A claw was placed over his throat, digging in, piercing his flesh. He felt the blood welling over the claw of the monster, bleeding him out. A swipe across his throat would have been better, faster, but he couldn't ask for any more now. He was finally granted death, finally given peace.

He began to sink into the water, but he was already fading out of consciousness. His vision blurring and darkening, his lips parting and breathing in the water despite the pain of drowning. He felt no pain now, there was no life left.
