RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - mayfal - Aug 20 2020 The journey to...wherever was long enough for Mayfal to plan. If these promises meant nothing, they had sharp teeth. They were also a small creature which meant they could run fast and squeeze out of a tight space. In the middle of their planning, the voice heralded their arrival. "Isn't it pretty?" Mayfal moved their head from left to right, scanning for the supposed prettiness that should be all around them. There was nothing but pitch black darkness. "What's pretty?" they replied. @Comet RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - Comet - Aug 20 2020 Comet
Comet expected anything, anything other than what came out of the fox's mouth. @Mayfal RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - mayfal - Aug 20 2020 This creature, with intentions that could be any range of good or bad intent as far as Mayfal was concerned, seemed disappointed. Confused. Mayfal felt flush with embarrassment. They had done nothing wrong, so why were they being treated like something was wrong with them? The rage was uncontainable. "I'M LOOKING! I'M LOOKING EVERYWHERE! Where are these trees you speak of? There aren't any flowers either! THERE IS NOTHING! I'm looking everywhere and there is NOTHING! You're LYING to me, AREN'T YOU!" It seemed to Mayfal that their life was in need of protection. @Comet RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - Comet - Aug 20 2020 Comet
@Mayfal RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - mayfal - Aug 20 2020 Blind. Their fear had been correct. They were, in fact, blind. Who knew blindness felt so heavy. They put their head on the ground again. Their paws remained hot due to the frustration and unease that Mayfal still felt. Hunting. That's right. How would this effect everything else? How would they live? Even finding plants to eat is hard when you can't see any. "Home?" Mayfal asked. That hadn't even occurred to them, but the idea made some sense. Mayfal weighed their options. They were just offered a home. But they were blind, vulnerable, easy prey. But nothing bad had really happened yet. Mayfal repeated the question, "Home?" @Comet RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - Comet - Aug 20 2020 Comet
@Mayfal RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - mayfal - Aug 20 2020 Mayfal picked up their head again. They supposed a conversation wouldn't be too dangerous. And the idea of staying with someone seemed strangely comforting. "What is it like in Eridanus? Describe it to me." Mayfal requested. Eridanus was probably fine, but they were more interested in where this creature's home might be. "Is it safe? Would it be nice to live here?" The more questions Mayfal asked, the calmer they became. Their paws slowly returned to a reasonable temperature. "How does one even build a home?" Mayfal tried to look toward the direction of the voice, their skin and fur above their eyes knit together. They looked so pathetic, so docile. But their tail was raised and moving gently from side to side. @Comet RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - Comet - Aug 20 2020 Comet
Comet smiled when she saw that the fox was interested in what she had said. That was an improvement. @Mayfal RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - mayfal - Aug 20 2020 Now that this creature had mentioned it, there was the rushing of water and skittering of small feet. Mayfal’s eats whipped around, taking in all the sounds that this creature was describing visually. They thought that, maybe, they even heard the water rushing up and down the roots? A whole picture appeared in Mayfal’s mind in the form of a symphony. There was a home in this symphony. Just for Mayfal. They wouldn’t have to worry about too much danger, but they wouldn’t be alone either. It was an ideal compromise. But...who was ‘we’? Mayfal decided not to ask that just yet. Instead, they would accept the offer. “I’d like that very much. Also, I didn’t answer your question from before. I am Mayfal.” They said their name slowly, still a little unsure. Hopefully it was clear enough for this creature to hear. Then, they waited for the creature to introduce themself in reciprocation. RE: Darkness to Darkness [Hatching] - Comet - Aug 20 2020 Comet
Comet was glad that the fox accepted her offer, she would never have forgiven herself if the fox had died. Because of her. @Mayfal |
