RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Aran - Jun 18 2020

Aran didn't quite understand what was going on with this entire thing. The hunt, finding those three specific things. He mused that no one would be going after the dangerous one just yet, or they would take things in the order that they were said. Aran, however, was curious about what two of them entailed. Hair spun to cloth? The blood of the savage? Aran couldn't do anything about the cloth part, however, he could help with the blood.

"What does the blood of the savage entail? What would I be looking for?" He questioned.

It was best to gather all the information that he could before he went and got himself killed looking for some kind of dangerous lesser gembound to harvest their blood. Aran wasn't looking to die while helping the three kings. Whatever that meant. He also didn't know how he would bring the blood to the place... Need to find someone that can.

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Orthoclase-Alpha - Jun 18 2020

Surprisingly (or... because there were numerous bodies between it and him) all James received in response to his terrible insult was a low snarl and snap of teeth.

Toxic eyes fixed on the Kings alone, widening with a keen interest. Hunting was certainly enjoyable at the giving end, and the opportunity to partake in a show of strength? Certainly worthwhile. It'd heard nothing about Huntsmen or beings from other worlds, but... one thing a time. The gears were churning in its head already, paying no mind to the deer asking for specifics on the definition of savagery.

The orthoclase dipped its head in acknowledgement towards the Kings, grunted something about "I'll bring blood" and shouldering its way out of the alcove.

alpha is going in search of the blood of the savage!
temporary exit to send in the a-team, unless stopped
others may follow... if they dare... (jk it'll probably be fine)

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Puck - Jun 18 2020

Puck listened quietly, red eyes focused on the phoenix. Puck didn't know what this all was about, but it sounded like fun. Puck would get to rip someones hair out, or throw a rock and make someone bleed. And Puck would get paid for it! He thought, at least. The Hunt was a form of payment, right? Whatever that was. Puck could throw rocks at the thing they were hunting. The metal and rock rod stuff sounded pretty boring, though. Maybe he could stop by and tease the people gathering rocks. Or take both the fur and the rock back. Get credit for both.

"Puck will get some fur." Puck said. He would start out with that. He eyed the other gembound, taking note of who had fur and who didn't. His eyes stopped on Orthoclase, remembering his impromptu flight. Puck shuddered and moved on. Puck was unsure of what they meant by 'pure of heart', but there were plenty of gembound here with fur and hair. Puck figured that he could just go by order of elimination. If he got fur from every gembound in the caves, there was bound to at least be one 'pure of heart'.

"Will anyone join Puck?" He said, scratching his face with a back foot.

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Akaari - Jun 19 2020

Just remember, darling, all the while. You belong to me.

~ ~

Large and menacing, and green eyes. Green eyes staring, so many, just watching and everyone seemed to be okay with it? No, no this was not okay. Toxic green eyes: evil. The cub watched him push his way in, caring for no one else, ignoring the size of the alcove for of course, what were they compared to him? Part of her wanted to saunter straight up to him and climb on the huge creature, the other part was far too wary of what those green eyes and what they meant.

Her eyes had to turn away from him, though her mind never did, to the twisting kings, their voices both as one and separate. Perhaps the most interesting character she had seen yet. She very much has to get to know them. Kings, paladins, leaders, rulers. How very fun! If she helped them - one of them, all of them, were they actually separate or one thing? - would she become one of those kings who had a bunch of titles, now that was intriguing.

Others began to leave, announcing what they were going to look for - without asking any questions? insanity! - she noted the green eyed one left for blood (why was that not surprising) and those that followed him. The blood of the savage did sound like it would be the most interesting one, though she could not follow after them just yet. "What will these things do, what are you making with them?" A nod of her head as someone else spoke, asking an important question about savages. Unlike the other though, she cared not about herself, only about the knowledge to gain from these so called Kings and how it might help in the future. "Where did the Hunt begin? Why did it begin? Why our help? Have you done anything about it? How do we know something is pure of heart? What if the stick is not flat enough? How much blood do we need? What will happen if we leave the hunt be? Or help them? Or save the...the quarry?" Rattling off question after question, sitting in front like an attentive little child who could not keep her hand down for the teacher had to pick her.

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Sharp - Jun 22 2020

Sharp
we can wander through the forest, and do so as we please
Sharp's head cocked curiously as the colorful-eyed entity spoke. It had three voices, which was weird, but considering that some of the other Gembound she had met included a fire-spitting humanoid, a massive dragon and... well, Vargas... it didn't faze her too much. Heck, right now she was sitting next to a 5-ton dinosaur. But what did peak her interest was what they said. Between the pheasant's seeming bouts of internal bickering, they asked for three things-- the hair of a fair beast, a savage's blood, and a long, metallic (or stone, or wood) rod. Now, finding metal? Sharp, being the scrappy little lizard she was, was always trying to find metal! It wouldn't be too hard to find the pole they needed, right?

So, instead of asking questions like an intelligent creature, the sungazer's mind zeroed in on the blue-eyed's request. "Rod! Rod for the kingies!" she cried, tapping her feet around in her signature happy dance. She could do this! The back of her mind noticed the black-white-red reptilian and the lithe herbivore from before leaving, also apparently looking for stones. With a hum and a spring in her step, she fumbled towards them, leaving the Kings behind her.

thinking | "speaking"
Temp exit for the rod!

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Scout - Jun 28 2020

Scout walked back towards where the group had originally gathered, struggling to carry her prizes before dumping them off of her back rather unceremoniously, exhausted after carrying them so far. She swallowed and looked up, ears perking forward before she looked up to make sure Sharp was here.

"Kings! We've brought you not one, but two rods for you,", she said, "Both I and my friend here, Sharp, gathered them from a strong tree. We hope they're to your liking."

Scout bowed her head gently and stepped back, waiting for an answer.

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Game Master Dark - Jun 29 2020

The Kings watched, and listened, as the children spoke amongst themselves. They did not speak, for this did not concern them; but then questions were asked of them, and they began to answer.

The dark dog was asking if the huntsmen were like hands, and for a moment this confused the Kings--ahh, but Hargrave did not mean literal hands, did she? No, she spoke of this cave's authority structure--if even it remained as it had. "No," the voices answered, in calm tandem. "They are... primal energy, made manifest." "Not perfectly accurate, of course, but that is the best description."

Crown's question had their icy eyes turning toward him. "We just told you-!" Alnitak began, fierce, but was silenced by the overriding voice of Mintaka. "Do you mean, who to obtain the items from? No; you will need to use what you know of these caves." A nod was given to Aran, as this answer was given, as it applied to both their questions.

And last, Akaari: her flood of questions striking each of the Kings in a different way. "We will need to make a beacon-" Mintaka began, only for Alnitak to interrupt. "Too straight? Why would it matter if it is too straight!? We did not say if it should be straight, or round-" "A rod is rounded, Alnitak-" Alnilam cut in last, a quiet, soothing voice, but strong in its own right. "It began a very long time ago. And we do not interfere, ourselves, except to allow you to do so, because we do not agree on how to proceed. We-" "Alnilam would save every prey beast, and let the predators starve. Ha! Weakn-" "And you would see them all slain," Alnilam cut in. The colors making up the galaxy-hued bird swirled more violently, the stones at its chest rotating more quickly. "Perhaps we can stick to the history, and tell them what will happen-? Let them decide," Mintaka cut in, calmly.

There was a quiet "hrmph," and the combined voices began to speak.

"It is a hunt that has canvassed the galaxies again and again, weaving into myths and legends across many worlds," and the voices were melodic now. "Its ending is... difficult to describe. But to favor the quarry strengthens all prey. And to favor the hunters grants boons to all predators, for a time. To stand aside, and let happen what may, leaves it to fate: and sometimes weaves a lesser blessing for those who fail, or fall."
This explained, the Kings fell silent; and then they waited, for the Gembound to do as they would.

When Scout returned--the first, the Kings hoped, of many--they examined the branches.

"We said RODS! Of metal, or stone, or WOOD! This is living-" "It will do. You have done well," the second voice interrupted; and then the third, with a smile in its tone: "In fact, perhaps living wood is even better."

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Sharp - Jun 29 2020

the   thorn produces delicate roses
sharp

Sharp practically shrunk back into her scales when the red-eyed King spoke. Did she do something wrong? Wait, was there even a difference between living and not-living wood? She wasn't exactly a bright gembound, so it must've passed over her head. Golden-eyed and blue-eyed were far nicer, though, so maybe he was just a grump.

She scurried out from beneath Scout's legs, where she'd been hiding before, and beside the two wooden poles. "Rods for the kingies!" she prodded one of the branches with her snout, adding a small "sorry" at the end. She wondered what the purpose of the rods themselves were-- were they for fire? If so, why was metal and stone allowed? Was it to hoist something up? Perhaps it was for poking people on the snout from very far away?

Whatever it was, she didn't feel like making meany-red-eyes any more disgruntled with a question, so she just sat down onto her belly and waited for the others to filter back in.

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - Scout - Jul 02 2020

Scout blinked and smiled gently, "Thank you, Kings, but my friend here helped, and one of these rods is theirs, too."

She bowed her head before standing next to her newfound companion, and looked down at Sharp, "... Will you be my friend? I've never really had one before."

RE: [Quest] The Three Kings - Wild Hunt - James - Jul 02 2020

James came cantering in, his chest puffing once again for the second time that day. He gasped for breath as he stopped, dropping the cloth gently so he could breathe before coughing weakly and looking up. He clenched his teeth and thought back to those who he had failed before clenching his eyes shut. This was his second chance... he could do this for them, for Ari.

... That is, if he could give his gift away somehow. He hoped so.

He picked up the cloth and made his way forward past the others who had returned, setting the cloth down gently before raising his head to speak, "... I tried to get you the blood of the wicked, but... I failed. Instead of trying to just... ask- though perhaps that wouldn't have gone well either- I doomed others to injury. So I've decided to try and get a cloth spun from the fur or hair of someone pure-hearted, so I left to get it from my friend who treated my own wounds. I... I hope it suffices. I spun it with my own hair to make it stronger, so I hope it's still good."

James bit his lip and took a few steps back, eyes down to one side as he waited for an answer. He desperately hoped that this could help him redeem himself
