RE: burst and decay - Jaysong - Mar 11 2019
Jay began to fall still again-- it turned out that flailing took a lot of energy out of you --but when she saw a pale paw moving for her throat, panic rose in her chest. Instinct told her-- bluntly --to get away from there. The black cat didn't hesitate nor argue against it, turning to push herself roughly against the cave floor to try to roll over to avoid the paw making contact with her white throat. She was, however, too slow. The burly kitten felt a paw going into her neck and she began spitting and flailing anew, preparing to make attempts for attacking again. Round: 7 Attempt: Dodge That Shit Defense: None Injuries: Ouchy head, ouchy chin, ouchy back, ouchy eye RE: burst and decay - Palefur - Mar 11 2019 With her paw now firmly on Jay's throat, Pale had a feeling she was going to win. With Jay no longer flailing around, she tried to move forward to pin her down more firmly, her other paw on her shoulder maybe, though Jay was bigger then her. She found that the grip was awkward and made it more difficult for her to hold onto Jay's throat so she backed off and instead focused on holding her paw where it already was. Attempt: hold her down more ig Defense: none Injuries: ow my back @Jaysong RE: burst and decay - Jaysong - Mar 11 2019
Submit, Pale said. Submit. No. Jay's hind legs flung forward, launching into Pale's underbelly in an attempt to throw her off her throat, twisting around at the same time to try to scramble away from the other kitten, least she manage to get caught under the smaller cat's paws again. The black cat refused to let herself be caught in there again. Refused. Round: 8 Attempt: uhh... Defense: None Injuries: Ouchy head, ouchy chin, ouchy back, ouchy eye RE: burst and decay - Palefur - Mar 11 2019 But Jay didn't seem to want to do the smart thing. Even though she had her down, had her pinned, the black kitten still fought. Didn't say a word. Pale frowned. That was foolish. Anyone could tell that she had the fight in the bag by now. Attempt: keep on holding Defense: none Injuries: ow my back @Jaysong RE: burst and decay - Jaysong - Mar 11 2019 (I DID IT AGAIN I'M REALLY SORRY)
No. The word wasn't said out loud but the defiance itself flashed in her eyes. If hind legs alone weren't going to throw Pale off her, then she'd have to try to use all four. Reaching Pale's shoulders was out of the question-- she'd risk choking if she tried it, and now that Pale had both paws on her own shoulders, her entire underbelly and chest was exposed to her. All four of her paws shot upwards to Palefur's gut and chest, half-attempting to wind her, weaken her, and half-attempting to, again, throw her off her. This came with a stubborn, furious yowl. Round: 9 Attempt: Throw Pale off her Defense: None Injuries: Ouchy head, ouchy chin, ouchy back, ouchy eye @palefur RE: burst and decay - Palefur - Mar 11 2019 She really did think that Jay was going to submit or at least give up the victory, so her sudden paws against her gut were surprising. She was thrown off with a yowl of surprise and flopped to the ground where she was left on her back. She was winded for a moment before she stumbled back to her feet, taking a moment, again, to shake out the dust and rocks from her fur. RE: burst and decay - Jaysong - Mar 11 2019
Jay scrambled up back onto her paws again, shuddering, ruffling her fur out and preparing to lunge back onto Pale-- but Pale was sitting down and speaking, grooming as though nothing happened. Something in Jay's paws told her to keep going, that it wasn't over until Pale admitted defeat, but something else-- perhaps something very logical --told her to let it go. That it was just a spar. There'd be other victories. It didn't make the kitten feel any less restless. She shifted, slowly, and then began to lick specks of dirt off her chest. "Thank you," she murmured, shaking her fur out a second time. There was another pause-- longer, this time. Thoughtful. "I'm going to hunt," she declared, turning. Not because she was particularly hungry, however-- she felt as though she had to sink her teeth into something before she should shrug the restlessness off and find what she was meant to do with.... everything. How old are you meant to be before you have an existential crisis, anyway? RE: burst and decay - Palefur - Mar 11 2019 Pale did not feel the same kind of restlessness as Jay and so when Jay turned to go and hunt, Pale simply nodded. She didn't offer to go with her, but she did open her senses, just a bit, to find Jay a place to hunt. There were heartbeats not far away and she angled her ears in the direction of the sound. RE: burst and decay - Jaysong - Mar 11 2019
Jay offered not much more than a gentle grunt as she padded away, deeper into the caves, in the general direction that Pale had pointed to. Although she appreciated the help she wanted to hunt for herself, without relying on another to point her in the right direction. She wanted to get good at it. She used her nose more than she used her eyes, sniffing out mice and being as quiet as possible as she crept up behind them. Several times during her hunt she either missed, or the mouse she was stalking behind skittered off elsewhere, but several times she also caught something. And she ate. Far more than she should have. She'd just finished her third catch when she felt weariness finally grip her shoulders, and a bellyache churn in her stomach. So, quietly, Jay found somewhere to lay down and rest her head on the cave floor, eyes slowly sinking shut.
