fainting couch - Aethril - Jun 05 2022

Lights in the other parts of the caves were dimming down for the night when Aethril found herself back in the halls of Cepheus, a wraith stalking the corridors, peering through rooms, searching for her target. It had been a long day of travel; of talking to this and that and looking at whatever, and not once had she taken a moment to recover from her encounter with an Earth animal telling her to go back home.

--okay, that was a lie.

There was a mutilated cave deer in Pegasus who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, who had been denied even the small mercy of a last breath as Aethril evacuated the air from its lungs. The outburst and subsequent murder had calmed her significantly, but it only took the edge off. It didn't matter how much control Aethril had over her magic-- Chaos was Chaos, and Chaos wanted her to twist the head off every opossum she could find.

When Aethril felt these violent urges to sew misfortune where-ever she walked, there were a sparse few people she could rely on to realign herself. With Isra and Eggbert busy, this lead her looking for one of her newer companions-- and when she found her, there was scarcely a moment before the theatrics.

The marbled room was peacefully quiet, in the minutes before the Valkhand crashed through the door. "Akane! Oh, I've had a horrible day," she lamented like a disparged Victorian woman, only just making it to the chaise lounge by the piano before she fell across it delicately but perfectly, in a too-manicured, too-practiced way to be natural.

No, really. This was helping her already.

With a limp-wristed hand, she fanned herself as though she may faint under the non-existant sun. "Oh, you would not believe it..." she continued (woe is her, etc). "I need a long bath."
