Bevy doubted she would get any sleep either, but somehow leaving the travel for later, for the morning-- if one could call it that-- seemed like the most reasonable thing to do. "Of course," she peeped, spreading her wings and taking off from the wide yawning entrance to the bear's den. Her eyes hunted the mossy land as she swept through the cave of Pieces to her home in the southern wall. It was so quiet during the unmarked time of night, a silence that felt uncanny, like something was missing. The soothing touch of black darkness-- she never thought she would miss the bleary, bleak blackness that came before the lights came on.
It wasn't worth fretting about for now, as she landed before her cubby and crept into the nest, her eyes flashing over a beautiful shard of sky blue. She took the gem in her wing, settling down into a mossy bed she had made for herself and ran her cool stone over the small, black feathers of her face. Slowly, sleepiness tugged on her, too exhausted to keep worrying about the life and future of Maji Walezi. It took a while, but eventually the pitohui bird's eyes closed and she fell asleep.
