[DEATHMATCH] Ultraviolet vs Terror (ULTRAVIOLENCE) - Terror - Jul 26 2021

The arena smells like blood, and death.

It can tell its match is not the first today. Nor will it be the last. So much blood spilt here—more than Terror has seen in a single lifetime, even with the City and the Kraken. It was only a single opponent, there, and the green shade blood took on deep beneath the waves blended with the darkness of the depths.

The water is its home, its element, where it lives and will die, but it can admit... there's a certain beauty to the hue gore takes against sand.

A voice shrieks from up above. "AND UP NEXT! THE TERROR OF THE DEPTHS!"

Its ears twitch to lay flat against its skull, Terror sneering. Oh, but it would take that damn fairy in its mouth and crush her if it could. Too loud. Too raucous. Too annoying.

Luckily there's another opponent to take its anger out on. It flicks its ears forward and pads leisurely out of the gate, head held high and tentacles writhing to stand upright to frame its face. Jellyfish tendrils sprout from its lower back and trail behind it like a bustle; cyan light ripples in stripes across its dark form. It holds itself for all the world like royalty. Poised and perfect, like all the world is beneath it. An eldritch empress.

It tilts its head and shoots a grin across the arena, its many maws baring teeth in a calculating smile. Who has come here to be mauled?

I'll be watching, Elayne had said to the cadence of "good luck" without saying so. He expected to see her above, perhaps, but those were the last words she had said before she had disappeared, leaving him alone in the backroom among strangers. His pelt had remained pitch violet as he skulked about, sniffing at the strange foods offered.

He had settled down, feeling exhaustion wash over him once more, and had almost settled into a cat nap when the voice that rang out called his name.

"AND THE CHALLENGER: THE DISPOSER OF LIGHT BOTH HOLY AND SACRILEGIOUS, ULTRAVIOLET!" Disposer, displacer, what was the difference, anyway? It sounded flashy enough. Uvio stretched, wincing a bit, and made his way toward the gate, fur prickling with every step. He blinked away the sleep from his four dark eyes as he stepped out into a ring that was too bright for his corrupted-nature with a growl rising in his throat.

The thing that he faced when he walked out looked like something from his dreams. From the nightmares. From his own two-time-witnessed death.

It had tendrils and mouths and the stench of blood under foot nearly made his mind slip out of reality entirely, but his growl turned into a rough, choking laugh. Oh, this was it. This was where his faith would be challenged, wasn't it...? Well, he couldn't very well run away, no. He was going to embrace it, and as Terror flashed its thousand neon colored stripes, Uvio's pelt flashed a violent gold and fuchsia in return in thousands of warning spots.

Teeth bared, back arching, the feline crept forward with claws at the ready. Would it lunge? He had faced death. He was not afraid of the war he had dreamed of. No, if anything, he was excited.

It takes a moment to size its opponent up. The titles the fairy bestows upon the competitors mean nothing to it; it's been watching a few of the fights, lingering in the back of the stands. Creatures both mighty and pathetic have been painted with the same grandiose brush—her words are no measure of the competition.

Instead it takes in its opponent's size, his shape, his strength. The catlike beast that stands before it is smaller in height, but about the same length; built lithely in contrast to its own brutal strength. Faster, most likely. He bears bioluminescence upon his skin just like it does, eliciting within Terror a feeling of pleasant surprise. It had expected to be paired with common prey, upon volunteering for this bloodbath, but many of the competitors here are far from such, including its own opponent. Smaller as he may be, he is still of monstrous shape. He is still kin to it, if not by gem.

And he stands with stoic courage; not wavering nor backing down, and as he begins to advance with arched back and bared teeth, a laugh peels from between his teeth.

Terror's grins stretch ever farther.

This will be a good match.

Without warning, it throws itself forward; head bowed to meet his advance, all its weight used as an impromptu battering ram.

RE: [DEATHMATCH] Ultraviolet vs Terror (ULTRAVIOLENCE) - Karambit - Aug 03 2021

Fracture my spine
"Terrrrorrrr! Tearrrrr 'emmmm!"

This wasn't the first match that a version of this cry had blessed, and it'd possibly not be the last, but thankfully after a long and painful while of Karambit screeching its support at the sandy battlefield, the words had finally been delivered to the correct one. It could be surmised that the multiple errors before could have been out of impatience or ignorance, but the truth was far more simple and cloying: the insect sibling's devotion to its family was so overflowing that it could not be contained to polite shrieks at a designated time. No matter accomplishments or failures or breaks in between, it'd make itself known through them all, a grotesque guardian spewing praise from above.

"Rrrrrrriiiiip!" it buzzed from the stands. "Slash!"

Then an almost meek request followed, attention having just shifted from Terror to its opponent. "Skin the prrrreeeety? Pleassssse?"

As could be expected of by its obsession with gore, the bright and ugly garnered equal amounts of adoration from Karambit. The bioluminescent feline possessed a brilliant display of the former, and although it could always enjoy scratching patches of flesh off a closer source during a rousing family play session, owning an entire beautiful canvas harvested from a non-relative would bring such wonder and delight.
And swear that you're mine

The crowd rose into a roar as the scent of death filled every single sense in the feline, teeth bared and clattering at his foe. It was like stepping from one reality into another: one moment he was in a blinding arena filled with the cries of eager spectators, the next, his paws stepped into oil-slick quicksand and the edges of his vision darkened, narrowing down on to his foe. The sensation of limbs reached up from the ocean of sucking, hungry gore under toe grasped and pulled at his legs, weighing him down. Uvio hissed, forcing himself forward toward the thing with a thousand teeth and eyes and reeking of meat.

He did not get very far, in his slow, arched and slinking approach. The amalgamation broke into a gallop, head lowered into a charge, and the mess of meat slammed into Uvio before he had even fully processed that the thing had started to move.

The jarring slam was enough to set every nerve on fire, as a burst of scorching flesh and viscera shoved its way down his open, gasping maw, enough to choke on. The taste was foul and yet holy, but the desperate, animistic need to breathe fought against his own hunger. He spat out rotten oil from his own lungs as his body twisted, claws outstretched on four of six limbs. Desperate and furious, with every ounce of energy that he didn't have, Uvio tried to claw at the meat that surrounded him, that he was gagging on. His tail flailed, tendril barbs whipping around to strike what his claws could not reach, until he was a whirlwind of shredding appendages.

Unfortunately for Ultraviolet, and quite fortunately for the meat-beast that was his foe would find that his blind scrambling struck out at things that did not exist, tearing more into the earth underneath the combatants.

ROUND 1/5
ATTEMPT: Shred his opponent with claws and tentacle barbs
DEFENSE: Fur puffed up, middle legs protecting stomach, flashing bright distracting colors

Impact.

Fleshy body slams against its opponent—knocking the cat-creature to the ground. A raucous voice cries out over the battlefield—a thrill of excitement spikes down Terror's spine as it recognizes the voice as one of its' siblings, another set of grins splitting its maws. Karambit!

Anything for it. Anything for its siblings—especially if it's something it already enjoys doing.

For its family, it would tear apart a thousand cats. Would drown the world in blood and gore for it.

The cat flails and strikes blindly, but the actions are futile; a mess of flailing limbs, all striking for air. It would laugh if it wasn't well aware that any moment the cat could right itself and strike true—it holds the low chuckle that threatens to ring through its body in and pounces for its opponent's prone form.

It aims low, jaws snapping and twisting, trying to catch at what little of Ultraviolet's back was exposed, away from four sets of swiping claws and directly at exposed flesh. One after the other—a flurry of snarling teeth, all desperate for blood.

Uvio writhed, twisting and flailing with a lashing of limbs that struck at non-existent enemies, rather than his foe of a dozen maws filled to the brim with canine teeth. A yowl ripped from his throat like a half-drowned beast as he threw himself to one side, rolling through a marsh of grasping fingers and hungry, pleading eyes. He was able, frenzied and panicked, to get away from Terror's snapping teeth in an attempt for flee from all of the jaws that snapped in chorus. Gunfire, explosions, roared above the din and stunned his senses, as flashes of movement confused the feline further. His claws fully extended and scrambling against the floor of the arena, his body shook with adrenaline.

It was either kill or be killed, but it felt more like consume or be consumed, and Uvio's rising hunger made his insides feel as though they were devouring him from the inside out. Another hiss spat out from between his teeth, and though he had twisted away from the infinite wave of foes that bore down on him, for an instant he thought he picked out Terror from the writhing mass of limbs, teeth, claw, and gore that sloshed about him in waves.

Fear would be a healthy thing to feel in such a circumstance, but as a numb clarity washed through the tendriled beast, he found the only thing he felt along side his starvation was fury. Devoted, passionate, unyielding fury. Perhaps the cat should have continued to back off, to play it safe against an opponent that maybe he could outreach with his tail... But the demands of a higher being ran through his oil-slicked veins, and Uvio lunged forward again, this time with two sets of claws reaching forward to strike and maim whatever they could reach.

ROUND 2/5
ATTEMPT: Leaping forward to attack with front and middle limbs

RE: [DEATHMATCH] Ultraviolet vs Terror (ULTRAVIOLENCE) - Terror - Aug 20 2021

He flails and snaps and shivers; for all the world the perfect picture of poisoned prey, and yet with the flashing lights and the flailing tendrils it all works in his favor, as he rolls away and twists and strikes at air and its own snapping jaws find a meal of empty atmosphere.

A snarl rips from slavering jaws as it takes a couple steps back, watching the not-cat roll to his feet in the sand, trembling like a leaf in the wind. But is it all an act…? Or is there simply a strange power to his madness; to the constant strikes at seemingly nothing.

It cannot tell. It, frankly, does not care. There is only one thing in front of it, and that is prey, and it will rip its guts out into the sand if it has to bleed out with it.

There is one thing they have in common, besides their monstrous bodies. Fury. A kind of familiar rage that Terror can see written all through its expression, in the lift of the lips and the baring of teeth, and with its opponent's apparent weakness the lunge is still so startlingly quick that it doesn't even think to dodge before fishhooks are being sunk into its skin.

First blood, but it isn't his—claws rent its flesh and Terror howls, a thing of equal parts rage, pain, and pure thrill, thrill of the hunt, thrill of the fight, thrill of clashing snarling snapping with someone that is not prey but beast

—and it is all too happy to meet him with its own vicious offense. Its wounds open from a trickle to a waterfall, but Terror doesn't care about the pain; doesn't care about anything but blood, blood, blood. As claws sink into its chest and flesh parts and tears and burns like flame with hurt, Terror twists its body sideways to swing new tendrils into its opponent, aiming stinging cnidocytes nestled within white tentacles for those rending paws—aiming to fill limbs with toxin.

ROUND 3/5
ATTEMPT: cripple; no more limb rights
DEFENSE: N/A, the only stat we care about is lowering the enemy's health stat to zero
INJURIES: large gashes down chest
(yes i removed the health bar because i realized i can't quite quantify that ssh—)

Sudden, blinding pain strikes at one of Ultraviolet's legs, one of the middle limbs. One moment, he is tearing through the mountain of flesh that make up the battlefield of war, the next, he is twisting away with a roaring hiss. Teeth clack together as his leg withdraws flat to his ribcage, as liquid fire burns deep through the skin and into the bones.

It feels like something is devouring him from the inside out, but he knows that it is merely his bones being pulled from the flesh, twisted and warped into something new, something stronger. All he can do is bare witness to the transformation that transfixes in the corner of his thoughts as he continues to fight, fight, fight, anything to contribute to the grand cacophony that is chaos's majestic symphony.

The feline drops low and kicks forward with hind feet, pushing his body right into dangerous territory, but his maw opens to an impossibly wide angle as he seeks what lay just beyond their amalgamation of mouths.

There must be a throat-- or throats-- and the daggers of his teeth seek the main artery that can bring down his prey. Perhaps he misjudges, or perhaps Uvio simply does not see the truth of the impossible beast, as instead the snarling cat lunges into the beast's hungry, waiting mouths. In reality, the line in his mind's eye where he ends and Terror begins is a blurred line of destruction.

ROUND 3/5
ATTEMPT: Chomping on whatever counts for a neck on this nasty meat monster
DEFENSE: Fur puffed up, flashing bright distracting colors
INJURIES: Withered, bruised and pinned by impact, crippled middle limb

Little kitty serves himself right on a dinner plate into Terror's jaws.

It can see what he was trying to do with the maneuver, how if it were better-aimed the cat would have been in perfect range for its throat, but—it is not, and his eyes are dilated into little pinpricks, twitching and staring at points that are not quite in Terror's range, and it actually looks down at him in shock for half a second, startled by the sudden vulnerability.

Only for a moment, however, before it snarls something euphoric with bloodlust and lunges for his own throat, ignoring the burning in its chest as the movement stretches torn muscles.

It was a good maneuver, a good attempt, but it fucked up—and now it's Terror's turn to try the same.

It will not fail.
