Reseda stopped moving. She couldn't perform magic while she was running like this. It just wasn't working for her. So she steadied herself and focused on the deer that was getting farther away and pushed her energy forward. This time, it had a significant impact. The rocks and stones around her cracked and shattered and flew against the wall while the deer, who had slowed to go around the corner, was swept off its feet. It gave a loud cry before it was smashed into the wall, its neck breaking instantly, and it crumpled to the ground.

Satisfied, she moved towards her kill, slower then before, as she had no reason to run now that it was dead. When she reached the side she flicked her tongue, tasting the still-warm body of the deer before she lunged forward and tore off a chunk of meat.

She settled down and dug into her meal for a little while, savoring the taste of the fresh-kill, quite enjoying it over the dusty, rotten taste of carrion she had become accustomed to. She was the closest she could come to happy that she had left Canis. The rest of the caves was so much more interesting.

Reseda stood from her meal, her belly full and the deer no more then a bloody carcass. She felt herself growing tired and decided that she better find a place to rest before moving on. She had spent enough time in this tunnel and it was about time to move on to another large cave. She stood from her resting place and began to look for a place to sit down and rest. However, the walls of the room were bare and there were few overhangs to rest underneath. Nor were there any bushes to hide under or dirt to dig into. Strange. This was a very boring cave.

She decided that she didn't really want to search for a place anymore. If she couldn't find an already suitable place for her to rest, then she would just make her own. She stepped up next to a rock and focused on the point where it met the wall. She tried to force energy straight at it to make an indent enough that she would fit, but her magic was beginning to run out. She let go of the effort, panting as she was getting tired.

But she was Reseda. The dragon of the bones, who would one day be the most feared and respected creature in the caves, who would stand above all others as their lord and master. She could not be defeated by a rock.

Reseda took a deep breath and tried again. Finally, she managed to push enough energy forward to make an indent in the rock. She slunk into the little hollow and curled up, staring off into the cave, thoughtful.

Now that she had learned the spell the deep one had shown her, what did she have to do next? She had finally done what she had achieved. Sure, she could make it stronger, but that was all her mind was thinking right now. She wasn't creative and didn't really think about the fact that she could possibly learn even more until she thought of the Spire.

It had inspired her. When she had looked into the crystal, she had seen things, things she couldn't describe nor quite remember. There was a lot more to learn out there. So much more to achieve. She just had to continue forwards. Keep learning. Keep using magic.

Reseda raised her head. Well, if she was to practice magic, then what was she doing just sitting here? But she was tired. Maybe she could practice magic while still resting her body. She had a few spells that weren't too taxing. She let one flow from her skin, sending a small chill into the air. It reminded her of her home in the room of bones, but it wasn't as cold as she would have wanted it to be.

She enjoyed the cold. She reveled in it. She sometimes felt heat from other caves and she tried her best to avoid those areas. It felt more natural to her to be cold. So she would try again. She wanted it to be freezing in here. Just how she liked it.

Reseda forced more of her energy into the air, eager for the temperature to drop but, all of a sudden, there was a spike and it got super hot. Confused, she jumped to her feet, trying to found the source of the heat. But then it jumped back to cold. Then to hot and cold and all over the place. She looked around. Was she causing this? How strange. It seemed that he spell had gone wrong somehow. But that was interesting. Apparently her little spell could do that. So much for not taking too much energy.

Growing weary of the continuously fluctuating temperatures, Reseda began to move back to the part of the tunnel that she had originally stopped in, where there were many broken rocks and an area of nothing. It was a much more even temperature. Maybe another try was in order.

Reseda tried again, but it seemed her body did not want to try manipulating the air again after the disastrous last attempt. She didn't really care. It wasn't exactly super hot in here. She could deal with not having it be very cold. But then what would she practice now? She didn't really feel like she was strong enough for another black hole and she was growing tired of blasting rocks around. She could try making copies or whispering, but she had learned that she was pretty good at those. There felt like there was some other spell underneath it all, something she hadn't tried. She had felt the spell within her when she had walked past the strange egg pile the other day. She had taken an egg, but left it somewhere.

Perhaps she should try that.

She reached for the spell, but there was something in the way. She frowned. What was that? She pushed against the invisible wall, but it only sent a jolt of energy through her body in protest. She sighed. She had no idea what this magic was, but there was something in her gut that was now telling her this was some amazing, awesome spell if it was this hard to cast.

Reseda smashed her way past the energy wall and grasped at the spell that was so desperate to avoid casting. There was an extremely peculiar feeling in her belly as she began to release the spell and anticipation rose in her chest. What was so powerful that she was getting this kind of physical reaction?

And then, in front of her, appeared....something.

She leaned down, her tongue flicking, inspecting this strange yellow object. She had never seen anything like it before. It smelled a bit like food, but a lot more sweet and not really food. It was small and sparkling and not at all what she was expecting. Deciding to taste it, she opened her mouth and gulped it whole. She smashed down on it with her teeth once before swallowing it. However, a moment later, she regurgitated it, the incredibly horrible taste stabbing at the back of her tongue. She spat the yellow thing on the ground, sparkles and all.

Reseda tossed away the wet remains of the thing she had summoned. It had tasted vile on her tongue, sickly sweet and creamy, unlike the tough, savory meat she had grown accustomed to. She would not be using that spell anymore. Why she had learned it in the first place was beyond her. It was useless and arbitrary and a waste of time and energy. There were other things she could be doing.

She decided that, since there really wasn't much else to do, she would keep practicing. The deep one had told her that the more she practiced, the more potent her magic would become. So she focused on her gem and willed it to create a copy of herself. In front of her, a perfectly detailed copy blinked into existence in front of her. But was it perfect?

She had the copy stand tall and stay still while she began to walk around it, inspecting and examining the skin and scales closely. Where there were faults in the magic, she would add a quick fix or release a part of the spell that held the mistake in place. Eventually, she thought that she had done it perfectly and stepped in front of the copy. For a moment, she simply stood there and stared at it, imprinting the memory of how it felt to cast this spell in her head so that she would be able to do it in the future. Once she was sure it was good, she released the spell and the copy disappeared.
