just the two of us - V-Jasper - Jan 26 2023 [ open to any chaos forge that would know where lab's nest is! ] @V-Opal-One :D @v-pallasite-one also! The beests awoke suddenly, a startling gasp from one breathing life into their shared lungs. Tangled limbs kicked and struggled with no coordination, thrashing at the marbled jasper that caged it. Their combined strength-- their shared strength-- formed a crack in the stone, and with it the ichorous embryonic fluid surged forth, gushing into open air, and bringing air into the stone. Another breath, this one half fluid and half oxygen, dazed half of the beest. The air outside was not cold, but the warm wet made even a temperate breeze nip. A cry came from the stunned half, but the other felt the crack it had made, and claws scrabbled at the opening, until with an unceremonious plop, the entangled things tumbled into the grass. Gills flared, gasping at air, and brilliant violet eyes blinked the dappled light of the forest into focus. RE: just the two of us - V-Opal-One - Jan 28 2023 Four pairs of eyes snapped open, the creature within the middle child of the trio- it was its turn to awake. Either stirred to life by its siblings cries, or simply because it knew it was time, it disregarded the dazzling shards of multi-coloured light, or the comforting warmth of the fluid that had wrapped itself around it as it had slept. It wriggled, struck the walls with all six limbs. It did not take long, or much effort, for a crack to form in the opal. Liquid seeped from the opening, and using its hands, the infant pulled itself from its chrysalis. The first thing he did was fall flat on his face (the bottom one), unaccustomed to the weight of its two torsos, letting out a squeak as the air left its lungs. he registered that this might be a sign to take things slow; he did not enjoy hitting the ground. But- Wide eyes blinked, turning to the other creature as it wailed. She did not like seeing it in pain. Her mind was new, no words had formed yet. All she could manage was a toddler's gurgle as she dragged herself towards the Jasper(s), heads low, arms outstretched. She tripped again, hitting the ground with a quiet oof. This one was less severe and she recovered quickly, already close to her destination. It attempted to touch their head with its hands, head tilted downward so it could see them through its upper face. Its expression was wide-eyed, intensely curious. This was part an investigation and reassurance- it did not have words, nor did it understand its sibling, but it still could recognise them as family. @V-Jasper RE: just the two of us - V-Jasper - Jan 31 2023 The Jasper didn't notice the other child with either set of crying heads, continuing their combined song of wailing. It wasn't until the strange hands of another being brushed the cheek of one head that the chorus turned into a solo. Silenced, the head closest to Opal turned, wide purple eyes fixated on the new creature. And so: the two siblings stared, dumbfounded, at one another, while the Jasper's second head continued its whimpering: The head cradled in delicate, pudgy baby fingers opened its mouth once more, but this time not to cry. Instead, it moved slowly and purposefully, attempting to harmlessly gum the Opal's hand with its mouth. It could have been described as a greeting, as much as the wordless staring had been. One of the beest's forelimbs, short and stubby, pawed at the air, not quite coordinated or long enough to reach Opal. Still, at least half of the beest seemed soothed-- or bewildered into silence-- by the other's efforts. @V-Opal-One RE: just the two of us - V-Labradorite-One - Feb 06 2023
It was time. @V-Jasper @V-Opal-One @V-Pallasite-One RE: just the two of us - V-Opal-One - Feb 06 2023 The Opal was half successful, one head turning to make eye contact. a smile crept along the face that could, enjoying the shared recognition - before Jasper began to toothlessly gnaw at her hand, and that expression turned to surprised delight. She let out a little squeal, legs moving restlessly beneath her. The feeling was just so weird! its other hand replaced the task of the other, giving the head a reassuring pat pat as the Opal giggled. It had not noticed Labradorite, it being too quiet to properly draw the infant's attention. he let out a little gasp as oily black surrounded them, blinking up at the head that nuzzled one of Jasper's. It slowly extracted its hand from its siblings mouth (or attempted to) before reaching upwards for its parent, cooing with interest. Why was Jasper hogging all of the attention? He wanted some too! @V-Jasper @V-Labradorite-one RE: just the two of us - V-Jasper - Feb 06 2023 The mouthing and tasting of the Valk-fae's fingers was met with squeal and cheerful giggling, and the Beest responded to this by pushing its tongue between the individual digits, curling around a thumb. The four eyes that were fixated on Opal squinted with the opposite hand beginning to pat it, and a deep rumble churned down its throat into their shared chest. Which might have caught the attention of the rest of the two-headed Beest, but as it turned out, the other head was suddenly made aware of a separate entity all together: A massive oil-hound of vibrant crimson highlights loomed, dripping the same substance that oozed from the newborn. Yes-- it didn't take much for the connection to be made in the young one's mind. This was Kin. The larger snout of Labradorite gently nuzzled the awe-struck child, a soft and deep rumbling speaking the first words that the Jasper would hear. Hushing words, filled with a promise. The chew-toy slash hand that the other hand was slobbering over was removed without much warning or fanfare to instead reach for Labradorite's attention. The Beest that had been preoccupied suddenly noticed the black shadow that swathed them with a peep, It was at this point, however, that the two heads noticed each other properly for the first time since their collision and consequential chorus of wailing. It might have been one sided, if not for the back that the Beest head that peeped began to mouth the protrusion that came from the babbling one's cheek. @V-Labradorite-One @V-Opal-One RE: just the two of us - V-Labradorite-One - Mar 10 2023
The crying stopped. Good. RE: just the two of us - V-Opal-One - Jun 06 2023 She cooed with satisfaction as the larger creature shifted, feeling its wet nose press against its tiny hands. The contact felt correct, deserved - but it could feel a distress, of a kind. it was present in the hesitance, the attentive gaze. It already felt very smart for noticing, but that was all it was equipped to do: To notice, to observe. By not yet to know. He gave its face a reassuring pat, making his little noises as he did. The creature pulled away to hush the other one, and Opal watched quietly. Then words, lots of them - Spawn. Chaos Forge. Strong. Only one was fully understood, and it wiggled excitedly. It was hungry! It wanted to eat! "Uh-huh!" @V-Jasper |
