RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Game Master CJ - Sep 22 2015

The hyena's reaction was followed by an echoing, cackling laughter that didn't seem to come from any particular direction. It enveloped the group from all sides before fading into an airy hiss, dissipating as Giggle looked upward. A large shadow that seemed to take up quite a large portion of the ceiling morphed endlessly, dozens of green eyes blinking on and off in random parts of the thing's body. Just as Giggle would catch a glimpse of the shadowy fiend, it would slip away quickly toward Tunnel I before the others could get a good look.

O Eyes, What Do You See? Part 1 has been completed!

It is unclear from the group's position where the strange manifestation has gone to. However, upon approaching Tunnel I, a trail of the thick, dark liquid dots a path in small amounts. It seemingly leads all the way through to Orion. Upon following the trail, one would find it leads all the way down Tunnel K and seems to stop just before Canis. (Continued in Part 2)

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Dovefeather - Sep 22 2015

DOVEFEATHER
swim with the current and float away, down by the river everyday

Giggle told the kitten to quiet and so she did, her bleary eyes trying to focus. Her skin felt tingly, as though all of her body had fallen asleep but she was still conscious. Her tail hurt the worst, blistering under the fur as the skin died and started to shrivel-- it would be hours before it was noticeable, but the damage had been done.

A gentle purr worked up through her body as the others warmed her up, however. Other than that gentle rumble, she seemed to hold still. As she stared up at the ceiling, she saw the shadow-- hundreds of green eyes, all looking down at her.

She swore she heard laughter, but she was much to exhausted to react to anything else. The kitten simply wanted to curl up and fall asleep in the warmth of these new friends... And so she did, drifting off.

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Giggle - Sep 23 2015

Giggle jerked horribly upon seeing the thing-of-many-eyes. It vanished--or seemed to--as quickly a it came, and the hyena trotted uneasily back to Dovefeather, nudging her gently.

"Stay warm. Stay safe. I must go speak with the bones at once." Her voice was taut with something just this side of fear: tension, choked concern. She looked up and around at the others.

"Don't go in the water. If any of you missed it, there was a shadow on the ceiling, something with... with many eyes. Be careful. I'll come back soon," she added, directing this last down at the cow-licked, tamarin-cuddled cat.

She turned, black fungal goo still caked to her shoulder, and bolted off in a rocking gallop back toward Canis, and her bones.

((Shaf, if Dovefeather would ask to come with, I can edit it or just assume Giggle carries her off too, it's up to you!))

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Delphine - Sep 23 2015

What her eyes bore witness to was a horror far more terrifying than the chaos incarnate that was Raheerah; no, whatever this was was something far more indescribable and entirely incomprehensible. A thick, amorphous blob clung to the ceiling, seemingly harmless until in numerous green eyes jerked open and peered down upon the Gembounds collected by the Eyes. Delphine's heart froze in terror and her breath caught in her throat, its cackle was entirely otherworldly and when it deigned to slip away, the equine found herself unable to move for but moments.

Whatever this thing was, it had closed the Eyes of Eridanus, her home. Even if fear sought to paralyze her in this very spot, she knew that she could not let slip this creature. The young mare needed to know how to fix things and not soon after the departure of the hyena, she followed in her wake, breaking into a gallop that carried her through Eridanus and towards Orion. The black ichor left behind trails of its intent, easy to follow but entirely foreboding in presence.

exit delphine!

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Booker - Sep 23 2015

B-Booker... I c-couldn't... I'm sorry... Sorry... Sorry... I've failed... A low, half-pained, half-angry grunt issued from the numbat as his head snapped to stare at Dovefeather, at once seeing her and someone much different. Frozen by a strange mix of old, locked away memory and current vision, It simply watched as Diot rushed to the kitten's aid, practically treating her like family.

That's because she is fami- no she isn't! Stop poisoning us with your sentiment. I have to stay anyway, Diot needs us! No, Diot needs you. I didn't adopt him, and I didn't decide to become friends with a dragon, and I certainly didn't worship a fuckin' mushroom! Fine, you wanna stay in control? Have fun watching my family fall apart.

Abruptly, It was hoisted out of his own mental dialogue, flustered and annoyed, mutinously glaring at the ground as more Gembounds clustered around the kitten.

Distracted, only the shriek of the massive hyena broke him from his internalized fight, and It turned to stare at the beast instead, ears flattened, watching the strange goo with a suspicious hiss. Immediately after, a huge boom of laughter, cruel and taunting, filled the air, and It stared up, mouth dropping open at the sight of dozens of eyes.

The thing seemed to disappear as soon as it had appeared, and It was left wondering whether it had even existed for a moment. The reaction of the hyena was enough to reassure him of his continued sanity, and the scribe let out a soft sight of relief, blinking and turning his gaze to the swiftly fleeing horse.

Heh, she sure left in a hurry. What were you saying, Booker? About hope and forgiveness? Shut up! Hey, truth hurts, pal. Your friends are no friends at all. Stop. Fine. But you only want me to stop because you know I'm right. They can't even tell you're gone! Maybe you should've tried harder with that Louie guy, at least he wanted you arou-

Once again, It was swiftly booted from the mindspace, this time smirking in victory, slowly ambling over to Diot and the fallen cat, hesitating before settling down next to the tamarin, idly beginning to heat up his paws with the fire that lay within, nudging his son's elbow just a bit and flashing him a proud smile, all wide-eyed and sickly sweet. "Ya did good, kid. She looks better already!"

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Fallah - Sep 24 2015

Well, good. Everything seemed to be taken care of. The hyena shreiked and- Fallah assumed- they all saw the shadow and heard the laughter. Fallah had to follow it. she knew she had to get down to the bottom of this. When things like this happened, she knew she would have to see them out to the end. Trotting quickly up to @Sadie, Fallah whispered, "Here. Later." and gave her a quick nudge before sprinting off to follow the whatever-it-was.

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Diot - Sep 26 2015

Diot was well way too distracted with hugging the vibrating cat, Dove. That was till the hyena had broke out in a shriek. Diot immediately focused on the large beast. Were they alright? Would they need a hug too? That was until suspicious black goo fell from them. Booker had given it a very suspicious hiss. Only to have his mouth drop at the sight of something above? Blinking a few times he young tamarin stared above with all the others. Only what ever it was had ran off just as soon as they were alerted of its presence.

What ever it was it seemed to deeply disturb the group of gembound who had gathered there. The hyena had bolted off after what ever it was, and soon others followed. It wasn't till his father sat beside him and given him some word of praise that he began to relax. Seeing as his work was probably done, he ceased hugging the vibrating cat. Smiling and giving Booker one instead, he had a feeling that his father could definitely use one after all.

RE: Quest: O Eyes, What Do You See? - Sadie - Sep 26 2015

Between Sadie's licks and the warmth volunteered by two other gembounds--a spotted canine and a monkey--the kitten was beginning to warm up, to Sadie's relief. Still, the ginger cow likely would've continued rasping the little feline body with her tongue, had a very sudden, very loud shriek not caused her raise to her head and stare at the panicked hyena in confusion and some alarm.

But the hyena's cackle was nothing compared to the horrible laughter that both surrounded them and came from nowhere, and Sadie was afraid. By the time she was able to unfreeze and look towards the ceiling, the thing was in the process of fleeing, and she glimpsed only a blur of black and green. Nonetheless, the glimpse was enough to impart a sense that whatever that thing was, it was very, very wrong. So wrong, in fact, that it had blinded the Eyes, hurt the cave itself.

Such a creature shouldn't be left to its own devices, and already most of the others had run off in pursuit, including Fallah. Sadie nodded when the lynx whispered to her. They certainly couldn't talk now, with that shadow thing running loose. Yet Sadie was hesitant to join chase. Honestly, the creature had scared her, and she could just stay here and keep an eye on the kitten...But no. That thing had damaged Eridanus, had indirectly almost frozen that little cat, and now it could be trying to hurt the other residents of the caves. A confrontation was needed, and Sadie wanted to be there for it. The cat seemed to be in good hands, and Sadie could try to find her later and make sure she really was okay. With that thought, the ginger cow chased after Fallah, now determined to find the unnamed creature.
