RE: Striking out... kind of - Game Master Dark - Oct 05 2018 The stone held no gem--but it held a surge of memories nonetheless.
Something stumbled in the darkness--something with short, coarse brown fur. Hooves clicked as it scrambled to move. Breath came quick and heavy. Fear. Urgency. Others moved with it, in the darkness, quiet, panting. There was suddenly light--brilliant, blinding--and agony. A sharp heat that tore through the body, head to toe, and then nothing. It ended, like falling, like a pebble plummeting into dark water. The image was brief, but clear--and intense; it might be near-overwhelming to the mind. @Skeena RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 05 2018
Skeena went still as she began to See. RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 05 2018
She shivered, taking a few deep breaths as she waited for her heart-beat to slow. Oh, she hadn't been expecting that. When one used Hindsight on a bone, they expected some tragedy, some pain. But that had been incredibly overwhelming. RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 05 2018
Her head was still buzzing, but she wanted to get this done. It wouldn't make sense to bring all of the bones back to her home if some of them couldn't be Sighted. RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 05 2018
A deep breath, and Skeena waited for her heart beat to slow. She stepped towards the skull, and carefully placed her forepaw on its nose again, pushing for her Magic and beginning to See. RE: Striking out... kind of - Game Master Dark - Oct 06 2018 The skull again held no gem--but powerful enough memories. As Skeena tapped into this one, it was almost as intense as the last. It began clear and bright, and as it continued, quickly grew blurred and indistinct.
A creature, somewhere between a rabbit and a cat and a deer: long slender legs, large hindquarters, whiskers; a tan, thick fur spotted white. Long, swivelling but pointed ears, and big, yellow eyes wide with fear. Voices in the distance, and it fled--there was no hiding. Fear behind, fear in front. Thick mist over dark water. A mind-numbing, terrifying buzzing in the distance. A blur of a monster rising, lunging. Panic as the world filled with fangs and rushing water. This memory, again, might be overwhelming to experience. @Skeena RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 06 2018
Skeena began to See. RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 06 2018
Skeena jolted out of the memory as if from a nightmare. She trembled, curling in on herself, rocking back on her haunches and reaching up to groom her muzzle in a nervous tick. Her muzzle was covered in bone dust, from carving the bones, so she worked to clean it off while waiting for adrenaline to stop rushing through her veins, her heart to slow to its normal rapid beat. Skeena looked over her etchings, before deciding that they were good enough. She hoped that, in the future, she would be capable of better, more detailed, etchings, but for now this would work. It would help to jot her memory. RE: Striking out... kind of - Skeena - Oct 06 2018
Skeena frowned, before looking at her paw. She hadn't noticed, but there was fungus separating her own flesh from the bone. |
