RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Vander - Apr 13 2020 Even with the slurred words, he recognized the Agate's voice.
He drifted down quietly, making no entrance and bone-dry out of energy once he finally got there. Finally, home. One brief look was given to his Overseer as he spoke, gently, Right now, he needed a nap, and even the pain of the Merchant's touch was dulled by the welcoming of the sandy chrysalis enveloping him. Desert Rose will be taking the tusk mutation and a chrysalis consequence (+3 for reforming in we're standing alone, +1 for chrysalis in that thread too). RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Wynter - Apr 13 2020
Wynter walked along side the others, listening to them discuss their plans, and driving himself forward. WYNTER HASIRAThe Trial had been filled with death, but to him... It felt like a rebirth into a purpose he had been searching for this whole time. A chance to make a difference. If these strange, danger-dwelling gems could survive out here, he could join them. Help serve and protect the innocent. It sounded so nice. He wasn't expecting the shock of pain from the Collector's touch, turning his poetic rebirth into something more... Well... Literal. But the peace that came with unconsciousness came with a chance to dream of a future; and when he next awoke, he would chase those ambitions wherever they would lead. Like walking in the rain and the snow When there's nowhere to go And you're feelin' like a part of you is dying RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Vargas - Apr 14 2020 Vargas watched them come in, one by one, and observed them. Their conditions, their demeanor, whether they were helping others or running by themselves. Everything was a test; every choice they made reflected something--neither good nor bad, but something--about themselves. He'd watched as best he could with his magic, through the barrier, but past a certain distance he'd been waiting blind. He was surprised to see that Vinea was no longer among them, and he searched, for awhile, with his eyes. Palefur, too. The cat. The ultimate survivor--had died..? His already-low estimation of its questionable spawn dropped even lower. A failure, that one. He'd been banking on the abilities of its parent, but apparently Palefur had fallen short, in the end. A shame. And Imp-... Vargas stared, quizzically, as the hybrid launched into his tirade. That, Vargas had to admit, was surprising--not the tirade, that much he expected of the foul-mouthed little shit, but the fact that Imp had survived and placed. Interesting. He hardly heard its words, but what he did hear raised his rigid brows as high as they would go. There was a mixture, there, of indignant disbelief and hilarity--he dared?! Though some of what he said--well, it was true. Ahh, well; let him think he was free. Let him imagine. Vargas almost envied him that. He didn't answer, however, instead turning his gaze toward the rest. Many had performed well, and-... Some of them apparently lived... in Hydra? He'd have to look into that more later on. He'd never heard of such a thing, though they hardly looked like fighters. And the rest. Null, one leg missing but alive--Vargas dismissed this one. It had lived, but it would not live well; useless for their purposes. Ivory, Virgil--were they a little larger, perhaps, and as it was he noted them down, mentally, as potential stone- or life-givers for front-line troopers. They could likely barrel into foes, bowling them aside-... Agate had done well, and he offered that one a nod. First place--from last, last time, had it been? To them he offered a quiet "well done," of approval. Desert he'd speak to later on, as it requested; it looked exhausted, but it had survived. Good. Wynter he didn't know what to make of. Useful? Mostly uninjured. Magic, perhaps-? He'd ask Desert Rose to explain that one, later. Fisher, too battered, too small. Hargrave--another like Kera's brood. Ubiquitous. Successful, he supposed. And Lyra, some relation of the same-? Shida... Ahh, she and Ivory, yes--children of the Storm-fool. Interesting, that. Kalama-... Disappointing, perhaps, though he hadn't expected much of it. When the last of them were safely secured in their gemstones, the Overseer pushed up. He had training to see to. "Update me when they wake," he said simply, and turned, pacing out toward Canis, alone with his mental notes. exit Vargas RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Fisher - Apr 14 2020
The next thing Fisher knew (he wasn't doing very good, in the grand scheme of things) his ride had stopped dead in its tracks. He slipped off of the side, landing on the ground with a frumple. He blinked up at a strange face he didn't quite remember-- a weird, strange hooded thing-- and the next thing he knew, he was in another flair of pain. Fisher... Had gone through a lot without being forced back into his chrysalis (he probably would have had less scars if he hadn't been so stubborn) but the Collector's magic allowed no argument, and he was swallowed up in an instant to a sleep he hadn't in forever. RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Mirage - Apr 14 2020
Mirage arrived with the others, but was filled with abject horror as the Collector began to cull each and every gembound. She swept down in front of Quentin, shivering as Warrior was touched, and fell to the ground with eyes rolling back into his head.
This was horrific. And there was no explanation for it given, only a solemn stare. RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Null - Apr 16 2020 “ i will refuse to breakIt was hard going, following Hargrave, but at least the snow had been plowed away. At least the danger was eliminated. The gem in her mouth had grown cold as she struggled to find a new rhythm, eventually needing to take a rest here and there as she stutter-hopped to the finish line. The others moving along helped, at least. She was late to say goodbye to Hargrave, and let out a dull whine at seeing her flash into a chrysalis. The Merchant was giving them their prizes- Before she could "receive" her's, she squirreled the diamond close to her (crush's?) friend's own chrysalis. Hard eyes regarded the beast looking to her before she looked towards the Merchant, puffed up with pride at her own gift of friends. The pain was unexpected, though, and she let out a high pitched noise as she shrunk into herself, cringing hard as the gem wrapped protectively around her in a bubble. ;exit Null [ taking white mutation (unless she rolls the glitch consequence? if so then tusks) and a consequence (she joined hydra at 3 cycles!) ] RE: [Quest] The Trial of Hydra - Blinding White - Quentin - Apr 16 2020 He hopped off when they arrived to the tunnel, fur puffed at seeing the mouth again. When the Merchant drew close, though- his heart jumped, and he startled with Mirage suddenly in his vision. But, the beast spoke, and he shuddered to even look all the way up at the myriad of eyes resting there. Update? Who was this person? Mirage gave a question, but the thing was gone. He swallowed hard, taking the diamond he was clinging to with his paws and moving it to his mouth to step away. He aimed for the inside of the tunnel mouth- out of the harsh lights, but still shivering cold, a place for them to watch and wait for their wards to return. Oh, why couldn't his life go back to before these people arrived? ;exit Quentin unless stopped? |
