RE: I Want to See the World! - Amaryllis - Nov 15 2020

May looked over her shoulder as her companion seemed to pause before answering with their name. It was a simple one but rather cute in and of itself. ”You have a really cute name!” Amaryllis gushed excitedly over her companion’s name. They were just as cute as their name. But then Comet was their friend and she was very pretty, so of course her friends would be adorable.

Amaryllis stopped for a moment as it seemed that simply their name was all they were going to get. But nonetheless she still offered a warm smile. She wondered where they were born, how they had met Comet. ”So, how did you meet my big sister?” It seemed that there was something on her companion’s mind and they weren’t wanting to talk about it. However that didn’t mean she couldn’t try and make a bit of conversation. Amaryllis seemed more than willing to try and get Mayfal’s mind off of whatever was bothering them. But not picking up on the queues that Mayfal didn’t exactly want to talk. After all Mary was just a child.

C...cute? What is...?

Mayfal had never been called cute in any respects. They had never even heard the word. They were so baffled, they paused in their steps for a moment.

Amaryllis was still moving, so Mayfal quickly began their pace again.

Then the child asked about Comet. The day the two had meet. They could do that without breaking down, right?

"She found me right after I had hatched. She's not quite a full cycle older than me, so we got along pretty well. She led me to Eridanus and gave me a place to stay. I don't know what would have become of me if someone else had found me."

What was this? Why were there more tears again? They weren't supposed to break down again! Not in front of a child! Comet made Mayfal happy, why were they crying?

From what Mayfal could sense, they still weren't very close to Eridanus either. This was a mess.

As Amaryllis passed her compliment on it seemed to sun Mayfal a bit as she paused in her step. For a moment Mary tilted her head to one side as she cast her sixed eyed gaze over her shoulder at Mayfal as she heard them pause in their step. Not wanting to get to far ahead MAry as well paused if only for a heartbeat.

A light smile began to spread over the young cub’s muzzle as Mayfal began her story. She couldn’t wait to hear this, it had to be good. But then, she just liked hearing stories from anyone that would tell her of their adventures. It was currently how she got her excitement, especially since big brother Sun was away and said he would be for a while. She couldn’t but wonder if Sun had made it home in her absence. But all the while she kept listening even with her own one little thought.

”My sister is really nice, it’s part of why I love her so much.” Mary seemed to gush about her older sister instantly as the story had finished. She really did love her sister she was amazing and she looked up to, but Renny was even more interesting even though she hadn’t seen him since a few days after she had hatched.

Mary lifted her front most legs off the ground and half turned as she walked to look at Mayfal. ”I really like…” The young girl cut herself off finding Mayfal crying behind her. The little girl turned completely around and let all of her limbs fall back to the ground. She approached Mayfal gently. ”Are you sure you’re okay? I may not be Comet but I am good at listening.” At least she thought she was, but she was a child what did she know.

Well, they had to tell the child something. Give some explanation that would satisfy Amaryllis but not scare her. No choice now. In fact, she was handling the crying rather well. That, at least, comforted Mayfal a little.

"I'm alright. I just have to make a really tough decision. That's why I want to talk to Comet. She knows me and she always helps me when I need her." Hopefully that would be enough. The coughing and wailing would be saved for Comet's presence. For now, just a summary was what came from Mayfal's sore throat.

"Let's keep moving." They didn't want to be here like this, not any longer. Besides, Comet was probably growing more worried each second Amaryllis was nowhere in sight.

Mayfal slowly started walking forward.

Mary gazed gently at her companion with a warm stare. She wasn’t aware that Mayfal couldn’t see as she had never heard of anyone being blind before. But she approached with a gentle demeanor and soft smile stopping a short distance away so as not to invade Mayfal’s space. She stood waiting for Mayfal to answer her.

As Mayfal finally began explaining what was wrong, Mary nodded gently and lifted a forehand and gently placing it on Mayfal’s shoulder as Sun often did her to comfort her, though she was a bit shorter than Mayfal. ”I’m not sure what the decision is that you have to make as I’m just a kid, but I’m sure everything will turn out alright. You seem like a good person so I’m sure you’ll do the right thing.” The young girl gently petted Mayfal’s shoulder.

Mayfal urged them to keep going and she nodded. ”Alright. Yeah we should probably hurry, I’m sure Comet is worried.” She muttered the last bit to herself but resumed her trek forward and soon they found themselves at the tunnel. Amaryllis smiled. ”won’t be more than a few days with rest stops so stick close!” Amaryllis cheered slightly as she made her way into the tunnel ahead of Mayfal.

RE: I Want to See the World! - mayfal - Nov 17 2020

Amaryllis' sweet words stung Mayfal's very being. Her tiny paw on Mayfal's shoulder somehow felt like a boulder, weighing the fox down.

A few days. A few days before Mayfal would be able to cry without hesitation and be understood.

"I'm right behind you" They whispered after the child. And they were, the whole way to Eridanus.
