RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 05 2018 Kin-Kin watched the little bird with her head cocking slightly, a smile playing on her lips. although the failure never failed to be slightly humiliating especially when showing off, Kin-Kin knew that no matter who was casting the risk would always remain, and there was little one could do to negate it. Nontheless, she watched expectantly as the little bird focused, and opened her mouth to reassure the little one that failure was nothing to be ashamed of, and to try not to push themselves too hard... when the light from the glowing gem that Kin-Kin had produced condensed into a single beam, focused above them like some kind of a homing beacon. Kin-Kin followed the beam's path upwards with her gaze before looking back towards the little bird. Her jaws opened in a wolfish grin. "Not bad, kid!" she praised with a wink, leaning back to admire the little creature's handiwork. "Looks like you're of the light element, like yours truly. Pretty neat coincidence, huh?" Kin-Kin used a paw to preen the fabric around her neck into a more comfortable shape, her eyes sparkling. But she couldn't let the kids have all the glory around here, could she? Especially not after a failure on her own part. Raising her gaze up towards the heavens, she focused on the narrow beam of light, the golden glow hanging around her growing dim. Kin-Kin felt the power surging through her fur, and in the dark kin-Kin basked in the glory of her own power. Gypsy's beam split into a thousand colours, scattering rainbow flecks on the world around them both. When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Mar 05 2018
RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 06 2018 Kin-Kin chuckled at the little bird's enthusiasm. "Perhaps it is," she said, her chest swelling with pride at the praise. "Heh... it's good to see I ain't lost my touch." She watched as Gypsy chased around the flecks of rainbow that her magic cast on the world around, with all the energy and curiosity of youth, before pausing. Kin-Kin tilted her head as she wondered what the little one would try next. Kin-Kin grinned, glancing at the magic around her as the little bird managed to twist the light that she gave off into rainbows- a trick that Kin-Kin herself liked to use on occasion. it saved Kin-Kin the effort- but now she'd need to think of something else to show off. what a shame. Their words caused Kin-Kin to raise an eyebrow in amusement. "Woah, slow down, kiddo," she chuckled, and winked, a grin spreading over her face. "To do that, you'll need to beat me." Kin-Kin remembered a spell that she hadn't yet tried; an ancient magick that she'd worked to obtain. It wasn't something that she made herself, but... Gypsy didn't need to know that, right? Magic flowed through the wolf's gilded fur, her light reforming into the shape of golden wings, opening from her back. Kin-Kin glanced back, wings flexing as though they were a physical part of her, although they retained an ethereal transparency. Her gaze trailed back to the little bird, wondering how she'd respond. RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 06 2018 Kin-Kin laughed, a chiming sound, as though the little bird had told an especially funny joke. When the laughter died away, she turned her gaze towards the little one and spoke teasingly, unworried. "Keep dreamin', Kiddo! I ain't a demigod for nothin'!" Although the words might have been crushing to some, Kin-Kin's tone was carefree. "Why don't ya start with challenging some kids your own age?" As Gypsy hopped closer to inspect the wings she'd summoned, Kin-Kin raised her chin high with pride and offered the little one the feathered tips to inspect. although the wings were ethereal, Kin-Kin was awfully proud of them- for a first attempt at such a spell, she'd certainly delivered. Kin-Kin caught a glimmer of colour out of the corner of her eye, and tilted her head as the young one's next spell efforts manifested in a small, largely unimpressive rainbow formed of her own light. The question presented took Kin-Kin by surprise, although perhaps it shouldn't have. after a moment's consideration, she shook her head. "Nah. I'm not quite there, yet. Air ain't somethin' I've practiced. Yet." The wings gradually began to fade, dissipating into tendrils of golden mist and into nothingness. When I speak. RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 07 2018 Kin-Kin laughed, Gypsy's spirited determination nothing if not charming. "Hah! well, then, go for it, kid! I ain't gonna stop ya," she chuckled, grinning. Then there was a short silence between them, as Kin-Kin's magick dissipated into nothingness, and the little bird appeared to be lost in thought. Kin-Kin continued to grin, her tail swishing back and forth. The sudden question, again, took her by surprise, though perhaps it shouldn't have. It had just been quite a while since she'd dealt with newborns. But the question got her thinking. She paused, tilting her head slowly as her ears twitched in thought. She'd never really considered it before, but she supposed that yes- she could be considered old. She'd been alive for many, many cycles. She'd lived through cycles whent he caves were dark and devoid of life. It had taken her so many cycles to get to the point she was at now- old, she supposed, and wise. She'd seen the births of so many Gembounds, many of whom had disappeared into the dark- and others who she'd later seen, older and changed. Like herself, in a way. Kin-Kin blinked. "24 cycles," she said slowly. "I was 4 when I earned my title. I've come further than I ever could have dreamt since then... done more than most could ever say. So I suppose you could say that makes me old." She looked up, not realizing that her gaze had drifted to the earth at her paws, and returned to a playful grin. "But I personally, say that I'm as young as I want to be." When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Mar 07 2018
RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 07 2018 Kin-Kin laughed. "Believe me, kiddo- it'll get to a point where the cycles will fly by, and you'll wonder where the time went." she reassured, although felt herself cringe slightly on the inside. Gee. Have I always sounded this... old? she tilted her ears back, and gave a wolfish grin. "Don't worry, kiddo. I, uh... can't promise you'll ever be big, but ah... greatness? That can be yours, if ya just put enough heart into it." A proud smile. "And I'd know." She tilted her head at the bird's next question, although the smile never left her face. "This is the second," she said thoughtfully. "As far as I know, there weren't any others before I was born. I won the only other, and this time I intend to keep my title." When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Mar 07 2018
