (the armour weren't stated to be human armour, I'd like to think they belonged to Aquarian and Nemean etc.) - connoting a fresh start bought over by the shedding of blood of the many smaller top hierarchy NPCs. I believe that these gembounds are being reared and granted magical powers for a greater mission. Perhaps, a dark-light plot, which they will be exposed to once they are ready/an NPC deems them ready. It's like gathering a little gembound army c:
I believe that the world outside of the cave is desolate - empty and unformed. But maybe a path will be unlocked to outside the cave where the gembounds will have to embark on the mission for real, once they are ready and will the path open using their magic and sincerity.
On another note, maybe there will come a time when there'll be factions - each gembound sorted out to their respective 'creators'/DNA computers according to gem and all hell will break loose :p
RE: Origin Speculation Thread! - Fisher - Jul 29 2015
@Dragon: In the recent Beast thread, Jupiter semi-confirms that the animal gembounds are an accident. Potentially a side effect of the war/fighting/golem creation...??

NEMEAN: NOW REVEALED! (WAIT WAIT WAIT, NEMEAN'S A GIRL? NO WORRIES, WIKIPEDIA STILL BACKIN UP MY THEORY:
According to one version of the myth, the Nemean lion took women as hostages to its lair in a cave near Nemea, luring warriors from nearby towns to save the damsel in distress. After entering the cave, the warrior would see the woman (usually feigning injury) and rush to her side. Once he was close, the woman would turn into a lion and kill the warrior, devouring his remains and giving the bones to Hades.
(THEATRICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEEMS LEGIT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(scary side facts)
The Nemean lion was a vicious monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea. It was eventually killed by Hercules. It could not be killed with mortals' weapons because its golden fur was impervious to attack. Its claws were sharper than mortals' swords and could cut through any armour. ... what a babe. still super dangerous, don't let her pretty looks fool you! she's full of illusions and super precious, goddamn
♍ Virgo Mercury Mercury
Astaea/Deer Dad ( Fleeing from the new wickedness of humanity, ascended to heaven to become the constellation Virgo. Deer Dad apparently is the virgin goddess of innocence and purity and is associated with the goddess of justice-- or at least that's where he gets his name. Deer Dad for lonely virgin confirm!)
♎ Libra Venus Venus
?????????
♏ Scorpio Mars Pluto
?????????
♐ Sagittarius Jupiter Jupiter
Jupiter/Centaur (Jupiter [...] rules both Sagittarius and Pisces. Sagittarius, half human and half-horse, is the centaur of mythology, the learned healer who forms a bridge between human beings and beasts. Also known as the Archer, Sagittarius is represented by the symbol of an arrow. Pretty obvious here. The name reveal only solidifies it.)
IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: JUPITER + BEAST AND MAYBE OTHERS MADE THE GOLEMS. THEY WERE PROBABLY USING THEM TO HARVEST GEMS FOR WEAPONS (SEE HER ARROWS??? WOW) FOR THAT CRAZY? WAR? WE THINK THEY HAD
part of me wants jupiter to be batcat's momma or something but it's more likely that they made the golems so yeah
♑ Capricorn Saturn Saturn
?????????
♒ Aquarius Saturn Uranus
Aquarian/Noodle Dad! (This one should be obvious. Come on. I'm not even going to link anything here.)
♓ Pisces Jupiter Neptune
TENZIN: NOW NAMED! (Raheerah literally called Tenzin "Your Pisces" before so this is a fairly solid bet. Interesting tidbit from wikipedia about Pisces in mythology:
According to one Greek myth, Pisces represents the fish into which Aphrodite (also considered Venus)[22] and her son Eros (also considered Cupid)[22] transformed in order to escape the monster Typhon.[2][23][20] Typhon, the "father of all monsters" had been sent by Gaia to attack the gods, which led Pan to warn the others before himself changing into a goat-fish and jumping into the Euphrates.[8] A similar myth, one which the fish "Pisces" carry Aphrodite and her son out of danger, is resounded in Manilius' five volume poetic work Astronomica: "Venus ow'd her safety to their Shape."[22] Another myth is that an egg fell into the Euphrates river.
side note: Typhon just reminds me a lot of Raheerah, but doesn't really fit in with the themeo, so I'm still stuck in this tbh. i mean Raheerah could just be Ares but that seems way too lazy)
WHERE DOES BEAST GO??? WE JUST DON'T KNOW. That being said, there's some pretty strong hints that he's Gemini, along with his "friend".
Raptor Mom was made by Banshee so I'm just going to assume Raptor mom isn't in the Zodiac. If she was, I'd be pretty impressed with how well put together Madi and crew are at BSing stuff. ;)
Svarog was named by MEMBERS and therefore probably is not involved in the zodiac stuff.
Raheerah and Dawa are still up in the air, though I'm considering some sort of gemini nonsense with them. Otherwise, Dawa could fall under Cancer (ironically) as her name relates to moon stuff, but I also see her falling under Libra or Aries-- hard to say where Raheerah falls if they aren't like, twin or whatever. Magical space twins. Would like some help digging into their stuff for more information.
As an aside: Might be important later. Unsure if it's just the 12 signs or if Ophy here will be included.
