blight didn't often come this way.

And for good reason.

While his adopted family tended toward fire or ice, neither was really blight's preference; and this place was, without a doubt, fire. Literally; flames spurted up here and there, lava bubbling beneath treacherous cracks in the tunnel floor.

He stuck, for now, near the Gemini entrance; this place at least was cooler, more humid, and there was life to be found here. It was unusual for him to be away from Leo--away from the fishing and swooping and diving life that he generally led--but sometimes, life called for a little variety.

Mostly, he wanted to see if there was anything good to eat in here. Snatching up fish in Leo was easy pickings, generally, but he'd been craving redder meat; so new he poked through the crystals, flying from point to point before waddling around, searching for any signs of rats or cave deer.

After a few minutes' search he found what he was looking for: a deer neatly hidden, crouched, among the foliage near Gemini's entrance. A spread of his wings, a neat flit, and he'd made a quick kill. Then, he settled in to eat.

When he had finished, he again took wing, content in his fresh meal.
