RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Magnus - Jun 27 2019

Quartz Eight-Six-Zero limped toward the end, toward the Merchant. He took the feather from his mouth and set it down, near a pile of others. He'd done it.

He'd hardly had time to reflect on what he'd done before agony ripped through him. He clenched his jaw shut, determined not to make a sound. Around him, he could hear others struggling, and even a scream from Amazon. Such a mighty sound for one so small.

And then he was out, slipping back into his chrysalis once more.

DESERT ROSE THIRTY-FIVE
how quickly the hawk becomes a dove
when faced with the barrel of a gun

The dragon's veins pulsed with white hot pain as he surged to the barrier, feather wet and hidden behind his gums. He'd made it. Blood dripped from his tail as he skidded onto the sand below. His limbs caught the slippery material like a skidding plane, wings snapped out to parachute himself to a halt. His muscles screamed with pain, and he could barely acknowledge his 'win' or the Overseers in front of him. In the end, he collapsed. The feather drifted from his lips somewhat before he spat it out, one last effort of movement.

He was already almost asleep when pain coursed through him, worse than what he'd already been feeling. He hadn't seen his brother return. A hoarse and offkey cry released from Thirty-Five's throat as tears poured down his cheeks. The gem stashed behind his ear sent mind-wrenching pain through his entire body.

Then, there was nothing. Thirty-Five slipped out of consciousness as a sandy egg wrapped around him, tethering it and him to the floor. It would look almost like it belonged in the sands itself if it weren't for its hard, crusty exterior. Inside, Thirty-Five welcomed this. It was back to the regular grind with him.

Exit Desert Rose Thirty-Five. He will be taking the Give Life reward.

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Opal Three-Seven-Six - Jun 27 2019

BLACK OPAL
honestly i thought that i would be dead by now

The Black Opal mosied up to the Reaper and heaved, opening his mouth wide, gagging. The eel-creature's throat swelled and rippled as his pharyngeal jaws pushed forward, popping out at the back of his throat. A slimy, ruffled feather, his trophy, was safely clamped between the miniature, needle-like teeth. It had been since the flood. The Opal spat it on the ground next the others and backed up.

All in a days work...

He sat back on his hunches and sighed, his eyestalk taking weary glances at the group. All the member's Asimona's little posse had survived, just barely. The funny "Imp" thing was alive too, despite all odds.

The Opal braced himself for the process, wondering how much he would be mutated, or if he would be put to sleep for another eon like last time. I would be nice if he could like.. ask us first. Unfortunately, consent wasn't this overseer's forte.

Then a familiar, biting pain struck his body like lightning, and everything when dark.

Glimmering, black opal grew around the eel-creature's coiled body, engulfing him a snug chrysalis once more.

Cozy.

Peaceful.

This was the true reward.

*Exit Opal Three-Seven-Six

Opal Three-Seven-Six will be taking the give life reward.

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Mayngo - Jun 27 2019

The Fossa staggered the last few steps, dropping the feathers in his mouth at the Merchant's feet. He coughed, licking his lips to get the down off of them before whining, cowering at the feeling, his skin blistered and cracked and painful, before stumbling back, looking for Gatto.

There was a sudden, loud crack, and his eye widened--a last test? Or--?!

In a panic, as he fell, his Magic lashed out, cleaving the ground in front of him. But it was useless; he dropped, lifeless, to the ground, his chrysalis quickly covering him.

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Styx - Jun 27 2019

Oh, thank the caves!

Styx groaned, dropping the talon at the Merchant's feet, dropping into a sit as he drooped his head. It throbbed, and he swayed, tongue lolling out of his mouth, mind buzzing and paying no attention to anyone else.

So he had no warning before there was a sudden crack of Magic, his fur stood on end, and then he hit the ground, Chrysalis spreading from the Gemstone on his forehead.

Speech. Thought.

-exit Styx-

~~Styx will take the Vulture wings~~

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Yoosung - Jun 27 2019

The dog stopped a few feet before the Masked Merchant, looking up at him wearily. His jaw opened enough to drop his trophy, and his fur stood on end after a moment, the Jindo finally recognizing the figure before him.

The air cracked, and the dog began to collapse. The three Will o' the Wisps launched forwards towards the Masked Merchant as Yoosung hit the ground, his chrysalis covering him.

I've been on a lonely trip
dragging along a lonely shadow

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Game Master Dark - Jun 28 2019

The blast of ice, the shaking ground, the hurtling, burning wisps--...

It seemed these Gembound didn't understand what had been offered them. Frost coated the Merchant's black cloak, and another part smoldered; he seemed almost to float as the ground shifted briefly beneath him.

A shivering wave of black--roiling like smoke--slipped over him, and when it faded, the fire and ice were gone with it.

RE: [Quest] The Trials - Part III - Agate Two-Three-Six - Sep 22 2019

The fight to reach this far had nearly kicked the sails out from the temperamental rooster, but they had made it this far, trophy in talon, and they had not given up. They remained along side Mayngo, no matter what, and finally they had caught up to the rest of the group.

Though, coming this late meant that they didn't get a chance to make their demands. The others had shown their displeasure: ice bit the wind, wisps flickered around the dark, cloaked figure. Gatto opened their mouth to squawk, but it was much too late.

As the magic surged, Gatto looked toward their companions. Try as they might to resist as the magic surged, sending them buckling, their gem reacting to protect them... They could not fight back yet-- they needed... they needed to become stronger.

But they had succeeded. They had survived. And the worst mistake the overseers had made was not killing the victors. Given time, they would rise from the ashes, and strike out their own freedom.

One thing was for certain, more than anything else. Gatto would not forget the friends they had made. They would not forget Mayngo, or their own new name, or the other gems who had banded together. They willed this, above all else, as their consciousness was wrenched from them.

a very belated exit!!! agate is getting the sandworm mutation because why not
