RE: diversify your portfolio - Game Master Dark - Dec 19 2021
@Pollen RE: diversify your portfolio - Pollen - Dec 19 2021 Pollen's head cocked at the thought of Obieth's magic. Sure, void wouldn't be good in a spar, but,
The muta fiddled with the vines at her arms, making sure they were going into place as they snaked off of Obieth. She hadn't even tried in another element before. Anyways. Brushing off the knees of her overalls, Pollen considered. She was a little hungry- but was it for fighting, or for food? Hm. She couldn't rely on her vines all the time, but she could try and learn something new. Light? Multiple people she knew did light magic. She could learn that from them, or try her own thing- maybe try and figure out spells from the silver screen. Whatever method she'd use, she'd have to get herself ready for a serious fight, if she ever got in one one day. After all, she was the garden knight! Knights were ready for battle! ... at least, she assumed so. Pollen Rose, the Garden (and miscellaneous magics) Knight didn't have as much a ring to it as it could have. Oh well, too bad, the original was still a cool title. @Obieth RE: diversify your portfolio - Obieth - Dec 19 2021 Pollen's attempt to provide encouragement left Obieth peering at her--and then laughing, loudly, but good-naturedly at least. "It is EXCELLENT for a fight," the valk-cat cried. "I have used it, already, against real enemies. That--thing, that attacked Miss Aethril." She used Pollen's own title for the Hand, by habit. "I can throw anyone too strong for me into it. If someone is coming for me--into the Void they go! And I can move out of the way. Or... if too many things are coming for Aethril, and I can't protect her? Or you! I can put you in there, and you'll be safe." Obieth finished picking the vines off of her, with Pollen's help. "It's just not good for sparring, that's all. There wouldn't be a spar." Deleting someone entirely from a spar wasn't exactly a good way to learn anything, on either side. Pollen's next suggestions--about her own magic, with the plants--had Obieth rolling her eyes. "Branch out," she hissed, with a flick of her tail, and the tip of it lit up teal for a moment as if with annoyance. "Terrible! -But... yes. You know, if you can take their eyes... blind them with thorns. Then they won't fight so well," she suggested. Again-... not exactly spar material, but there it was. "If you want to practice traps, practice them on lessers! I do that, with my magic, when I hunt. It's good to learn with." 'Garden Knight' had Obieth peering, and the second one had her questioning. "What is a groundsel?" she asked, a little puzzled. "Why do you not call yourself the Garden Guardian? It rhymes and it is accurate," she suggested, as on-the-nose as the title would've been. "The Gardenian," she added, with a short laugh. The topic changed, then--food--and while Obieth was often easygoing, and would've just followed along, the mention of Nedies reminded her of something. "Nedies," she answered readily. "I want gravy." Obieth had discovered the joys of gravy just last cycle, and had since gone to Nedies a dozen times asking for just a plate of the stuff, which she'd invariably slurp away. Sometimes he was nice enough to put meat in there for her, too. "We can spar again when you learn more, but I think you know a lot. Have you tried looking for someone else who has that magic?" Obieth suggested, glancing at Pollen sidelong. "Have you already learned from anyone? A lot of mine--I learned sparring and practicing with others." Some she'd invented herself, of course--but certainly not all of it. "Maybe there's someone out there who knows how to kill someone with flowers." And Obieth grinned, iron grey fangs gleaming. @Pollen RE: diversify your portfolio - Pollen - Dec 20 2021 Pollen snorted in humor at Obieth's laugh.
She grinned harder at the reaction to her pun. It was an awful one. Good, but bad! Pollen began to walk casually, heading for the Palace again. The conversation continued on, and Pollen glanced back at Obieth's answer. @Obieth RE: diversify your portfolio - Obieth - Dec 20 2021 Obieth mostly just listened, though Pollen's suggestion that she catch food for Nedies earned a further suggestion--or, rather, an offer. "We could hunt together, if you want." Then the cat fell silent again, pulling in to pace alongside Pollen. Her pace was leisurely, her tail flicking now and again behind her, her velveteen shoulders rolling with each step. But as predatory as she might've looked, her mind was saying, 'Groundsel?' She was wondering if she'd ever seen groundsel, and not even known it, when Pollen called her suggestion funky. Was 'funky' bad-? Obieth didn't know, but when she glanced sidelong at Pollen to complain, there was a little yowl in her voice. She'd given her awful suggestion in total seriousness and now her feelings were a little hurt. "The Garden Guardian isn't funky! It is a good name," she protested. She considered suggesting "the Pollen Palace Police" and decided not to, if only because Pollen might make fun of that one, too. Even though it was also awesome. Moving on- "Artio? Oliver? -Are those Overseers?" Obieth asked, unfamiliar with the names. She'd mentioned them after mentioning 'Overseers' so that made a sort of sense. And then Pollen was reassuring Obieth that she would not, in fact, poison her. That they were friends. Obieth glanced at her sidelong. "And I would not eat you," she answered gracefully. What good friends they were. It was a genuinely nice thing for Obieth to say, though it probably wouldn't remotely sound like it to someone who didn't know her. But it did give her an idea."If you grow poisons, maybe you can put them on yourself. Then if someone does try to eat you, you taste terrible. Or they die," she added. That was also a good additional option. @Pollen |
