RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 04 2018 As the scent strengthened to a point where they knew Winter was close, Kielo halted and perked their ears to listen. they caught the faint rustle of scales nearby, and turned their head towards the sound, soon feeling a cool form wrapping around one of their scaled forelegs. The hybrid's blind eyes opened, and they dropped their nose to nuzzle at the snake's body, feeling her soft scales beneath their wet nose. they gave her hide a gentle greeting lick, closely followed by more licks, and the soft tickle of their whiskers. "Hi, Winter-!" they breathed happily, giddiness rising up at the sound of her voice. Their wings opened and trembled with excitement. At this close proximity, they felt Winter's emotion washing over them in waves, drowning out the fear that they'd felt previously, their heart swelling in the moment. The yearning in their heart had faded to a dull ache that was quickly forgotten and buried in the wonderful reunion. They opened their mouth to speak- small talk, maybe- a simple 'how are you' or 'how did hunting go?' but there was nothing they could say in words that hadn't already been said in feelings. Instead, they closed their mouth for a time, and simply grinned. "I've missed you," they said finally, although that, too, barely needed saying. "I.. I know it's hardly been long at all, but it's felt like forever." _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." She wished that she had other ways to show affection, just as Kielo was doing, but this would have to do. Besides, every feeling she needed to express was being shared with them right now. There was barely a need for words or signs. They had everything they needed. But it still felt weird and unnatural to have their entire conversation through thoughts and feelings. Words needed to be spoken between them, even if they already understood each other. "I know, I've missed you too," she murmured. For a little while, she just relaxed, curled around Kielo's leg, her heart so full and so complete that she wondered how she had survived without this before. How had she gone out without ever having experienced this? After a little while, she remembered the pearl and, reluctantly, uncoiled herself and slid towards the little sphere. She picked it up gingerly and brought it back in front of Kielo. "So, these pearls, what do you think they mean?" She didn't need to ask it, as she knew Kielo was wondering it too. But it still comforted her to say it out loud. When I speak. When I think. @Kielo RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 06 2018 Winter's murmuring brought a grin to Kielo's cheek, the feathers along their back fluffing involuntarily and their blood flushing hot in their cheeks. They continued to lick the top of Winter's head, her scales smooth and pleasant beneath their tongue, and wrapped around their foreleg. Her emotions washed over them pleasantly, causing their heart to swell with warmth. They finally raised their head as she slithered away, and Kielo then took the chance to settle back on their haunches, sweeping their feathered tail so that it lay diagonally pointing away from them. Their tail had recently grown to roughly the length of their torso, and they would be able to rest it across their paws if they curled up enough... but such a position would be awfully uncomfortable. Although Kielo didn't know it, they'd finally reached adulthood, their neck holding its swanlike curve and feathers glistening with a lilac sheen. They were the very picture of elegance and grace, like the long-lost father before them. "Oh yes, the pearls. What do you think hey could be?" Kielo asked curiously, confusion washing in over the link. Winter would feel their mind washing over the possibilities, and then see them flare their wings in a moment of epiphany. "Oh! Flowers grow from seeds, don't they? What if they're seeds? Do they look like seeds to you?" They pawed at the pearl of their own, pulling it towards their furry chest. _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." She had never seen a seed like this before. It was shiny and perfectly round and it gave such a strange aura that she wondered if it could grow. Plus, it had come from a flower that was strange in itself. She looked over at Kielo's pearl and wondered what this all meant. Apparently, they had both touched the flowers and they both dissolved into pearls. And then there was the connection that linked their minds together. The pearls had to be involved with that. She sensed Kielo's confusion and her own joined their feelings. Many possibilities flashed through her head - seeds growing into strange flowers, pearls they wore around their necks, things to swallow or ingest (which Winter wouldn't be looking forward too), or things to be joined together. "Well, when they appeared, out connection started. We were joined even though we were far away. Maybe..." she thought for a moment before coming to a sudden idea. "Maybe they have to be connected too! Maybe we should try putting them together." She pushed her own pearl forward and a sense of excitement raced through her. She hoped that something would happen. But she also hoped that her connection to Kielo would stay. She would miss this closeness if it did leave them. "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 06 2018 Kielo nodded slowly. "Do you think we killed the flowers? Maybe that's why..." they murmured, a slight edge of guilt in their voice. "Oh, that's a good idea! Can you bring it here? we can see what happens." The hybrid pushed the pearl they held towards the direction of Winter's scent and voice. their eyes showed a glimmer of excitement, and they seemed hopeful that their idea was correct. they'd love to smell that wonderful flower-scent again, even if they never got to taste the petals. They hoped that the flower hadn't been properly... alive. but maybe if the pearl was a seed? maybe they could make it a little better. Sorrow filled their heart at the thought, the flower's 'death' reminding them in that instant of the poor mouse whose blood had once stained their muzzle. They shuddered, shaking their head in an effort to banish the thought. A flower was just a flower, right...? _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Besides, I only touched mine. I don't think there's any way it could have died just from that. I think...this was meant to happen." She watched Kielo set down their pearl and nudged her own forward, excitement racing in her veins. What was going to happen when they connected? With her nose pressed against the side, she pushed the pearl forward until it gently touched the one Kielo offered to her. "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Previous Game Master Moonlit - Mar 06 2018 As Kielo and Winter's flower cores were set next to one another, something unusual happened. The cores began to glow, their dully iridescent surfaces lighting up, as though in response to the close proximity to their other half. The glow flickered dully as though it were alive, but would only linger when in close proximity to the other flower core. The glow would shine brightest if the two cores might touch; both cores combined giving off a glow akin in brightness to a small candle burning.
Other than that sign, there was nothing else happened; the Gembounds' bond remained, for now. But at least, it seemed like a step in the right direction. @Winter @kielo RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 06 2018 Kielo's relief was, even outside of the mental bond, tangible. they breathed out a sigh and allowed their feathers to lay flat. As they heard the gentle rustle of Winter nudging the two pearls together, Kielo's ears perked up, an excited ripple running through their feathers. They twitched their ears and sniffed excitedly for a change in scent or a sound that would signify some kind of change. After some time, they pushed themselves up into a sitting position. "Winter...?" they whispered excitedly, raising a paw as though to reach out to the pearls, but hardly daring. "Is anything happening? Are they growing?" _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this. tags: @Winter notes: here RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Mar 06 2018 Winter watched with surprise as the pearls started glowing. She crept back just a bit as they shone like a candle, but was a little disappointed when nothing else happened. Disappointed, she looked up at Kielo. "No, they just started glowing when they got close together. But that could mean that we're close to something." She cocked her head, confusion flooding her thoughts. What were they supposed to do? Maybe they could bury them like Kielo suggested. She was sure that they had caught that thought, but she decided to ask anyways. "Any other ideas?" "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 07 2018 Kielo's ears went from hopefully perked, to twitched back thoughtfully. She blinked slowly, feeling the thoughts flickering through Winter. "Oooh... That's odd, right? Flower seeds don't usually glow?" something abut Winter's reply told her that, no, it was a little odd, but conversely, the disappointment flowing over their link told them otherwise. Kielo paid close attention to Winter's emotional signals as the snake presented her question, tilting her head slowly. "Well... you plant seeds, right? in the ground?" The signals already coming from Winter told them that they were right, and their ears perked up. The hybrid clambered to their paws and flared their wings eagerly. "We'll need to find some soft soil! Right? Flowers don't grow in stone." _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this. tags: @Winter notes: here |
