RE: A reactivation post - Yuma - Nov 17 2016

I lay here hidden, concealed away as one by one the lives around me fade into the mist. The caves echo in silence, its inhabitants gone mute. It came upon us so suddenly; this cave teeming with life, with community, with action... like a fire quenched by tears it became no more.

I was born in Pisces, where the waters now flow past the comatose forms of those who might have been friends. Now they stand still amidst the mist, life drained from their eyes like mannequins. I have glimpsed into Cetus but could go no further, for the choking fog was so thick I feared it might reach out to strangle even me.

The vibrant room of Polaris pulses weakly as the silence reaches even this far. The very life-blood of the caves seems to have gone dormant. What forces there might have been to keep the arcane generator stable are nowhere to be seen. Therefore I flee once again, further into the caves.

The fog is thinner here, but the collapse of will is just as strong. I see gembounds lying amidst the ruins, reduced like the others to lifeless facsimiles of their old selves. They could not have built the ruins, yet it is plain to see where the crumbling structures came from. This condition, this plague which I have barely avoided, it has been seen before. Those who built the ruins must have witnessed it too. Where are those people? Was the loss of identity just the first part in the process? Are we but pawns of destiny, fated to die in these caves due to forces outside our control?

I run away, as fast as my small body will carry me, not for fear of what is to come but for curiosity driving me to see this cave to the end. I go from cavern to cavern, following the walls and even venturing into the deadly room of mist. Nothing, there is no escape. we are all stuck here in a world whose life is draining away. There is nothing to be done but to wait and hope for the best.

So here I hide among the bones of those who have died before me. If it is a spectre that haunts us I will be a spectre to frighten it away. If all the world is reduced to the state of ash I will survive. Here I hide, waiting for the day that it is once more safe to act as one of the living.

EDIT: Whoops; broke form. I mean "screech"
