Okay, some ideas:
— Mel can't talk, he'll need some other way to communicate.
Morse code with his biolight?
Telepathy magic?
Translator friend who is aquatic or semi-aquatic?
— He's gonna have a hard time surviving versus the many creatures on Lacerta.
Gonna focus on animal magic, techniques, tactics.
Gonna probably have a lot of GM tag threads.
— Dream concept: Some sort of draconic dart frog / shark beast; perhaps mix some seal in there?
Mutate to have poison-laced skin.
Mutate draconic features (tough skin from magic abuse? Consequence? Revival?)
Form some kind of fish family in Fornax/Lacerta and fill the water with hybrids!
