RE: Light hearts in a heavy, mad world. - Kielo - Jan 04 2018

Kielo blinked sightlessly, hearing a rustle of the stranger moving in the dark, but her blindness otherwise preventing her from doing much. The stranger’s voice was very close, she could almost feel their breath on her muzzle. Their wings fluttered nervously. The stranger didn’t seem to understand...

"I-it won’t work," she whispered, her voice betraying hints of shame and embarrassment. "It doesn’t matter where we go, I’ll never see..." She hung her head, soft glow fading away into the dark. "I’m blind..."

RE: Light hearts in a heavy, mad world. - Aeroth - Jan 04 2018

Aeroth blinked for a second in surprise. "O-oh, well, that's alright Kitlin, just stay still." Aeroth picked her up by the scruff of the neck gently, carrying her to the clearing around the spire. Loving the feeling of the magic crackling through the air. "We're next to the spire, it's a big rock filled with Magick, it's the safest place to be right now I think."

RE: Light hearts in a heavy, mad world. - Kielo - Jan 04 2018

Obediently, the little thing stayed still, stiffening only slightly as they felt the larger creature's teeth in their scruff. When they were lifted aloft, their small wings fluttered. They sighed softly. "I'm sooorry," they whined, legs kicking slightly in sadness. Everything seemed so sight-reliant in here. It wasn't the lack of sight that bothered Kielo, but the feeling that others relied on them seeing sometimes. But it wasn't something that they could help. They could hardly even imagine how seeing felt.

The little one sniffled. "O-oh! that sounds wonderful," the little one seemed slightly cheered up by thoughts of the spire. They'd never used magic themselves, didn't even know what it was that their magic did, but the thought of it thrilled them. Kielo opened their mouth to ask about the Spire, but stopped, remembering that they didn't even know the other's name.
Kielo quickly changed their tune. They liked this kind stranger, and they wanted to be friends. Their feathery ears twitched. "What's your name?"

"My name is Aeroth, what's yours kitlin'?" She smiled, looking up into the brewing storm up above.

The large creature's lips moved, their teeth driving a little deeper into Kielo's scruff as they spoke, until Kielo let out a small and puppyish yip. They squirmed, wanting to be put down, though their words did not go unheard. They kicked their little legs again, scaly appendages flailing. "I'm K-Kielo. N-nice to meet you, Aeroth," the little one said after a time, relaxing their body until it was limp as soon as the discomfort had passed.

"You must be very strong," the little hybrid complimented after a long silence, not knowing what else to say. Their tiny wings continued to flutter. Being so small and young, and being blind, the little hybrid simply couldn't fathom how big Aeroth must be to be able to lift them so easily.

notes: Yoooo, do you think you can try and make your posts a little longer? generally we're pretty lax, but the guidebook states at least a paragraph. Generally I look at subtle body language, expressions, teeny things like eye movements, and try to respond to everything the other character says. In this case, you could also make notes on Kielo's weight, whether she has any difficulty carrying them and the like, since she's currently carrying them. It'd also add extra continuity in that case, linking it back to the previous post. If you need any help I'd be happy to give it, and if you're low on muse don't feel like you need to post at all. ^^

RE: Light hearts in a heavy, mad world. - Aeroth - Jan 04 2018

Aeroth carried her over, a little ways from the base of the spire before setting her down, laying down next to the tiny creature. "Sorry hun, didn't mean to hurt you at all. Kielo.. that's a pretty name. I like it. Did you hatch recently?" She could see that the little creature was obviously very young, but she didn't know quite how young. She licked the young one, cleaning off the dust and dirt that had gathered on them and helping preen their feathers.

Kielo released a breath she didn't know she'd been holding as she finally felt firm, rocky ground beneath their paws. She swayed a little as though making sense of the ground's sudden return, and then allowed a small, pink tongue to pop out as she panted in relief. "O-oh! that's okay! It wasn't that bad! see?" She flared and fluttered her wings, even though that proved very little.

She then giggled as Aeroth commented on her name, bashfully lowering her chin to her chest. "Oh, you think so? Thank you!" She lifted an Avian paw from the ground, only to place it back a few moments later, re-opening her pointed muzzle again to speak. "Yes! I did! How did you know?"

notes: Don't worry! I have similar problems sometimes. Don't be afraid to mention small, seemingly irrelevant things like an ear twitch or tail flick (implies consideration, annoyance perhaps?) or the lifting of a lip. maybe the gleam of a fang. No matter how irrelevant things seem, huck em in there if your post seems too short. :P

RE: Light hearts in a heavy, mad world. - Aeroth - Jan 04 2018

Aeroth smiled a little in amusement, stretching with velveted claws as she got comfortable with the uneven ground. "Well for one, you're smaller than I even was when I hatched. Though I wasn't sure, I'm not entirely sure what you are even to know how big you'll get. DO you know at least?" She tilted her head slightly, she was very curious as to what this little gemling was. It looked almost like a wolf.. she had seen wolves before, but they had feathers. Maybe they were a hybrid like Carni? If so she should ask them if they wanted to meet the bone king. And Carni would like that too.

Kielo tilted their head to one side as she considered the answer to Aeroth's questions. "I am? That must be pretty small, then?" she tried to imagine, but was simply unable to. Instead, the little one shuffled closer and tried to cuddle into one of the feline's stocky forelegs, craving the contact both for the warmth, and so she didn't feel quite so isolated. She craved their rough but comforting tongue again, having never been groomed before. The dust clung thick and rough to their downy feathers.

As she tried again to think of a suitable answer to their questions, the tips of her wings trembled in concentration.

Finally she shook her head sadly. "Maybe I'd know if I could see, but I don't even know what you are, miss," the voice that spoke struggled desperately to be polite. "I don't know what anyone is until they tell me, and they're all hard to tell apart. But I know different people by their voice and smell and the feeling of their fur." She was silent for a time, wings fluttering nervously. "Maybe I'll learn, when I make lots and lots of friends."

Aeroth smiled as the little one drew closer, trying to cuddle with her, she put her foreleg out and scooped up the little creature, bringing her in under her neck so she was tucked into her fur. "I'm sure you will learn someday kitlin, just give it time for now though, I'm a jaguarundi, like a big cat. I think you might be a hybrid. I only know a few other hybrids, Carni and Eythan. Carni is a king, he lives in the cave Canis and protects all of us there. He could be out saving the caves right now for all we could know. He''s big and white and fluffy as anything. But he's also strong and powerful, the king of bones, protecting us all from the monstrosities of the caves. He saved my life once even, a big pile of bones had fallen on top of me and he pulled me out, he's the only reason I'm alive right now. He built a kingdom from Canis, we call ourselves the Marrowbound, we live under his protection, and we thrive together." Aeroth's eyes sparkled as she spoke of the Marrowbound and their king, a broad smile across her face as she thought of the others, and of Carni.
