[DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Faceless - Jul 17 2021 'AND NOW WE HAVE... uhh... hm. No name, but we can work with that--THE SMILING HORRORBEAST! RIP EACH OTHER APART, AND MAKE IT A GOOD SHOW!' If Faceless had had no idea what was going on at the beginning, it sure did now. After watching a couple of rather bloody fights, it was pretty sure it had a good idea of what it was supposed to do. You ate their food, you fought for their entertainment. Simple, really. That didn't mean it wasn't nervous, though. Some of those fighters were much bigger than it--most fighters, actually, seeing as it was still only a bit bigger than a German Shepherd dog. But it was also afraid to run away. What if it was seen? Things were so crowded here, and it had already eaten the food. It supposed things weren't as bad as they could be. It was guaranteed food, after all, and it didn't even have to win the fights if it'd already eaten beforehand. (Though it hoped it'd win, just for survival's sake.) Sure beat waiting for hours to ambush an unwary rabbit. It scuttled from backstage, climbing a few feet up on the gate, ready to drop down on Hunter when he got close. Why waste energy charging an opponent when you could wait for them to come to you? This matchup wasn't so bad, it decided. Hunter wasn't that much bigger than it. It could do this. @Hunter RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Hunter - Jul 17 2021 Hunter was under the impression this was just the Olympic Wrestling Competition on steroids, and last time had been so fun that, well, he wanted to give it a shot. Besides, after the adventure with his family, he was feeling a bit... spicier than usual. There was a new... spark, one might say. Literally, hehe-- Was that strange fairy talking about him? Oh, he was Hunter, after all! Uh, he should probably get out there, shouldn't he? Hunter scrambled out of the door, clutching his spear in his paws tight. There were more flashing lights and pounding bass than in the last Wrestling match, and it was all a touch overwhelming. Still, Hunter had fought a big kaiju beast and a massive kraken before, so whatever monster-- ... uh... What... was that? Hunter blinked as he spotted the creature lurking on top of the gate he had just passed through. He stared at the strange, dog-sized beast of quills and teeth and tendrils, trying to make sense of the form before him. "Uh, hi?" RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Faceless - Jul 18 2021 Faceless didn't know any words, but it sure picked up on patterns quickly. Consider the following: 1. Nemean yells something. 2. Someone goes out the door. 3. Nemean yells something else. 4. Someone else goes out the door. 5. They fight. There is lots of blood. Accurate, no? And by its calculations, it was about time to execute step five. The optimal outcome, of course, being that the blood would be its opponent's. Faceless barely even processed Hunter's spear, or the words he'd said in greeting. There was simply too little time--it was operating on pure predator's reflex. As soon as it saw movement, Hunter emerging from the gateway, it would rip open all three sets of jaws and drop down on the hybrid. Can't hurt me if I tear it apart first. This was its logic, and it seemed quite sound. How unfortunate that it missed, then. It was a lot harder to tear someone apart when instead of landing on your target, you landed in the dirt. Generally speaking, it is neither pleasant nor effective to chew on dirt with three mouths at once. Faceless spat and spun to face Hunter in a crouch. There went its plan. @Hunter ROUND 1/? 100% ATTEMPT: drop down on hunter and just start biting
DEFENSE: uh... spiky teeth? INJURIES: none yet RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Hunter - Jul 20 2021 The thing dropped from the doorway, and even if it had been aiming to hit Hunter, for all the humanoid-fisher hybrid knew as he quickly backed away, that was only a prelude to its actual, well, attack. Hunter wasn't really sure what to do with the thing with several, gaping maws that seemed like they could tear him to literal, bite-sized chunks and swallow the entirity of him whole anyway like some sort of demonic snake, but he had a pretty solid idea of what he could try. He liked his idea a lot. Keep exactly a spear-length between them and jab at the creature that... had not answered him when he said hello, nor particularly looked like it understood what he had said either. This was a battle, after all, so uh... Better start poking? He leveled his spear at Faceless, settling into a practiced battle stance that probably didn't have any actual benefit to it other than looking like he knew what he was doing, and thrust forward at the thing like a child poking at a weird worm with a particularly pointy stick. ROUND 1/5
ATTEMPT: Poke Faceless with his spear
DEFENSE: Staying a pole-length back from the thing with too many teeth, having a FULL CHARGE of electricity stored in his zappy glands INJURIES: Looking alright! RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Faceless - Jul 20 2021 Faceless jerked away from Hunter's spearpoint, hissing. It didn't particularly want to do its usual leap-and-maul when there was a possibility that its opponent could simply impale it midair (in the mouth, too! How painful would that be?), and so it quickly decided that it needed to get rid of the impalement implement first. Scurrying forward on its hind legs, its mantis-arms snapped out to reach for the shaft of Hunter's spear, aiming to jerk it from his grip and cast the weapon behind it. None of this was very bloody yet, which made it anxious. It knew what happened when there wasn't enough blood: the little yelling fairy would call for its 'bestie' (bestie being one of approximately four words Faceless recognized, the other three being 'like', 'totally', and 'awesome'), and then they'd probably both die horribly if they couldn't get out of the way. But it couldn't be helped. It had to get this out of the way before it could get on with the mauling and bloodletting. @Hunter Round 2: Attempt: disarm Hunter Defense: no Injuries: no RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Attikias - Jul 20 2021 Attikias wouldn't miss this battle for the world. Sure, Selenite-One and Erebos were both fighting, too- and he'd attend both of those, but Hunter?
Hunter was someone who actually lived with him. His daughter, that he actually raised. Comparatively, the other two were part of the Forge, raised in truth by... Whoever raised people there. Maybe he should ask about that next time he stopped by. But. Hunter. Attikias had a drink sat on the seat next to him, but that soon spilled when Attikias stood up and flared out his arms. Some tiny, small part of him wanted to join in with the cries for blood, too- but not for Hunter. No. For now, he'd shout his praises, ready to support his daughter in the arena in any way he could. RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Ascent - Jul 22 2021
Huh. Two family members were here for this one. The bird-dragon flapped their wings to hover slightly higher, a corn dog clutched delicately in their crab-arm. (As much as Ascent was disgusted with most everyone's messy eating habits and how much they littered, they did get hungry themselves.)
So much blood had been shed already, including a real death for the poor overconfident bird. They had never interfered--they were only here to watch and witness, and everyone had chosen to sign up-but the sheer callousness of everyone involved sickened them. It was good to know, they supposed, that such people existed in the world. Ascent was hopeful, however, that there'd be no dying this round. For one, Hunter was family, and they sure hoped no one in the Elenya Clan got killed. Fairly confident that Hunter wouldn't go for permanent death, they noted, vice-grip on the corn dog tightening as the dog-sized monster leapt for Hunter's spear. Not sure if I can say the same about the other... RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Game Master Dark - Jul 23 2021 Ugh, what were they doing?! One was maneuvering sort of like a child poking with a stick; neither of them were... connecting, really.
Time to spice things up a bit! "BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!" Nemean screamed, and smashed her tiny hands together. An enormous rain of black and red glitter burst into being high above the arena, drifting slowly down, settling across the dust and around the fighters. It was shiny glitter. The annoying sort of glitter. The kind that would get everywhere, and stay everywhere. The kind that the winner'd be finding in toes and fur for years to come. She leaned forward, slapping hands on the golem's head: "YOU CAN START NOW!" she screamed, before breaking into laughter. Fuck, she was hilarious. RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Hunter - Jul 24 2021 Hunter had half a thought to let go of his spear, because, uh, well, when something that aggressive wanted your stick, sometimes it was better to let them have it-- but, his father's voice rang out above the crowd, and in the young girl's heart something tightened with resolve. No way was he going to give up his advantage! Gritting his teeth, he held on with everything he had, and tried to shake the spear, to dislodge it from Faceless's mantis-limbed grip, but the struggle lasted for only a seconds when it felt like minutes-- His hands maybe were too slick with sweat, or nerves, or maybe he just wasn't holding it right, and with a FWIP! it went soaring behind the creature with too many mouths and teeths. Hunter gulped, hands held in front of him, and though he had a mouth full of his own teeth and claws flexing out of his fingers, he wasn't sure this was going to end well for him at all. It was at that moment that Nemean screamed for blood, and the rain of glitter cascaded down all over the battlefield. Blinking rapidly, he tried not to get any of it in his eyes. This was bad, really, really, very, terribly bad. ROUND 2/5
ATTEMPT: Shake Faceless off of his spear without letting go!
DEFENSE: Standing with his arms out in front of him like they're gonna keep this thing from mauling him to death-- AND! having a FULL CHARGE of electricity stored in his zappy glands INJURIES: Looking alright! RE: [DEATHMATCH] Faceless vs. Hunter - Faceless - Jul 25 2021 Faceless flinched at Nemean's cry for blood, jerking its head back with new desperation. Thank god it hadn't caught the word 'bestie' yet, but if Nemean was yelling it couldn't be far off. It had to get a move on. The spear went sailing over its shoulder as edgy glitter rained down on the two fighters, and without further hesitation it leaped. Three pairs of jaws ripped open in midair, turning the greater part of its entire body into gaping maws and rows and rows of shearing teeth. If it landed a bite, the electricity surging through its body would seize all its muscles, scorching its mouth where it made contact and rendering it unable to let go. If not... perhaps that would be better for its health in the short term, though the threat of Draconua loomed over all their heads. @Hunter left it up to you whether it hits or whether you wanna dodge! ROUND 3/? #% ATTEMPT: land on Hunter and start mauling
DEFENSE: many pointy bits INJURIES: mayhaps |
