RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Game Master CJ - Dec 31 2017 She had cleansed herself quickly afterward; there was no reason she needed to remain disgusting. As she was continuing with her arrow crafting, distracted now in her muddled thoughts, others had approached and had the nerve to ask her why the lights had gone out. Oh, but they weren't the least bit curious the first time? She batted her eyelashes and waved am empty hand toward the still generator wheel without turning to greet them.
"Something's up with this machine here," she said cutely, trying to recreate her desperate tone from the first time she gave this speech. "But don't worry your little hearts about it, I've sent someone out to gather some help in finding me something to fix it." She pointed a thumb down to Felina. "This cute little thing has just been keeping be company. Her name's Felina, ain't she a doll?" Nemean turned to view the new company who had come to see her, shuffling the arrow materials out of sight. "Oh?" Her eyes narrowed at the leopard. "You've been around a bit, haven't you? Have you ever dealt with this machine before? It ever act up in the past?" RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Black - Jan 04 2018 ![]() Black crept forward a bit, crouched like a cat, moving very slowly and cautiously. His big ears were pricked up, and his wrinkled face--had it been visible--had a deeply-furrowed look of focus. He was trying to hear what was being said. Carefully, he made his way up farther behind his boulder, peeking around so that he could barely see Nemean and the apparently-broken generator up in the distance. He remained quiet, again trying to gather the darkness around him like a cloak, to keep him hidden: so that he could see, but remain unseen in the shadows. This time, it worked, and he felt a deep blackness shroud his already-black form, even his pale blue eyes. He remained silent, slowly lowering himself onto his chest and belly, lying sphinx-like to listen to Nemean. @Fira @Cecei RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Fira - Jan 05 2018 Fira ignored Cecei for the time being, not because she was being mean, but because if there was anything dangerous around, she was sure she could handle herself. Yes, she could smell the viscera in the area, but there was no violence going on at this particular time, so she decided to just… stick with trying to figure out what was wrong with the Generator. She listened silently to the cat-fairy thing that was up near the machine, talking away, as she approached. She sat down, figuring she’d probably be here a while. She glanced at the much smaller cat near her for a moment, then Nemean seemed to notice her. ’Oh? You've been around a bit, haven't you? Have you ever dealt with this machine before? It ever act up in the past?’ “I wasn’t here, in Polaris, the other times that the Generator has gone out,” Fira replied. “I understand from rumor and talking to others that it wasn’t working when Gembounds first started appearing in the caves, but that was before my time. It’s gone out once or twice afterwards, but I…” Had a dead wife and missing kids to deal with. “I was too preoccupied to come and try to fix it, then.” Fira glanced around at the Generator, then, trying to see with only her eyes if there was anything wrong with it… Unfortunately, nothing really caught her eye, and she sighed, looking back up at Nemean. "Do you have a guess as to why it's not working?" she asked. "And who are you, anyways?" @Game Master CJ RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Game Master CJ - Jan 14 2018 Nemean shrugged when Fira mentioned the generator not working "when Gembounds first started appearing in the caves." She supposed the cat meant after the great awakening, when all these kids starting hatching and showing up, not actually ten thousand years ago when they had to build this stupid thing and hang all these stupid strings and actually be the first ones to do all the work to bring light into the caves. Queen Cat here had no idea how easy they had it. They literally had to do nothing but live. Or do nothing.
Her gaze turned sour as she thought about it, and what her job was; but the feline had asked her a question, and a good question—who was she! "Why—" she began, "I'M NEMEAN!" And as with her introduction to Felina—who now had to relive this again; and poor Black, who would have to witness this extravagant display from his secret place—a shower of confetti and fireworks exploded around them, lights dazzling and extreme, spotlights singling out Nemean as she twirled upward from her spot with her arms extended. An applause was echoing and loud, filling any empty space the other noise did not, and after it felt like it went on for an uncomfortable amount of time with Nemean bowing and saying her thanks, she flitted back down and bowed some more. Then, with a snap of her fingers, the entire thing was gone. "And I have some idea, but the person who can fix it is somewhere else. I've sent someone to go find them," she said, settling back down into her cozy position. "Now it's just a game of waiting." She yawned in a big fake fashion, then gestured for the pair to come join her and Felina in waiting. "We're having a blast, talking about magic. Felina here has Earth magic. She'll pelt you with pebbles if you cross her." Nemean was clearly bored and tired of waiting. Nemean was ready to pelt someone with pebbles. Large spikey pebbles. A whole stalactite or stalagmite. She vented this into her arrow making, picking up the supplies and working on making more of them. Nice, sharp, beautiful arrows. @Felina @Fira @Black @Cecei RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Black - Jan 14 2018 ![]() Black lay in his self-imposed darkness, watching and listening, brow furrowing more and more deeply. He did not hate this creature, Nemean--no, it was quite the opposite. This was merely his purpose--to follow Nemean, and to watch. He laid his head on his paws, a soft growl rumbling--very soft, near silent--through his chest, deeply. His magic came unbidden, and did something he had never had it do: his very thoughts twisted through the shadows, curling around the room, whispering--vague, brief and barely-heard, toward Nemean. Betrayer.... He had not meant to, but he did not regret it. Betrayer. He did nothing more; he merely waited, and watched, from his cloak of black behind his boulder. RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Xireidi - May 11 2018 Once more a long period of time passed. Hours? Days? It was hard to say in the the end. What was certain, however, was that eventually specs of light became visible in the distance as the search party returned, a strange figure trailing them in the shadows. Xireidi was the first to arrive back at Nimean's roost, trying his best to look neutral but unable to fully hide the suspicion in his eyes. He kept is body low and stepped forward, unconsciously glancing at the gem that had proven the fairy's intentions. Well, both those statements may have been a bit of a stretch. This batcat could speak but only just barely, and any control they appeared to have over the swarm was tenuous at best. Without doubt though this had to be the one she had been referring to.
RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Kin-Kin - May 11 2018 Kin-Kin followed closely at Xireidi’s shoulder, her head held high and cloak flowing at her back. She was glowing bright, matching Polaris in all of its bright lustre. She glanced around, gaze eventually settling on Xireidi, before drifting to the battered generator, and the topaz. She looked for the light sprite, not quite knowing what to expect. Finally, the wolf glanced behind them to seek out Batcat, making sure it was still following them. She glanced at Xireidi, then, following up his words with a slow nod. “That’s right,” she confirmed. Then she looked pointedly at Batcat, her next words directed more at the hybrid than anything else. RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Aries - May 11 2018 ![]() we burn the brightest
in the dark
Aries followed the party all the way back to Polaris. Their mission had been successful, Batcat had agreed to come along in exchange for safety. Aries wasn't sure what he expected. Batcat, a literal hybrid of a bat and a cat. It was very creative name, no one would have guessed. Thankfuly the swarm of fake "batcats" seemed to listen to the real one. Aries did not need to throw hooves. It could have gotten quite sticky back there if it wasn't for the real Batcat. Now, they were to confront Nemean. He had never heard of this "Nemean" and once again, he did not know what to expect. They traveled to a place that looked something like a roost, one that Aries assumed was Nemean's,. He snuck a peek at the battered generator. There was topaz stuck in it. Aries wondered what all this had to do with Batcat. While Xireidi and Kin-Kin announced themselves, Aries stood next to Batcat, puffing out his chest. He was going for a "proud protecter" stance. Batcat did save them from the other.. batcats, so they had his word. He would protect them. Thoughts... TAG: // OOC: in which aries stops being in the background (also barfs all over this post) RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Game Master CJ - May 25 2018 Nemean's small hands meant her crafting of arrows was slow, but that didn't mean she was below cheating. She was just starting to employ the use of magic into the task when the group returned, and her mood immediately elevated. She spun from her place near the arrows and clapped excitedly, showering their approach with confetti and hushed fanfare—because when they mentioned they had brought back the real Batcat, she didn't want to spook it. Disgusting creature and its big disgusting ears.
"Did you say.. s-swarm?" she echoed, fluttering downward to perch on a rock, tapping her chin lightly. She knew it could create copies but... did it have a whole.. swarm? Waving her hand to dismiss the (possibly large) issue, she waited to see if the Batcat they had brought for her was indeed the real deal. Nemean absolutely ignored the rest of what else they said. She did not intended for its safety at all. She just needed for it to help her find Jupiter, whatever way worked. Ransom, torture, politely asking... And from the way they came, its ugly bulky body swooped in, perching opposite of them near the river. Gleaming in its chest was the emerald she had been seeking in the last one. "Yes, yes that's it!" Nemean chimed, clapping her tiny hands and spinning upward into the air. "COME HERE, YOU FILTHY THING," she hollered, though it was warmly asked, not quite a demand; the way one might greet an old pal. Batcat remained where it was, chattering to see with its ears, unsure of the loud voice. Nemean twirled through the air and scooped up a bundle of the arrows she had created, zipping back around to display them to the creature. "See here! I've made a gift! I request to see Jupiter and I know you know where she is, you loyal mutt! Ask her to co—" but in an instant, Batcat registered Jupiter's name and picked up the shape of the arrows; his fur bristled sharply and a shrieking sound unlike any he had emitted before tore out of his mouth, many rows of teeth displayed in a fearful, aggressive way he did not know he could feel. He lunged for the sprite, who darted through the air with buzzing grace—but Batcat twisted and turned with its wings, pushing off of stalactites and tips of tall stalagmites in an attempt to catch her, and he did. With Nemean secure in his mouth, he dropped heavily to the ground, caught his breath, and took off again—toward Canis. Nemean, meanwhile, screaming shrilly and flopping helplessly while still clutching the arrows, her voice fading quickly: "HELP MEEE YOOouuu jeerkksss..." The last word inaudible, perhaps. This concludes [QUEST] To-Do List P3. To-Do List will be continued in: To-Do List P4.
Left behind is a mysterious purple orb, the prize Nemean has been flaunting. It is not a gem.
![]() If your Gembound takes possession of the orb, please include it in your posts. If they transfer it to another Gembound, please remind them to include it in their posts. The orb is 2-3 ft in circumference. Currently in the possession of: No one. Can be more than one. (Use code below to include this information at the bottom of your posts if your character(s) claim or acquire possession of the orb.) @Black @Kin-Kin @Xireidi @Aries @Felina
A surge of energy and pain pulsates from the orb, affecting all of your characters at once, as if the orb's energy is reaching out to them. A strange sensation, something like deja vu, ripples through their conscious; it is as if they are standing here together, but different events have transpired. They may each experience something unique, depending on their own personalities, ambitions, fears, or quests. ![]() Code: <div class="gmpost" id="orbp"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/CkZY9sq.png" /> <b>Strange Purple Orb</b> — This orb is a glowing purple in color and causes extreme pain to the Gembound, with an everlasting effect depending on how long the Gembound has contact with the orb. If the Gembound shares a sensorial link with another, <i>their partner will suffer the pain instead.</i> The pain is unlike any other the Gembound will have felt before, and the longer the Gembound suffers it, the worse it will get. They may even vomit or pass out. RE: [QUEST] To-Do List P3 - Black - May 26 2018 Black broke into quiet, grim laughter--a rare thing for him--as Batcat simply snatched Nemean and flew away with her. Perhaps, he thought, that will be her ignoble and fitting end. He began to push up, to step out to the others--but then the orb lashed out, its pulse of pain washing over him. The black dog staggered When he cleared his mind, he felt... disoriented. He recalled sending out his whisper of "Betrayer..." and recalled, he thought, Nemean turning around. Calling out, suspicious. Wary. He remembered the faint, dark amusement he'd felt, nestled securely in the shadows; remembered her scream of pain as Batcat had grabbed her. Yet-... It all felt surreal, somehow, and he was instantly suspicious. After a long moment he stepped out to the others, pacing toward them slowly, his brow furrowed in thought. "I have watched," he began, matter-of-factly. "Yet I believe that what we have seen was... a trick. A falsehood." He had no idea--no way of knowing--that they had not all seen what he had seen. He then shifted his wrinkled gaze down to the purple orb, eyeing it. "What is this?" |
