RE: Of Friends and Foes - Cancer - Jul 15 2015

Time was a precious thing. So many had so little of it, to do the things they'd wish to do, to see the things they'd yearn to see- and with blood oozing down his leg at an alarming rate, it seemed Cancer's own time was drawing shorter and shorter- he'd never climb back out, and soon, that other pulse would waken, just as the lamb had, and they'd both be dead. Surely this is what the little creature feared so much... surely this is why she looked at him, through him, with unseeing, disbelieving eyes. He would've cowered if he felt he could move.

Then, the lamb began to shift, and soft cloven hooves tapped across the stone and silt. Rounded ears perked up, and Cancer tried his best to keep watch of her as she stumbled and faltered towards him. He wouldn't speak again- she had purpose, surely. Maybe this lamb was magical in some way... maybe she would end his pain. End his suffering, and condemn him to stone and rubble. Oh, it would be a mercy. He closed his eyes, giving up on seeing her- only blurry visions now, fading into white more and more- oh what was he fighting about? Why had he forced Leon to chase him? Where was Leon? The cat's mind became bleary, confused. He tried to open those eyes as he felt himself slumping down, but to no avail.

Then, he felt the brush of soft, so soft fleece against his pelt and he gasped, short and quiet, a gentle counterpoint to the lamb's tiny squeal of surprise. She flinched away, he leaned towards her- seeking that touch again. When nothing met his fur, he stumbled painfully to the side, his front paws catching him before he fell. The knife shifted, he winced, and involuntarily, kicked that injured hind leg. Unwillingly, the knife fell loose, a clattering sound as it hit the ground, then a warm rush across his thigh and leg as blood pooled from the wound. He moaned, the only sound he could muster... and then, behind closed eyelids, a soft light. Warm. Soothing. The pain left him... and then, there was screaming.

Yellow eyes snapped open, and blinking against the light, Cancer watched in horror and amazement as his vision returned- and the lamb's glowing body, his own glowing too, exchanged injuries. He gasped as he realized what was happening, found his heart racing in his chest without cause, and the cat moved to stand but found his leg still numb from the now-fading wound.

"No, stop! Stop, please! You don't have to do this!" He cried, pleading, moving again to stand and finding his feet this time. "Little sheep, don't! That's enough! Stop now!" His voice was a quiet, whispered kind of urgency, enough to be heard but not enough to stir the sleeping-- oh lords beneath, what was that thing!?

As Cancer's eyes finally focused perfectly on the slumbering dragon, he fell silent, legs bunching up to lower him, belly-down, to the floor. Terror lined his face now, ears pinned back and teeth bared in a defensive snarl. He stepped backwards out of reflex. What the fuck is going on down here!? What are these things!?

RE: Of Friends and Foes - Amaria - Jul 15 2015

"Speech"
Further and further the clouded leopard climbed down the slop of the fissure. Skills paws moved as quickly as they could, avoiding most of the loose rubble that threatened to cause her to slip and tumble down the rest of the way. Her tail moved accordingly, keeping her balanced in her haste down the fissure. The further she got the stronger her beating heart drummed. The scent of blood was growing thicker by the second and for the second time in her lifespan she was terrified. In her terror something seemed to rush through her, starting from the gem on her tail and slowly creeping up along her smell. An explosion of senses consumed her. Everything became highly defined in her vision. Every smell grew stronger, more prominent and nearly suffocated her with the metallic bitterness of blood. Ears twitched and moved as she suddenly caught the sound of voices. Someone was down there with Cancer.

With this new found ability Amaria sprinted. Racing over the loose rocks with very easy steps as she could now very clearly see where perfect spots to place her paws were. She burst through the opening that gave way to a large pit. Her frantic blue dilated eyes caught the injured form of Cancer first. Almost instantly a cry of horror escaped the leopard and she sprung from her spot, jumping to clear the distance between them instantly. It was in this instance that a sudden light enveloped the black leopard, but she did not care. She didn't stop going to him all the while her eyes shot up towards a lamb that had been close to Cancer. Rounded ears pushed forwards, unsure whether she should be defending Cancer from this strange, glowing creature, or if she was to assume it was assisting cancer.

She slid to a stop, just barely keeping herself from tumbling into Cancer and her eyes dropped to him. She froze to her spot as eyes watched. EVerything was overwhelming. The scent of blood that belonged to Cancer, the smell of burnt flesh and fur. The very site of it nearly made her stomach curl in repulsion. A shrill shriek suddenly rung out, ringing in her ears and disoriented the feline and it was all Amaria could do to keep herself calm. She instantly released her magic, no longer wanting these heightened senses as at the moment they were doing nothing but making her feel ill and causing her ears to hurt. It was only a brief relief before she turned her gaze towards the lamb that was now screaming in such pain. Her heart ached instantly and she could have cried as she wished she could do something to ease her sudden pain. Unsure of what exactly was happening, but as she turned her gaze to cancer her breath hitched in her throat. His wounds were gone and he was raising to his paws, pleading to the lamb to stop what she was doing.

She circled around Cancer, turning her eyes all over him as she watched his wounds heal and seal themselves. It was amazing, but the pain the lamb was screaming in meant that what ever kind of spell she had just used was not something that simply healed wounds. Her gaze slipped towards the lamb, all the while she brushed her side along Cancer's allowing him to know she was here for him. Though, in all the chaos she was feeling from the previous use of heightened senses and the screaming of the lamb, it was only now that she realized there were only two people she saw right now. She had felt three heart beats. Three.

Cautious eyes searched the pit and it did not take long for them to settle upon the form of a massive beast not far from where she stood. Almost instantly fur bristled up, as her lips peeled back to expose her long, sharp fangs. Ears folded back against the top of her head, but she did not move from her spot next to Cancer as he seemed to have lowered himself to the ground. It was no time for her to be consumed by fear. Cancer had been hurt, even as his wounds were now better, Amaria did not want to assume he was capable of fighting something else. Especially not something so large. Of course, she would have no chance against it either. she had never fought a creature ever. She would not falter. She was here to help Cancer, to bring him home, and that was what she was going to do.

She shot her gaze down to Cancer and then swung it right back over to the Lamb. She wanted to leave. To take cancer and urge him back up the fissure that had led her path down into the pit, but how could she leave this lamb as it now writhed with pain. "Cancer..." Her voice nearly shook, was on the verge of being a whimper as she crouched down next to him. She made sure she was ready to move in case it was needed. She would wait to see if Cancer had anything to say, or if this Lamb would be able to soothe itself from the pain it had taken from Cancer. After that, she would urge Cancer it was time to leave.

Next to the physical pain of the transfer, the sounds and smells were what affected the poor lamb the most. Her body became gradually more ruined as the wounds took root upon her - but it was the crackling skin, the popping, the sizzling, the smell of her body on fire, which made her stagger and finally, to collapse. The lamb was on her chest by the time the second feline arrived. She struggled to remain composed, to at the very least keep herself standing. As Dawa finally forced herself back up to her four weak limbs, a new pain sliced through her hip -- the knife wound -- and her blood began to spread across her pale haunch. Tears were now pouring freely from her sightless eyes; she could feel the wetness sinking in to her cheeks, and felt a temporary relief. It would not be enough.

Cancer refused her. He pleaded, but the lamb did not hear him. She only heard the squeal of her body as it cooked, and then... Calm. A calm which told her that she had no more pain left; her nerves had been destroyed by the power of the fire. Dawa was no longer a pristine little creature - she was black-marked and bloody, barely able to keep herself standing. The light faded gradually, and when it finally snuffed out, Dawa collapsed in to the dirt.

She had enough energy left to turn her head and set her wide-eyed stare upon the two felines; her voice, when it finally croaked out of her, was filled with more terror than pain. They were out of time.

R-run. She pleaded, before her eyes closed, and the little creature lost consciousness. Run or you'll die. She had wanted to say - but either way, doom was upon them.

He could feel it.

Every swell of magic, every beam of light pouring out of her crystal womb, every surge of energy that rippled through the air between her and the cat. He felt everything. It was enough, more than enough, for the beast to slowly come to awareness of what was going on inside of the deep pit.

Awakening was a slow process. His body, once in the throes of hibernation, sluggishly began to warm up. The blood coursing through his veins warmed, too, until it made the surface of his skin hot. His brain, once fuzzy, soon took in the environment with stunning clarity as he heard the sounds of the lamb breaking through the stone and speaking, that gentle, quiet, fearful voice; as soon as he heard it he tuned into the sound, until the pain she took upon herself was too much and she screamed, and the dragon's burning, fiery eyes peeled open. There was a great huff from the beast, expelling a cloud of dry smoke from his flared nostrils before he began to unfold his limbs and lift his heavy head.

Slowly, ever so slowly as if he weighed a hundred thousand pounds; years upon years of sleep would render any body old and tired. There was a deep, cacophonous rumbling from the pit of his chest as he turned his head towards the two cats and there, his vivid orange eyes pinned on them. What were they doing? What were they doing?! He felt the magic between the leopard and the lamb, and saw the wounds that suddenly erupted on her skin. A flare of anger burst forth as he suddenly rose, slamming his massive hands on the ground. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" His explosive voice roared out, shaking the entirety of the cavern as hot, shimmering air erupted from his lungs. There was nothing but fury in the dragon as he parted his jaws and breathed, intending to roast the creatures that dared to awaken him.

Vivid red flames peeled from his jaw, scorching the air just above their heads. The dragon snarled and made a lunge for them, snapping rows of pointed teeth.

RE: Of Friends and Foes - Cancer - Jul 17 2015

Cancer was, at first, so concerned for the lamb that he didn't see the movement across the pit's length. He didn't hear the rumble, felt it in his paws but paid it no mind. The light faded, the lamb collapsed, and then, she pleaded for them to run. Cancer stepped back, unsure. "But you-"

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?"

The cat whirled his hazy vision, clearing now, towards the behemoth that rose across from them. It's smoking maw, its glowing eyes, it's terrible voice- he cowered for just a second, eyes wide with terror. Then, that beast inhaled, and Cancer knew what was coming. Fire. Just like Leon's. His back prickled from the memory of it, and then he acted in the only way he could think of in that moment- a paw snapped out and shoved at Amaria, to pin her beneath him as the fire burst from the dragon's maw and across the air above them. Heat scored across his armor again, the metal scorched once more with black soot. Then, as it faded and the beast came forward with a bone-crushing bite, the cat grabbed his companion by the scruff and hauled her the first few steps towards safety.

"AMARIA, RUN!" He roared, another harmless but painful nip aimed for her rump if she took too long to get going, too slow a start. He would take up the charge behind her, shepherding the other leopard up the scrambled slide of stones and dirt, towards the safety of the gorge above. The whole time, he shouted at her to run, to go, to move faster, a panic-stricken plea for her to get to safety first. "Go, go go gogogogogogogo!" It was perhaps as a habitual thing that he manged to pluck the dagger from the ground in the scurry towards freedom above, and once atop the ledges, he'd slip it back into its sheath and away they'd run, leaving the pit behind forever, or so the black cat hoped.

(Note: Ark, let me know if the PP was no good, and I can edit the post. Basically, first he pushes her down away from the path of fire, then he's hauling/shoving her up the slope to safety. Hope that's okay. XD)

Injuries: Sore paw pads, Headache, Short of Breath

Other: He grabs the knife on the way out, his armor's scorched black from the flames.
