Delirious Dyes: Swap 'n Shop! - Deli - May 08 2022

Deli
A small stand had popped up against one of the wall of Polaris, just underneath some of the lights so that they illuminated the flat stone surface and the rough plank of wood that had been set up against it. Atop the table were a variety of little bottles in different shapes and sizes holding different colors of liquid. Most were a variety of simple reds and blues and greens while a collection at the back, raised up on small, flat stones held flashy, moving colors - two that were of shimmering metallics, one that glowed a bright gold, one of a dark, thick liquid that looked suspiciously like blood, one that swirled with neon green and pink, and one that was of a rancid olive green and anyone that got too close would smell a horrific odor coming from the flask.

The board set up in front of the stone had a pretty nice painting of a glass vial in white with a rainbow painted within it and arrows making a circle around the outside. Some kind of dye swap store, one could assume. On the floor and on stones nearby were small drawings as well in different matte colors - a skull, a heart, random abstract symbols, and some that looked like they could be stripes or markings. Perhaps an art shop as well?

And behind the stone was Deli, sitting on the ground, leaning against the wall, with their feet kicked up on the edge of their table. They played idly with a little shard of crystal, tossing it in the air to catch it again, a little smirk on their face as they awaited any curious passerbys.

Delirious Dyes is now open! Come on down to get your dyes, help Deli make new ones, or get some permanent markings affixed!

It had left the Wishing Stone satisfied, and full of eager wonder at this new skill it had learned in the span of oh, about five seconds. After living the life of a skittish recluse in Eridanus for cycles on end, perhaps it was finally ready to meet someone new...?

Mm, maybe one step at a time. For now, it decided to start with observing from the shadows. Someone tall and brightly colored was an obvious target for its attention, surrounded by colorful symbols marked on stone. Creeping very sneakily (it thought) from behind a tawny-colored boulder, it stuck out its eerie, pale face and peered out at Deli's Dye Shop.

Perhaps it could practice the tactic it had been taught? Look at the canine creature's face, gauge their expressions and movements to see whether they had benevolent intentions? Faceless squinted. It really couldn't get a good look at their face from this distance. Stretching its neck out comically, it frowned a little, and then began to creep out farther and farther...

They could see the creature out of the corner of their eye, poking a curious head out from behind a rock. They were still idly playing with their stone, but the whole time they'd been casting glances out for approaching gembound. But ah...this one was shy, they figured. Smirk widening ever so slightly, they continued tossing the gemstone, catching it deftly in a paw as they carefully watched from their peripherals what the stranger would do.

And out they came, a very...strange looking thing, but at this point Deli didn't bother to ask. Gembounds, they'd learned, came in all sizes and shapes, some a little stranger then another. And they didn't want to risk insulting a potential customer, eh? They had to continuously remind themselves, as they'd set up their little tattoo stall, that they couldn't just go pranking everyone that approached. What if they wanted to trade or help make new dyes? They very well couldn't have them pissed off at the seller!

They waited until the creature had gotten closer to catch the crystal shard one last time and finally turn their head in its direction. "Howdy!" they called out, waving a paw merrily in their direction. "No need to be afraid! I'm Deli. You lookin for some dyes?"
