A false sense of hope rang through her chest as the Collector began to speak, calm and smooth-talking as ever. Elyon inwardly praised a lack of having to turn this weapon against the living — needlessly, at the very least. That lack was dashed across the rocks, as one's skull could be. Her stomach sank, nausea rising. At least she could target prey, exclusively. Right? Bright red eyes met equally bright lights on the wall, and she was momentarily distracted. There was a sea of figures, and at their rear was an enormous creature of some sorts. The flail was clutched in its hand, the end enormous and swarmed with spikes. "Wait, what war?"

Just as quickly as the mural vanished, the Collector withdrew a paper and offered it to her. Elyon glanced down at it, then lifted a hand off of the handle. She hesitated for a moment. Taking this seemingly bloodthirsty weapon could only be justified by that it could simply be turned against prey, and only prey. "Okay," the centaur murmured, placing a chitinous hand on the paper.

The Collector gave a little shrug, waiting as Elyon's hand seemed to burn a searing print into the bottom of the page, below lines of strange text.

"Oh, that I don't know. These are tales, passed down through the ages, though I believe that this one's true enough." He turned the paper toward him, glancing at the print, and then tucked it into his cloak.

He hid his fierce anticipation well. Oh, this would be fun.

"May it serve you well. Remember to feed it, repair it, or your side of the contract shall be null and void and your reward repossessed. Ta," he added--and in a flash of smoke, he vanished.

Elyon flinched at the light, withdrawing her palm and stumbling backwards. She heard the Collector's voice, and then he was gone in a single 'ta.' Blinking, the centaur swiveled about, wondering where the creature had vanished to. Just in case, she kicked at the pit of bones and still found no secret cellar. Bright eyes fell back to the enormous club-flail clutched between her hands.

As long as she could use it only on rats, right?
