Blackwing was tired. All three of the heads were just... exhausted.
Constant fighting, dreams they wanted to achieve but never could because of the others. It was a mess.
"... I hate you,", said Luci, turned away from the other two, ears pinned and eyes closed.
"... I love you,", Koi said softly, her heart broken.
"I'm sorry,", said Hellfire, not feeling at all like his name. He wasn't big and bad, he wasn't even big and good. Or anything.
Just a triplet of mistakes.
Hellfire made the decision, ultimately. He walked them into a small hole within Orion and crawled into it, scuffling on his belly before he was able to curl up comfortably.
"... Good night,", he said softly, closing his eyes, neither head responding. Too torn apart too. Perhaps when they woke up, they'd be reformed.
Their chrysalis rose up around them as they slept, slowly but surely engulfing them in black and red. Maybe... just maybe they'd be different. Somehow they'd be able to be more, to get along, to have a purpose.
Maybe.
