RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Mar 07 2018 Winter nodded enthusiastically. Yes, this was a good idea. There weren't many ideas, but this was surely a good one. "Yes, lets do that!" She immediately started tasting the air and quickly found the scent of warm, wet soil nearby. She gingerly picked up her pearl in her mouth and took it in the direction that the scent was coming from. It didn't take long to find a nice sized patch of soft, foamy soil not far from the Spire. She set her pearl down and turned to Kielo "This looks good! Could you bury them? I'm, haha, not sure that I really can." For what seemed like the hundredth time, she felt a streak of anger for her inability to do a lot of things. Being a snake sucked sometimes. But she knew better then to let the stream of thoughts go out of control - Kielo would get worried, knowing her thoughts and all. So she quickly quenched the feeling and pushed the pearl towards her friend. "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 07 2018 The hybrid's wings trembled with pride as Winter's enthusiasm for their idea rubbed off on them. They perked to the feeling of concentration, then Kielo sniffled at the air as Winter did, but was cut off by the sound of Winter slithering away. They picked up the pearl at their paws in their soft lips, and padded after the sound, sniffing to follow her scent. When she called out to them, Kielo picked up the pace and trotted the final few metres, safe in the knowledge that they knew her precise location. The hybrid gently placed their pearl beside her, unsure of where she'd put down her own. "Okay! I'm sure we could figure out a way, though, if you really wanted to," they said kindly, though a little guiltily, padding in a slowcircle around Winter until they'd felt the best patch of soil, soft and slightly moist. Then they used their soft, pink talons to sift through the dirt, the soft material giving way easily to their digging. It didn't take long for them to dig a shallow hole, and promptly returned to Winter to start sniffing for their pearl. They picked it up and returned to the hole, feeling around a little before carefully placing the object at the bottom. They sat back to allow Winter to do the same. _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Well, perhaps it was their blindness that helped them not care one bit about her being a snake. That was the thing that Winter could never get over and probably will never get over. But Kielo made it easier to accept sometimes. She believed in her, gave her the hope that she could do as much as everyone else. This time she didn't try to stop the feelings and thoughts from merging with Kielo's. In a way, she wanted her to know, but could never bring the courage to tell her. This was a good opportunity. Starting to feel hot, she turned to her pearl and nudged it forward to the hole that Kielo had dug out. She carefully pushed it into the hole before turning to the pile of dirt. "Well, we should probably cover them then." She set to work meticulously pushing small bits of dirt with her narrow head over her hole. It would be easy for Kielo, able to just swipe the dirt back into the hole, but it took Winter quite a while, pushing small piles at a time until, finally, everything was in and her head was covered with damp earth. "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Previous Game Master Moonlit - Mar 10 2018
The flower cores were buried, their candle-like glow soon hidden from sight. The pair of watching creatures wouldn't have to wait long before the earth trembled softly. Before their very eyes, two tiny shoots emerged from the upturned earth, which was both moist and nutrient-rich enough to host them. The shoots continued to climb to a height of around 3cm tall, before entwining with one another so that the two stems became one. They continued to grow, curling around one another, until the two stems became one. Trailing petals formed, uncurling from the flower's stem- some a rich lilac, and others pale, and slightly transparent.
When the growth slowed, the magic culminated into two identical flower buds, which grew, and changed, until finally the petals peeled back from a newly-awakened opalescent core. the flowers exuded a scent that was sweet and rich, almost overpowering with the two of them there, rather than the one, but lovely nontheless. It was the same flowers that had crumbled before Kielo and Winter, a short while ago. And yet somehow, each seemed more complete with the two entwined together. When the petals opened from the flowers, the presence faded from the Gembounds' minds- their combined emotions fading into that of one beast. But before Winter and Kielo drifted apart, there was another feeling- fleeting and alien, but unmistakably one of warm gratitude. @Kielo @Winter RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 11 2018 Kielo nodded at Winter's words, but by the time they'd felt their way over to her, her task seemed to be almost finished. they snuffled at the covered-up hole, and patted the soft earth firm, and then sat back on their haunches. "What should we do now?" they asked, falling silent to perk their ears to a faint sound from the earth beyond Winter. "Is something happening?" The hybrid's feathers ruffled excitedly, and they pricked their ears, raising their nose and sniffing at the air. After a few long minutes, the hybrid caught the wisp of a scent, familiar and enticing, and one that sent a ripple of joy through their fur. "That's the scent," they breathed. "The one that I followed to the flower." A gentle feeling of gratitude washed over them, and they beamed brightly. The feeling filled them with joy; if that was how Winter felt, then something must have happened. Right? Their heart swelled with pride; as the feeling faded, it took them a while to notice the lonely feeling of having one consciousness again. "Winter?" they asked uncertainly. _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this. tags: @Winter notes: here RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Winter - Mar 11 2018 Winter watched the flower bloom with wonder. She recognized the wispy blue of her own flower and realized that the violet was probably what Kielo had picked up. "It's growing," she breathed. "There's two flowers, but they're becoming one. Half of it is wispy and barely there and the other is a striking purple. It's...its our flowers merging into a single flower." Once it had stopped growing, she felt the presence of Kielo's mind recede and she almost fought for it to come back. She realized that she enjoyed having someone close in that way, sharing thoughts and feelings with. It felt more natural, more expressive to her then words or actions ever did. But she let it go, knowing that they could never have kept it forever. She sighed as the gratitude washed over her and felt a twinge of curiosity. She wanted to know what these flowers were, what they are, and what that strange alien presence was. "Yeah, that's the same one I followed too. I...I wonder what this is?" She didn't like using magic, but she thought that this would be an appropriate time. "I'm going to try and found out what just happened." She wasn't sure what was going to happen, if she was just going to get visions or the past fear minutes, or if there was something else to see. Either way, she slid forward and delicately touched her nose to the flower, eager to let the magic that she so disliked flower. "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." There would be no visions responding to Winter's cast; only feelings. Enroaching darkness pressing in from all sides. Of cool air washing around trailing leaves; and yet, more powerfully than anything, there's a feeling of yearning. A want, a need, to be with something beyond conscious emotion, and the feeling of being incomplete, only one half of a whole.
@Winter @Kielo
Then there was another feeling, one of hope, and Winter would find herself reliving a fleeting visage of her and Kielo's emotions, intertwined as though they were one being. Then, the feeling of warmth like that of a blanket, soothing and lulling, the wonderful feeling of earth that was moist and soft, and more perfect still, with the feeling of being whole again. A powerful feeling then- joy, if a plant could feel joy, and love. Completeness was the best word that could describe it. The two flowers had achieved what they'd grown to do, and now they were at peace. In perfect calm they would exist here, for the rest of eternity. RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 18 2018 The hybrid let out a gasp, flaring their wings in astonishment at Winter's words, the feathers on their head perking along with their ears. they trilled excitedly, a grin spreading across their face. "I... I don't know what my flower was like, but I remember yours. I don't think I'll ever forget that," unmistakable sorrow trickled into the hybrid's voice for a moment as the flash of Winter's vision once more rose in their mind, and they winced visibly, feathers falling back into place. They forced themselves to perk up as the snake wondered aloud, hoping that she hadn't noticed their momentary lapse. As wonderful as the vision had been, there was nothing that could be done. And besides, they hadn't lost anything; they just knew what it was like, now. "I... I don't know, Winter. Have you ever seen normal flowers do this?" They nodded as winter said she was going to try and find out what happened, then tilted their head slightly to one side. "How?" they asked, voice full of excited curiosity. They'd never known Winter use magic before. They didn't even know that she had it, and they'd never been able to use magic themselves. _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." She didn't understand, but now that she had experienced this, she didn't need to understand. The flower had been created whole and would be here forever, a beacon of love and unity. She sighed softly and pulled herself back, looking at the flower with affection in her gaze. She turned to Kielo and pushed herself against their leg, content and happy. "I don't use magic, usually, but I can glance into the past of an object. This flower...it was alone and sad. We brought it together, made it whole. It's perfect now and will stay here for eternity." She took a moment just to enjoy this feeling, letting the memory of their connection slowly wash itself to the back of her mind before she backed away and took a deep breath. "Well," she began, her voice no longer shaking with emotion, "we said we would travel together. Are you ready to go? To leave Polaris?" "And still I feel I said too much." "My silence is my self defense." Tags: @Kielo Notes: RE: Floral Frivolity! (Polaris) - Kielo - Mar 18 2018 Kielo listened, their ears perked. Her words caused their eyes to light up with joy, and that expression alone would probably be enough. They smiled, closing their eyes. "So, I really didn't hurt the flower," they said, their voice light with relief and joy. "It just wanted a friend. Do you think it knew that we'd take them to be together?" They lowered their nose and licked part of winter's scaly hide as they felt her brushing against them, smiling broadly, all traces of sorrow washed away in the relief of knowing that they'd managed to help something find happiness. Kielo gave a nod as the cobra asked if it was time for them to leave, although the thought sent the feathers along their back prickling with anticipation. "It's gonna be pretty weird leaving Polaris," they admitted with a nervous smile. "But it'll be okay, because we'll be together. You can show me your favourite places, and I know how to find my way around better now, too. It's gonna be fun learning to explore all the new places and all the new smells- all the new people, too!" They let out a deep breath. "So... yeah, I'm ready!" _________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this. tags: @Winter notes: here |
