RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Feb 17 2018

Winter stood back with surprise as the petals of the flower burst with light. She looked away, unable to stand the brightness that was suddenly overtaking her vision. When it was gone, she looked back, only to find something that looked like a small pearl. As she looked closer, all of a sudden her vision went black. Reeling with surprise, scents and sounds washed over her, so different then where she was. There was a deep yearning and tears collecting in her eyes. Were those tears? She didn't know, she could not cry. Then how was she crying? And she felt funny, as if she was bigger, heavier. She suddenly realized that she had legs and wings and ears and she was so warm. Surprised, she reveled in the warmth of this body and wept.

But then it was over and she could see again, back in the place where the pearl sat in front of her. She was cold and she shivered, remembering the warmth of having fur.

Wait a second...fur, legs, wings, and no sight. Was that...

Kielo?

When I speak.

When I think.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Feb 18 2018

After some time of letting their emotions even out, Kielo finally realized that they weren't alone anymore; they felt a presence somewhere close by; but it didn't occur to them immediately that it was coming from inside themselves. They slowly stood, shaking their head until their tears soaked into the fur around their eyes.

"H-hello?" they called out, ears perked and swiveling. Although there was no response, that feeling remained. Finally, Kielo realized that there was no scent, no sound; they were still alone. So why was it that they felt as though they were being watched? The hybrid sniffed again, thinking hard. And then, a thought, or a feeling... or... something... came over them. Either way, it wasn't something that originated in them.

"...Winter?" they murmured aloud, raising their head to sniff, but again, nothing. The voice of their friend hadn't come from somewhere out there, either. they were certain that the world had stayed silent. "I-is that you? What's going on?"

Suddenly, the flash of sight made sense. Kielo realized that they must have seen what Winter saw, in that moment. Another wave of emotion bubbled in their chest, and they gulped back tears, slowly settling back on their avian haunches. They closed their eyes. When they focused in on their emotions, it soon became apparent that theirs weren't the only ones that they were feeling- Kielo had just mistaken Winter's for their own. Wonder and confusion, both lingered. But the more they probed, the more they recognized her. But for now, the flash of vision eluded them, perhaps for the best.

Kielo pulled back from Winter's consciousness, fear suddenly constricting their chest. Had they pushed too deep? What if Winter didn't want them in her head? "I-I'm s-sorry! I didn't m-mean to..." they stammered nervously.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Feb 18 2018

Winter flinched when she heard Kielo's voice. She whipped around, expecting the hybrid to be standing close, but there was no one. She kept looking, but she was alone next to the Spire. For a moment, she just sat there, dumbfounded and trying to figure out what was going on, but then Kielo's voice came again, this time saying her name.

"Kielo?" she replied, hesitantly. "It's me. Where are you?" She whipped around ,trying to find the source of the voice. But when the voice came again, as if talking right next to her, she realized that it was coming from her head.

The blindness, was that he seeing through Kielo's eyes? Was the heightened senses and the sense of warmth her momentarily connected to her friend's body? Incredible. She shivered as she realized what that meant. They were connected somehow. Had the flowers done it? She leaned down to sniff the pearl that had been left behind. What was that thing?

She felt a soft probing at her mind and recoiled with surprise. Was that Kielo realizing the same thing? Curious, she probed back, exploring her friend's psyche. A sense of longing and sadness, but curiosity came over her. She longed to once again feel that warmth that heated the avian's body, the fur that rippled along their skin. She felt naked, exposed, and cold. But she could not reach it, she could not set herself back in the body of her friend.

But then there was a flash of fear and she retracted as Kielo retracted. "N-no, that's okay.
Sorry if I went too far, I just...
She took a deep breath to steady her words. "What's going on? How are we linked like this?"

When I speak.

When I think.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Septiezal - Feb 19 2018

As Septiezal waited anxiously for a response he rolled the pearl closer to him with his tail, tasting it with his flicking tongue.

"...Hi?" The voice said. Septiezal jerked his head back in surprise. He began to wonder if the pearl-thing was sentient.

"Are you--the flower? I'm sorry I hurt you but--you can talk? Can I help you somehow?"

Some else's concern began to prod at the back of his mind, like the voice in his head was fretting over his safety. Why was it worried?

No. Septiezal replied with his thoughts. He felt a little confused. I'm no flower, I'm a serpent! At that moment, Septiezal began to feel his lungs whine for air. Hold on, He told the voice. I'm going to shore. He grabbed the pearl in his mouth and swam for the surface.

He slid onto the Crystal River's shore and place the strange stone before him and coiled around it. "Arh," Septiezal breathed. "Much better." The foreign guilt was beginning to nag at his mind. "And stop fretting!" He snapped. "I'm not hurt!.. Well, you blinded me for a few seconds but I'll let that slide."

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Feb 27 2018

Kielo shook their head, utterly baffled. The feeling of yearning and sadness was waning as they adjusted to the strange newness of Winter's psyche being somehow joined to theirs. Her presence helped a lot, though; otherwise, they might still be crying. Either way, it was slightly bittersweet, but better than being alone.

"Wh-where am I? I don't know," they allowed themselves to admit, raising their head for a moment and sniffling. The scent of stone and calcium, and the lack of humming lights to one side of them caused them to wonder if they were close to the edge of the cave. Distantly, they could hear the crystal river rushing. "I'm some way from the crystal river, and by the cave wall," they finally said, unsure if that would mean anything to Winter.

They reached out to Winter mentally as they felt her flash of fear to match her own, wanting to comfort her, and ashamed that they had scared her. "I-It's okay. go as far as you like," Kielo heaved out a breath, unaware that they'd been holding it. "I trust you, even if this is a little weird." A soft chuckle escaped them. They thought back to what had gotten them into this situation. "W-well, I... I followed a really sweet scent, and I found a flower. I think? I tried to eat it, anyway, and then... But, I think that means this is my fault. I'm sorry!"

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Feb 28 2018

Winter tried to let her mind settle comfortably across Kielo, trying to find a good balance of open but not probing, but it was difficult. She had never tempered with her mind before and she had never experienced anything like this. So her mind was constantly tense, not wanting to stray too far into Kielo's mind but also not wanting to completely shut herself off.

"I'm by the Spire. I can come to you if you want, or we could meet in the middle?" She hesitated. The overwhelming urge to see Kielo again suddenly took over. They hadn't been separated for long, but that short amount of time had started an aching for her companionship. But she tried to stem the sudden flow of emotion, embarrassed as she remembered that Kielo would know what she was feeling.

"U-um,
no, it's okay. I touched the flower and it just disappeared so it could be both of us? I don't know, maybe the pearls are significant?"

She nosed hers curiously, wondering what this could all mean and why. But underneath it all, all she wanted was to see Kielo again.

When I speak.

When I think.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 03 2018

The ethereal feeling of winter's nervous tension leaking into their consciousness was almost too much for them to bear. "There's n-no need to be so afraid," they said aloud, to ease their own nerves as much as Winter's. "I don't mind."

Kielo's consciousness prickled with a thrill of hope as she responded that she was by the Spire. "O-oh, the Spire is easy to find!" Kielo said, seemingly slightly relieved. "I can just follow the magic flow. I can always feel where the Spire is, you know?" Kielo was suddenly buffeted by a wave of Winter's emotion, and it helped to awaken a similar feeling in Kielo; the young one, perhaps from their wolf heritage, found it difficult to thrive without companionship. But with Winter, the feeling amounted to something else entirely; an aching in their heart that was just barely suppressed, and one that filled their stomach with butterflies. The already-sensitive hybrid found brief thrills of happiness and excitement dwarfed by the magnitude of this emotion, which made them at times want to laugh out loud and dance and play, and at times squirm with discomfort and want to hide their face and be invisible.

Winter would feel all of this, and right now, the knowledge that Winter could, made their fur prickle and skin feel hot. Giddy bashfulness was what the feeling entailed right now, but excitement to see her again made their heart pound... and made them, in fact, a little nervous. where did that come from? They realized that they didn't really understand this feeling at all.

"O-oh! yes, I think this flower had one too! It was in my mouth when the flower crumbled." the hybrid fumbled and sniffed at the ground, using the last traces of sweet scent to find the small pearl where it had fallen. They relaxed slightly, and carefully took the object into their soft lips. "I'mma bing ich," they mumbled around the pearl.

The hybrid shook their head, and rose up onto their paws, tilting their head upwards to listen to the thrum of magic flowing through the cavern. They quickly found their footing, and, occasionally stumbling over rocks and unseen roots, padded towards the Spire.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Mar 04 2018

Winter felt the force of Kielo's emotions and found herself both overjoyed and terrified, as it pulled from her the same exact feeling. For a moment, the connection between the two brought them as one, just for a second, as their emotions awoke each other and swirled together, sending Winter into a daze of butterflies and a warming heart. She felt her body shiver and her tail twitched with anticipation, both terrified and excited for Kielo to come to her again.

She took a deep breath to try and calm her racing heartbeat as she curled up beside the Spire, holding her pearl close, thinking about her friend.

But was she truly a friend? After all that had happened? Or were they something more? Winter did not know, she did not understand. She barely knew what it meant to have a friend, as Kielo was truly the only one she had counted as a friend in her life. But now that they were leaving that reality, she was scared. She didn't want to lose what they had, but, at the same time, was ready for it to be something more. Confused, she did her best to shield this from Kielo, but it was very hard. Her presence brushing against her was intoxicating and all she wanted to do was lean into it and share with her, as she would have done curled up next to her.

But, instead, she simply coiled around the pearl and waited for the hybrid to arrive.

When I speak.

When I think.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 04 2018

It felt almost like being separated from themselves, like they were floating, as Kielo and winter's emotions came so close as to being indistinguishable, and it only made the craving for her company all the more difficult to bear, twisting like a knot in their gut. Joy and fear combined made them almost dizzy, and they'd never felt their heart beat so fast. They found themselves panting quietly, finding that they'd subconsciously picked up the pace. It was only when they tripped over a stray pebble that they reminded themselves to be careful, but even that wasn't enough to curb the rampant fluttering feeling in their stomach.

Winter's feelings reached them; confusion causing their skin to flush with heat, similar feelings welling up inside themselves. What does that make us? they thought, suddenly and painfully aware that winter could hear. The fur along their spine fluffed bashfully. Best friends, of course. You can love your best friend. You can love all your friends. and I do. Why then, did the thought bring about a fresh wave of craving, an ache that begged for more, a flutter in their stomach that happened around no-one else. Just what was it that they wanted that made them prickle all over and their stomach tight? But then... why don't I feel like this with them...?

When they finally began to climb the rise leading up to the spire, they found their chest aching in more ways than one, their paws trembling as they pushed themselves on. They raised their nose to sniffle at the air, combing desperately for a trace of the familiar, homely scent that belonged to Winter. As they caught it, their heart stopped and leaped at once. They took in a sharp breath before following the scent, the pearl still clutched in their soft lips. The scent grew stronger, the tether between them stronger still. Soon Kielo knew that they were padding towards her, their steps cautious but graceful all the same, their eyes closed, and their long peacock tail tracing the ground behind them like the train of a wedding dress.

RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Mar 04 2018

As Winter waited for Kielo to arrive, she became wrapped in confusion and emotion. It seemed as though the two had given up trying to hide the feelings from each other so Winter let go to embrace what was emanating from Kielo's consciousness. She sighed softly as warmth, more warmth then she had ever felt before, boiled up inside of her. She wanted Kielo. She needed Kielo.

She flicked out her tongue and picked up the scent of the avian and immediately uncurled herself. She softly picked the pearl up in her jaws and raced out of her place from the Spire. Following the direction that the scent had come from, she quickly found them, walking slowly with their eyes closed. She placed the pearl on the ground to free her mouth. "Hi, Kielo." Her voice was warm and relieved that she had finally found her friend.

She slid forward and curled herself around Kielo's front leg, comfort and happiness soothing the raging desire that flooded through her brain. For a moment, she just sat there, filled with joy that they had been reunited again.
