RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Ghanyarah - Dec 31 2015

Bewildered sunset eyes had only a few seconds to check on the three riding on his back. Eve had fluttered up and landed back on his head, and Booker and Diot both managed to cling to him without falling off. So... at least they were okay. Arkrael's voice rang out from above and the reptile snapped his gaze up to her, still wide eyed and alarmed, but her faintly amused and warm intones caused the reptile to huff and blink the shock away, quick to regain his cool in front of her. "I'm fine! I was built for this." He sneered at her and trudged forward, only for Eve to quickly mirror her question, causing the reptile to battle with the heat rising in his cheeks. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm fine! Geez! Quit asking me!" He answered, flustered.

It was hard to look cool in front of Arkrael when his legs were too short to hold up against the water, but he tried.

Thankfully, most of the others didn't seem to fare well against the water either, and he saw the bear lose his footing and the great big three-headed dog too. Ghanyarah chuffed quietly to himself and charged onward, heading towards the front of the group again. He could feel the air getting colder, but he persisted, excitement warming his blood.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Game Master Madison - Jan 03 2016

Another surge of water bursts through the tunnel, this one far heavier and longer than the ones before it. The water is growing colder and icier, but the end of the tunnel is nearing. Characters WILL have to roll a Barely Successful or higher to withstand the water surge and advance to the next part of this quest. If they fail a roll, they may continue to make rolls until they achieve a Barely Successful or higher, and then may post in the next part.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Ghanyarah - Jan 03 2016

As he charged on, his brain was fizzling with embarrassment and frustration at the surges of water threatening to sweep them away. He'd think at this point he could call himself a water treading aficionado, but apparently that wasn't the case; no matter his attempts to stay afloat, they always seemed to carry him away, and it was beginning to grate on his nerves. With the three Gembounds riding along on his back, it was up to him to keep them above the water. But he would maintain his position, eagerly plunging through the tunnel until another rumbling hinted at yet more water that would come bursting through the tunnel. Ghanyarah grunted, grinding his teeth and stiffening his limbs as he stationed himself there and prepared for the water.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Ghanyarah - Jan 03 2016

To no avail. The water came crashing all at once, like a deafening roar it would consume them. It was colder than before, faster, as though the pressure was beginning to build up from where ever it was coming. The lizard scowled and felt himself rise with the water, struggling to stay on its surface. While the first few seconds of the surge overwhelmed him and picked him up off the ground, Ghanyarah was finally prepared. It took him a little while to steady his body, but he did manage to balance himself, orienting his body to allow Booker, Diot and Eve to stay aloft while he swam forward. He wasn't powerful enough to swim against the forceful current, but at least he didn't lose any ground this time.

Once the water had gone down, Ghanyarah landed on his feet and plunged forward, hoping to cover as much ground as he could before the next surge.

exit Ghanyarah to part 2! @Booker @Diot and @Eve still have to roll to keep their balance on Ghanyarah's back.

Kerberos didn't get any help, but he figured it out on his own. He was rather large, so he could pretty much stand, and although it was slow going, the massive pup managed to claw his way through the water.

"Follow me!" He woofed to the others, tail sweeping over the icy current.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Leon - Jan 03 2016

With his daughter on his shoulders, Leon was pretty confident now. As long as he could keep his balance, hopefully Cadence wouldn't fall off. They were advancing from behind the water lizard who had stubbornly charged ahead of them, and Leon curiously watched him before his attention drifted to the others. There was Kerberos behind them, or ahead of them, large enough that he seemed capable of holding his own. Arkrael was here too, and Leon was thinking that he wanted to stick close to her due to his relation to the wolf. Booker and a monkey and a bird were riding the water lizard, but Leon ignored them for the most part. They were of less interest to him.

Another surge was quick to come, he could feel the ground rumble and hear the water sloshing up ahead. The bear scowled, holding steadfast. "Hold on, Cadence!" He spoke up to his daughter, preparing himself. When it came, he felt a shudder run through his body at the icy temperature, but he was able to stand against it. His fur was already slicked back from the precious surges, so this cold was old by now. He chuffed, satisfied once the water finally fell away. He would double check on Cadence - if she'd fallen, he would set her back up on his shoulders - and moved in after Kerberos and Ghanyarah to the end of the tunnel.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Cadence - Jan 03 2016

The little cub clung tightly onto Leon's shoulders with both paws around his large lump of obsidian. Despite the danger she was giggling quite happily, completely sure that her father would protect her from anything... She also didn't think anything was likely to happen to her. That was until a large wave of water splashed underneath her Papa Bear and from the shudder of his body she was thrown off. Down to the water she crashed-- or she would have if it weren't for Leon's quick reflexes.

He snatched her by the scruff and she was able to be saved from the thundering waves. "Nice catch! I was almost a goner!" Though if she really believed that she didn't sound too distressed about the situation as she was still laughing.

I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums,
What a shame that you came here with someone...

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Cadence - Jan 03 2016

In his jaws the little cub continued to laugh until she was thrown back atop his back. Now, she began to hold tight again. This time she paid more attention to what she was doing and made sure that she didn't roll off or fall off as she had before even when the waves surged again she was ready as they continued to traverse the new tunnel.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Booker - Jan 03 2016

Again the water rushed forth, and even more Gembounds tumbled in the waves, knocked off their feet. Barnett's brow furrowed in worry as Leon's cub was unsettled, but thankfully her father was there to help, and the numbat settled back, clutching Ghanyarah with tiny nails, coasting while his party's makeshift boat did his best to stay atop the surge. Thankfully, they both settled back onto solid ground, Barnett steady, attempting to keep Diot and Eve safe as well.

Either way, it seemed the monitor was heading on, and with him his passengers.

RE: Quest: Wharrgarbl! - Jack - Jan 03 2016

There was a lot of noise coming from this tunnel. Confused and curious, the pup made his way into the tunnel, only to hear the cries of confused animals as a giant monster of a wave towered above them and crashed through the walls. Eyes winding, his ears flattened against his skull at the complete chaos. So many creatures! He'd never seen so many before! Quickly, he attempted to jump onto a rock to avoid drowning as the surge came upon him now.\

Yes! He watched as the water rushed passed him carrying away the not so fortunate lesser gembounds as they got washed away with the current. Making his way towards the group, he was curious to see where this was actually going to go.

not claiming Magicka as this post was only to get him into the quest <3
